[00:01:04] I hope it doesn't affect our stream yeah i hope not we'll see we're going straight to satellite stuff so who knows but if it does it's also being recorded yeah if it does it's being recorded we will upload this as an actual episode afterwards yes this is weird like i can't make a mistake like i feel

[00:01:45] Feedback for that we did yeah a lot of people reaching out because i don't know how well we actually explained that he's going to be okay yeah reggie's fine he's going to hopefully fine he's ever going to be that's that's a good point as fine as he started off with so he will have a full use of his hand and everything after all the healing is done yeah he's expected to make

[00:03:00] Well that's what crystal came down before and she's like oh somebody got new shoes who is it and i'm like well it's not me i said is there one or two because that will tell who's there because yeah they doesn't but anyway there was some discussion on the discord server about

[00:03:14] Gloves also which are actually it's a good idea yeah i mean a lot of people put way more thought into what glove they use than i do i mean i just do you use a glove yeah like i don't remember i don't yeah i have a leather it's a really lightweight leather but it's a leather like a work type glove that i use to if anything to prevent it from cutting my finger completely off yeah and i i use a

[00:03:39] Heavy leather chore glove with a lining kind of like a winter glove so it's got some nice padding

[00:03:44] To it see i'm already missing fingers so that's okay like i don't mind if i lose another one that's another one i don't know if people know so i'm missing a couple fingers on my left hand from table saw actually so which if you if you ever watch any of our youtube videos you'll notice that

[00:03:58] Ron does not like to be in them for that very reason i i try to hide you do i do and that's okay

[00:04:03] I think maybe i don't know whatever i'm getting to the point where i don't even care anymore

[00:04:07] Like it's it's coming around it yeah you're getting comfortable yeah with our three audience

[00:04:13] Members oh god stop it anyway so gloves what kind of gloves do you recommend for starting a

[00:04:21] Motor well like i said i use a lightweight leather glove but a welding gauntlet was actually what they're called but it's a really really thick heavy glove those are great for starting some of the bigger more dangerous engines that's what one of the guys on on discord suggested that and then we actually had somebody else say yeah i've never i've never heard of this before but

[00:04:44] Yeah hockey hockey glove and i guess i can see they got a lot of padding on the knuckle so if you got a motor it likes to backfire on you that that's nice that's part of the reason i use a heavy winter glove is for the extra padding but it is bulky and cumbersome especially with the smaller engines

[00:04:58] Yeah yeah i would agree yeah but i just like i said i usually don't it's not like i start a ton of them but i i don't ever wear a glove i've never had one bite me that little 15 bit me and it freaking hurt man well that it did okay well i don't have any small ones like well so i have to worry for me

[00:05:17] Like i so you're talking about your i want to say there's one yeah for me i i fly a lot of smaller nitro stuff and i'm really really comfortable probably more comfortable than i should be around them so a lot of the times if it's an engine that i'm very familiar with and that treats me well sometimes i don't even wear a glove and that's that's a foul on me i should wear one at least every time or or use a chicken stick which that's a fancy term for using a device to flip the prop with instead of your finger but i don't like those very much by the way yeah i don't

[00:05:52] Either i don't get the feeling right yeah i don't either but if you develop your technique and like i said if it's an engine that you're familiar with i a lot of the times i'll go without a glove and sometimes even i can start an engine if it's one that i'm really familiar with just by grabbing the spinner and not even getting my hand anywhere near the prop yeah that little 15 i usually

[00:06:13] Just grab by a spinner or maybe just touch the prop but i use a glove when i do hand flip because i use nylon propellers a lot and even though they're sanded and smooth they can still give you

[00:06:24] A nasty little paper cut per se sure they can yeah they can especially those smaller props like on

[00:06:30] That 15 so so when you're talking about like an engine backfiring and having it come through and hit the back of your hand i've never had that happen before four strokes four strokes okay well that's probably why because i don't have any four strokes that i would start by hand like that yeah what like is a how do you make sure that doesn't happen i mean like if you completely follow through with your motion does that help does it it does okay yeah you have to make sure

[00:06:56] That your flip is vigorous and you have to make sure that you follow through right just like you they say like if you're playing tennis the follow through with your when you're swatting at the ball or whatever it is it's important it's important when you're hand starting an engine to follow through and not give up on it when it's coming up on compression and just assume that it's going to go ahead and make it all the way over yeah that's actually one of the

[00:07:19] Methods to start a four stroke is to flip it backwards against compression it'll bounce against that

[00:07:23] Compression and backfire and go the right direction exactly you're taking the kind of advantage of the backfire to actually give it its momentum to start itself and get it over that that top dead center of compression yeah i've seen you do that before yeah and that's how i start all my four

[00:07:38] Strokes i guess i didn't realize that was four stroke only well i shouldn't say all my four strokes all my single cylinder four strokes that's how i start them but but yeah on the on the two

[00:07:47] Strokes things and or if you're going to hand start anything just the follow through is the most important thing and make sure that you're not like and it's going to sound really terrible but don't be like limp fingers i'm saying like you have a purpose have a purpose and follow through when you flip it over top dead center make sure that you follow through and and get your hand and get your hand out of the way but usually if you're flipping it vigorous enough your hand is going to go out of the way just because of the the motion the force of moving it the natural motion is going to pull

[00:08:16] You out of the prop arc yeah exactly okay so yeah that's what they said like i said i've never heard

[00:08:22] Of a hockey glove before but me either that's that was new to me but it sure does make sense because like dave said we're not canadian yeah we're not canadian hey hey the guy that suggested

[00:08:32] It wasn't either yeah i don't think it was our canadian that was our friend tony that said that so

[00:08:37] But but yeah that it makes perfect sense because they're padded on the back side where yeah sometimes they get you on the knuckle and that really hurts especially when it's cold

[00:08:45] Outside oh yeah yeah okay so that was that was reggie like i said he's he's doing fine he will be fully recovered yep and we'll talk to him again sometime in the near future to see what his next steps are going to be with things yep i'm trying to get him to sell a bunch of airplanes

[00:09:04] He he really needs to he he needs to make some space especially if he wants to buy a jet

[00:09:09] That's his next thing he wants yeah there's no space in that apartment no and he he has it in his mind that he's going to get it faster than our two-year goal which is fine because i don't know if i'm going to be able to justify doing my two-year goal well like i said there's a lot of stars that have to align just perfectly for all that together and i i suggested him like honestly if he is serious about this if he really really wants to do this the best thing he can do right now is join monticello model masters because it seems like everybody over there has an actual turn it does

[00:09:41] Seem that way it's like every time we're there there's a jet there yeah and they are very friendly and they will walk you through what needs to be done just so you don't buy junk so you don't buy something that you don't know what you're buying so talk to somebody that does yeah hopefully he'll go through with that but i don't know if he will or not because well he needs to make some space first just like you said so yeah and i'll take and you've got he wants i do have plenty so you could

[00:10:06] Buy lots of his airplanes and if you end up with that just give them to me if you end up with the

[00:10:11] Hellcat i would be interested in that i don't think that's gonna happen he will not get off that one but i know i don't understand why but anyway so we got stickers yeah we're ordering stickers in i don't know i was super excited but now it's like it's a sticker yeah but they're cool they're

[00:14:35] Money-wise maybe that's what we need oh we're loaded all right have you seen any of the new products that are coming out there's one that i think we are all super excited about i am super excited so glad it's back and i don't know why it's this exciting but it's super exciting dubro is releasing the sanding blocks again dubro for the win and it's about time and

[00:14:56] Like how many times have we at least a few times we've talked about it on the podcast about how tools come and go i remember the great tool i wonder why someone can't bring it back well dubro did they're working on the contoured sanding bar man thank you dubro

[00:15:14] Contoured yeah it's got the contoured handle is that okay when you say contour i think oh i'm sorry

[00:15:18] Yeah it's a flat sanding bar but it's has a contoured handle to make it kind of more comfortable to grip and man i am so glad they're making them two lengths at 11 inch and five and a half inch

[00:15:29] It's yeah it's the same one that used to be able to get years and years and years ago yep the old gray plains one and it's gonna be nice to see some more stuff coming out hopefully they start bringing some more of the old stuff yeah back out yeah i hope so and i hope they have enough people buying them to make it worth their while and that's where you guys come in yeah i don't even

[00:15:46] Need a sanding block i'm gonna buy another one well you should like the way i the way i would prefer it i would have one of each length well i would i take that back i would have three of each length and then on each one i'd have fine medium and coarse yeah that way i don't have to change paper or anything like that i can just grab the bar and go i however would love to see them

[00:16:09] Bring back the extra long one i can't remember how long it is it's like two foot or something like

[00:16:13] That yeah it was yeah it was a it was a there's no reason they couldn't that's true i mean these

[00:16:19] Are all coming in maybe they were in long like eight or ten foot sections maybe if these maybe

[00:16:23] If these lengths that they're going to do sell well enough maybe they will they will bring that back

[00:16:27] Or somebody call them just say hey could you cut one a little long for me that maybe yeah it could

[00:16:32] Because i mean it's just an extrusion like we were talking about it beforehand beforehand and it's an extrusion that they push the molten aluminum through and then i mean you can cut it

[00:16:41] To about any length i would imagine so yeah yeah the longer it is the more expensive it is to ship but

[00:16:47] Well yeah but i mean okay if you really need a two foot long bar and you can't get them anymore wouldn't be worth i mean wouldn't be a i don't think it would be worth it yeah i don't think it would be a futile attempt to at least call them and say hey listen can you yeah cut me off a

[00:17:03] Couple of these things or three three for you and see i'm the same way like i only have two of them right now i don't have any of the short ones i just have the 11 inch ones and i have fine and medium yeah because i don't have any course because of course i usually don't do it that badly to where i have to have course to go that fast oh i i use course all the time i rarely use the others that's

[00:17:23] Almost always the 80 grit really i'll start a new kit with brand new 80 grit paper on the block and by the time i'm done it's worn out enough that i can actually do my final sanding really yeah that's

[00:17:35] That's been my experience also huh yep maybe i need to build more and figure it out then i don't know well 80 grit tends to make things go a little bit faster too true and i'm impatient so the faster

[00:17:47] Things go the better really i never knew that yeah so that's one of the things they came out with hopefully they they bring more stuff out e-flight by the way is also coming out with a new f-16 thunderbird scheme have you seen that i haven't yeah but is that a repaint of the old gray one i don't know i don't know i don't know their whole history of things was it an 80 millimeter before

[00:18:10] I i don't know but i kind of have a feeling they had a gray one that was an 80 millimeter it might have been 70 but i think it was 80 so i think this is just a repaint with an update but that's

[00:18:19] Kind of really nice yeah it's good to see some more things is it safe does it have the safe in it i would i don't know but i can't imagine it wouldn't pretty sure i saw a video and i think they had safe on it yeah i think everything pretty much that comes out with them foam does probably and the reason i say foam is because hanger nine is actually coming out there's been a lot of emails coming out from them lately about things they're coming out with i've been bad about

[00:18:44] Checking my email and i like checked it tonight before we got started and i was like holy cow i should check my email more often there's a lot of stuff i got a lot of stuff from horizon there yes yeah

[00:18:53] So they have a fun scale pt19 coming out it's a plug and play 56 and a half inch wingspan

[00:19:01] Expensive yeah but it's balsa well that's it's kind of neat to to hear the fun scale term again like dave i'm not familiar with this yeah dave will probably remember well i know dave will remember because i know he's built several fun scale mustangs and the house of balsa made a bunch of fun scale they did a corsair and they did a couple other like 40 nitro size 40 size but it's it's kind of cool to see that name pop up again yeah they just cheat the air foils a little

[00:19:31] Bit make them a little more forgiving better flying but they still really looked the part yeah so that'd

[00:19:36] Be kind of like that not pts what was the the trainer mustang thing that i yeah that was a pts yeah that kind of be considered a fun scale because it's like a yeah because it's yeah because it's slab

[00:19:46] Size it's not contoured fuselage and that like dave says they they take and they kind of maybe shave off the the lower half of the airfoil and make it kind of a semi-symmetrical or a flat bottom to make them a little bit easier to fly but and from 25 feet away it looks like a mustang so i imagine this thing is going to probably look pretty good it does look pretty good

[00:20:09] Yeah it looks real good in the photos that i saw yeah electric but yeah four hundred forty nine dollars and 99 cents electric but that comes with everything except your battery and your receiver so if you look at it that way it's not bad like okay well let's say let's say you're going to put a

[00:20:25] Decent which you should yeah receiver in it that's 80 bucks 100 bucks so now you're you're over 550 for less than 60 inch wing that seems really expensive to me by the time you it's

[00:20:42] Getting up there sorry yeah but by the time you buy an arf by the time you buy quality no you're right by the time you buy a quality speed controller quality motor i mean stuff just gets expensive

[00:20:53] No you're right you're right and and a lot of that is the the times we're currently living in right because balsa is it's not impossible to get it but it is more difficult to get possible for us and well yeah but it is more expensive so i mean materials raw materials are expensive and labor is more expensive since covid because people don't want to work or whatever so no i get it i get the i get the price increase i just hope that this isn't the new like normal yeah what i mean because pre-covid you could get an arf for 200 bucks a decent you

[00:21:29] Know 40 size sport type yeah but you're kind of doing the same thing now though i mean if you buy yeah like i said five servos or i don't know what that one takes maybe four servos probably four along with decent servos are expensive you're at least 25 30 bucks for a servo that's true so there's 110 right and all the work is done for you so there's that also speed controller yeah motor now you're right covering i mean you don't have to worry about covering with an arf because it's already done well that's true i think it's spinner all that kind of stuff yeah i mean it's it's not

[00:22:03] That far out of line price wise i don't think that's true yeah you get a good point but it just it's a lot of money to plunk down up front up front i agree maybe that's maybe that's that's

[00:22:12] What you're getting the shock so if they maybe down though did it separately like here's the plane and then you can put this in for extra and you'd be better with it i don't know probably not well

[00:22:23] Are they gonna offer it as just an arf minus all the other stuff i don't know because a lot of us i know dave and i both and you too we have all the stuff to put an arf together we have servos and speed controllers or engines or yeah receivers or if they if they produce something like that as an arf for 2.99 yeah it would probably be it would probably be worth that yeah so i'm guessing yeah i'm i'm you're right it has all the electronics in it i get it it's and they're good electronics

[00:22:55] They're e-flight they're the avian esc and all that telemetry and all that kind of stuff yeah that's cool i want to go back to the the thunderbird really quick have you heard of because they have that one coming out in two flavors they have the bnf basic the bind and fly basic and then they have the arf plus have you heard of arf plus oh that's new to me how about you dave yeah i've seen some arf plus stuff i can't remember which manufacturers are doing it but it was i think

[00:23:22] Motion had some yeah that i've seen before but they're they're semi-complete they've got like the servos but no power plant or they have the power plant no servos or i can't remember the way it works

[00:23:33] Out yeah so if i if i saw it right it's pretty much everything you need minus minus the power system so you don't get your motor you don't get speed controller and obviously you don't get the battery but yeah servos are installed already yeah so that's not bad either yeah i can see the marketing

[00:23:50] Behind that i mean because there's there's such a wide variety of aftermarket support is especially for edfs right now yeah i can i can understand the the merit in selling it without the power system

[00:24:02] Yeah yeah i got a bucket with four 90 millimeter edfs in it it's like

[00:24:07] Sounds to me like you need to be built either a c17 or a c5 oh there you go a big one that would

[00:24:14] Be awesome that would take a bunch of batteries for a three-minute flight you keep him busy i'll get the battery out of the tesla good luck with that yes so anyway yeah it's good to see there's some

[00:24:27] New stuff coming out to get excited balsa i like to see a balsa a new balsa airplane that's awesome

[00:24:32] I know i don't see a lot of that stuff much anymore it seems like everything's foam so yeah that's cool yep what else do you want to talk about well we went to the street or flying yeah you guys

[00:24:45] You suck you didn't get to go yeah well it's not because i suck i mean that's not why i didn't go for anybody that i mean i think we talked about it i had to do a roof i i had to put a kid a roof

[00:24:58] On my kid's house yeah last weekend so oh man i felt so bad i really did like the stories that i was hearing of all that and then of course and i felt so terrible okay so your your kid lives over

[00:25:12] By like close to where my parents live yeah well he lives close to me too because i live close to

[00:25:15] Where your parents live too sure okay yes fine but as i was going so on monday i ended up stopping by my mom and dad's house i don't even remember why headache that's okay but anyway so i ended up stopping by their house on my lunch break and as i was driving by i looked down the road your kid lives on and i saw the color house that or the color roof and i thought i was looking at his roof and i was like oh i want to stop by on the way home or on the way back to work see what it looks like so after i left mom and dad's house i told him i was going to stop by because they asked how things

[00:25:45] Are going with the roof and stuff i said well i'm assuming they're finished because they were starting on the back side of the roof yesterday when i offered help and was turned down because i'm too fat that's how i took it that's not no i asked would you like help and you said

[00:26:02] Oh the roof is thin well i don't want too many people so they whoever built this house of his they went as cheap as they could which okay these are all spec homes these are all catalog homes from back in the 70s back in the 70s yeah anyway they built them as cheap as they could and the the plywood i'm pretty sure is 7 16 plywood on the roof deck which is thin anyway and then the the the trusses are spaced 24 inches apart so there's not a lot of support between the trusses

[00:26:35] So even with me on it if i didn't step directly over where a truss was i mean you could physically feel the roof giving and with my well no wait a minute and in addition there were a few spots that were i don't want to call them soft spots but they were soft spots so you had to be really really careful and when you offered to help we already had paper on it so you couldn't see readily where

[00:27:05] All the trusses were so if you didn't groundwork so well there was no groundwork to do at that point awesome because it was already i mean which that's another story did you hear the shingle story yes i don't well let's not get too deep into okay well anyway we got it done and the reason i didn't want you up there because if you didn't know where you were stepping there's a good chance you could step through the roof and i told laurie i didn't want her up there either for the exact same reason

[00:27:30] But i had nothing to do with weight that's fine but what i felt bad though so monday like i said i was going back to work and i drove by the house and i thought everything was finished like i thought you guys were done not even there and i saw your car on the driver i was like well that's weird and then as i got up there i saw you both on the roof and you were like four lines up on the front of the roof four rows yeah four rows and i i stopped and then i was befuddled because i thought you were finished already and so i think my first comment was i thought you guys would be farther along than

[00:28:01] That that's exactly what you said or something along no that's exactly it and i thought you guys would be farther along than that and now now casey and i are both on the roof like head to toe soaked in sweat because it's hot as blue blazes up there i'm sitting in my air and then yeah and ron pulls up in his air-conditioned tesla and says gee i thought you guys would be farther along by now

[00:28:28] I knew he didn't mean it that way but at the time kill though i mean like at the time i was like

[00:28:34] You jerk i don't even think you said anything to me i didn't like your kids because i couldn't

[00:28:39] Believe you said that i was like i'm sure ron didn't mean that the way it sounded so i'm just gonna not say anything well i yeah like i i'm sorry that but anyway that's why i didn't go to the to the flying with you guys yeah because you had that to do yeah it was working and we'll get

[00:28:57] Back to it but you got back at me by the way for that comment by going to brian's by yourself and buying but anyway so yeah we went up to the the flying it was a lot of fun dave went up the night before with his brother and and and so i don't know what happened with the dogs like something happened and the dogs didn't get along too well or something yeah fred got in hank's food bowl and hank

[00:29:22] Took exception to that and kind of freaked fred out for the rest of the weekend so there's a little

[00:29:27] Tension when we got there saturday i went up with with crystal actually came with me and so did piper because they decided they wanted to go it was a long day for piper like i really felt bad we left at like 7 7 15 in the morning and didn't get home till almost 10 o'clock that night i mean she's five she that was that was a lot for her but i had a lot of fun it was windy i didn't like the wind and not a whole lot of flying going on unfortunately but it was one of those it was a good trip like i still

[00:30:01] Enjoyed being around airplanes i still enjoyed being with friends minus tommy unfortunately but

[00:30:08] Next time yeah so it was a bunch of fun yeah some really pretty airplanes up there and people were flying in the wind no matter how bad it was i couldn't believe it actually but yeah there was a

[00:30:19] Lot of people that kind of scared me because the wind for most of the time was crosswind coming towards us like at our face across the field and we were at the end of the runway like where you would be taking off so there's a lot of drifting let's say going on towards us but no

[00:30:39] It was a lot of fun yeah it was a blast thankfully after the event was over the wind dropped off and we got quite a bit of flying in in the evening was able to fly the f-15 for the first time in a couple

[00:30:52] Years got some new batteries for that i had never seen that airplane before and that's a it's a nice looking airplane thank you it's heavy heavy heavy for foam like it's foam you wouldn't think it'd be

[00:31:05] That heavy yeah and to save batteries so i always have somebody carry it out to the end of the

[00:31:10] Runway for me that would be me yeah on the second time yeah and so and okay so this is a free wing f-15 90 millimeter so it's eight cell setup it's big i mean it's a big airplane for foam for foam it's foam it's foam was it foam it was foam but anyway so first off i have to ask where can i pick this up because foam dense and i would feel terrible like hey here's my finger mark in dave's airplane we got landing gear doors all over the place yeah so i had one hand on the the front of

[00:31:44] The airplane the nose and then i was like on top because i was holding it in front of the center of gravity so it wanted to go backwards which made it heavier on my hand too by the way on my right hand and so of course from where we're starting at the end of the runway we have to go to the beginning part of the runway in order to set it down to take off i almost like dropped that thing i don't know how many times because the it got hefty like i have my hands out like i'm carrying a little pizza box and it's windy and it's windy so that's yeah i forgot about the blowing everywhere but i was just

[00:32:19] Tommy's making fun of me i was i was very careful to not break dave's plane because i have a bad tendency of breaking people's airplanes when i carry them and try and throw them but anyway so i got i thought i was going to the very end but you luckily yelled out you don't have to go that far where you are as good and i was able to set it down that you flew it like i said pretty good three minute flights

[00:32:43] Yeah you better be touching down when the three-minute timer goes off because there's nothing

[00:32:46] Left yeah yeah and that's two by the way four cell 5200 milliamp hour batteries in it yeah 100 c's yeah and they were hot when we took them out like i was i had never felt because i have the same batteries the huvu i think is what it is or amazon batteries and they work really well on that plane well they work really well in the planes i fly them in too but i don't ever pull that much power out so i've never felt one get warm let alone yeah i mean these were not hot they were just i couldn't hold on to them they were very warm i was just uncomfortable it was not burning me but it made me i have

[00:33:22] I have sensitive hands so it's okay are you back ron has very sensitive hands i can i can attest he complains a lot even when he's building an airplane i do yeah you never noticed that like when we were building the dualists i don't what yeah oh this like anytime you'd push a t-pin in oh

[00:33:43] I have a t-pin pusher that i no longer use since i use magnets i'll have to get it to him

[00:33:48] Yeah ron can probably use it i did i really yeah i don't remember you have sensitive hands it's okay it's probably the the office job you have like i work with my hands well whatever you push buttons on a computer i do now but i used to work with my hands but anyway yeah ron has sensitive so i didn't know i didn't know the f15 used two two batteries two four cells because it's an eight

[00:34:13] Cell setup it's an eight cell setup i used to use a six and a two and i've switched it over to two

[00:34:17] Fours it's a little more practical makes me wonder now if i could go to a six and a two in that jet thing that i've got because it's a 90 millimeter yeah yeah you should be fine if it's

[00:34:30] Separate so i was gonna say as long as your esc will take it also you had to buy a special yes oh

[00:34:34] Okay okay now i'm pretty sure this one's set up for six because i think it even says six all on the

[00:34:39] On the speak that answers your question yeah in order to get the f15 to fly off of grass at all it had to be switched to order to an eight cell setup so yeah well but you no yours does have

[00:34:51] Landing gear too doesn't know me yeah yeah it's got retractable with the sequencing doors and all that i should i should actually watch you fly that sometime it's so there they are a lot of fun to

[00:35:01] Fly yeah yeah they're a blast very quick blast but they're a blast yeah not a lot of flight time

[00:35:08] Especially the the higher like the big 90 millimeter ones yeah three minutes and you better be looking to

[00:35:15] Land yeah i'm touching down as a timer screaming at me or else you're buying new batteries or else you're

[00:35:20] Exactly yeah yeah yeah don't fly him to the cutoff because if you think no time yeah if you think they were hot when you pulled it out of his at the timer if he had flown them to the cutoff yeah they would

[00:35:30] Probably burn your hand cannot imagine yeah so yeah when we went up though it was nice because that's actually the first time and streeter is really close to brian shop so this was the first time that i was able to take piper and crystal to brian shop to show her around so i'm i it was fun to take crystal in because as you walk in i mean now granted like i'm smiling just i know imagining walking into the place for the first time so she's not the rc geek that we are

[00:36:01] Like she doesn't get all excited about that kind of stuff however as we walk in i mean i don't know if well yeah you've been to brian's recently he has gotten so much more stuff oh yeah like i think the way she put it was it reminded her of an episode of hoarders that was it was organized yeah i mean no

[00:36:22] I could see that yeah it's it's getting it's getting difficult he has so many airplanes there used and new and not just airplanes either he does rc cars and he does the whole hobby thing but it's getting to the point where it's getting difficult to almost difficult to walk around in

[00:36:39] Certain parts of the store yeah like i couldn't buy anything because we had no room in the car but well i still want to go up with you again yeah use your car we'll make a trip there's an airplane i have an eye on that i need to try and talk him down price a little bit and brian knows he knows

[00:36:56] Which one you want oh did did you talk to him about we did they talked a little okay not much i just told him how badly you wanted it and he would you would pay almost anything for it that's not no that's

[00:37:06] Not you're supposed to play coy you're supposed to be like yeah if you got it you got it

[00:37:10] If he knows he knows you're you're very interested in that so yeah yeah it would it you i

[00:37:17] Mean there's nothing that says we can't talk about what it is right no no it's a big big big telemaster that's the 12 foot telemaster it's the biggest he's got no it's not the biggest oh okay they make bigger now but he's got one of those up there that's almost fully assembled no electronics very close to being done yeah so i really would like to have one of those i don't know why i would like to put the motor that i got the what is it the cheetah 40 or the 42 cc or whatever it was that we got in ohio i think that'd be a good fit for yeah but anyway i think so too i got sidetracked again see

[00:37:48] Darn it so crystal got to see brian shop for the first time when we walked in she had to take in the the first view yeah and then i had so much fun because i'll be like all right now come over here okay but wait there's more and i take her around to another like corner and she'd look there back but wait there's more and so we go to another room and i'd be like but wait there's more and then we go to another room and i just i don't know how many times i got to say that and then we got to the stairs the stairs actually kind of like piper was a little afraid of those at first well i can see why there's

[00:38:22] No back no backer it's just open they're metal yep and it just but by the time we got upstairs i mean i was just like and look this is this is nirvana this is this is this is like i don't know yeah i still get excited every time i go up there or even when i think about going up there yeah me too i just me too there's so many airplanes there yeah there are and so much airplane paraphernalia yeah parts and engines which makes me tick but buckets of engines up there i love that place

[00:38:52] I don't know he keeps every time i go up there that cessna 337 sitting on that floor it's like i have no reason to buy this 337 it's still there i know it was there last saturday but see that

[00:39:05] There were two of them weren't there there were i only saw one when i was so when i was up there recently i didn't even go upstairs we didn't have to we were so we were so pressed for time and he was busy he had to go work on a bridge a bridge to nowhere well so i don't know if we've mentioned or not but brian he has his hands in many businesses not as many as he used to but he also runs a machine shop there in streeter or not streeter lenore lenore and that business

[00:39:36] Is it does pretty well which i believe he's trying to sell that business so if you're interested in a turnkey ready to go machine shop he's got one anyway wow he apparently a while back he built a 16 by i hope i get this right forgive me if i don't brian by 80 so it's a 16 foot wide by 80 foot long i think it was he called it a truss style bridge welded up out of steel and all the stuff that a machine shop would do and he had to go look at it or do something to it so he didn't have a lot of time

[00:40:09] So i didn't even get to go upstairs yeah because i had a purpose you went with a purpose yeah yeah you bought a big bag of yellow air well that's one way to put it yeah i bought a big cub what's big it's 109 and a half inches oh you have to throw a half well yeah it's 109 it's a half inch short of 110 inches it's yeah it's the biggest airplane i've ever owned which is something special to me and without making a huge long story out of it because we're coming up on an hour here pretty

[00:40:43] Soon we're two-thirds of the way there when i like kind of in the heyday not the heyday i can't

[00:40:50] Call it that because i'm always in the heyday of the hobby right but a while back in your younger

[00:40:55] Days my younger days i hung out with an older gentleman his name was harold doherty in taylorville where i'm from and he cubs like every like 90 of the rc airplanes that he had were cubs they were either clipped wing they were either he had the the od the l version he loved cubs and so i would build for him and it would always be end up being a cub that i would be building either either the goldberg version or the sig third scale i mean he had them all sizes

[00:41:30] Shapes and back then about the biggest you could get was a third scale which was the sig kit or the balsa usa back then which i guess the bud knows and you could have gotten the big one back then too but anyway so i just have really really fond memories of cubs and would you believe that in the 40 plus years that i've been in the hobby i've never owned myself a flyable j3 cub ever really i know it's shocking like i have i have a goldberg kit at home that i have intentions of building you

[00:42:01] Know someday after the camel's finished right but i've never actually owned a flyable a flyable cub so yeah so it's special to me because it brings back all these great memories and i mean i just finally i own a cub and it's a big one yeah it's a nice big one i saw it sitting up there yeah it's very well built whoever built this one did a great job and yeah i can't figure out which kit or plan or whatever this one's built from because it's an odd it doesn't it doesn't

[00:42:32] Match anything that i've been able to find on the internet yeah weird so either it was a custom or maybe somebody chatted a little bit added some span to the wing or whatever their

[00:42:43] Friend had 107 inches like no no 108 okay well that's probably yeah that's so there we go the wings bigger than like three quarters of an inch on each wing just to make it bigger because that's something i would do yeah like actually it is something it is something i did on the do list

[00:43:00] Right exactly i know i haven't forgotten i didn't until i said that but no this one was very very very well built that i was kind of looking over the construction and the fuselage and the joints are very good fitting joints well put together nice looking airplane yeah and it's covered in aura tex right that's the fiber like the stuff you like or a text the fabric

[00:43:24] I know what you're talking about i've got a roll of it in my mind it's covered in that

[00:43:29] So it's fabric and it's not real glossy it doesn't have the polyester film covering on it which is nice right yeah it has an os 120 twin on it which hopefully flies it well enough it's a big airplane but it's light i mean i picked i put it all together in the basement the other night and kind of i didn't put it on a scale or anything but i picked it up and i was surprised that oh this for as big as it is it seems like it's heavier they are yeah so you've flown cubs obviously yeah i've flew heralds and i've flown cubs over the years but never my own they're there it's different to fly a

[00:44:03] Cub yeah lots of rudder i hear lots of rudder and be prepared to float yeah and good luck getting off ground without trying to spin a little bit oh you mean like a ground loop ground loops are easy to do in those okay so noted at least in the one i had it was but anyway yeah i got back at

[00:44:23] You for enjoying your weekend at the fly-in by going up there alone and picking up picking up that cub

[00:44:28] I felt like you felt like you had to call me though on your way up so here's what here's what was going

[00:44:34] Through my head like i was i was i was just out of springfield like i had just gotten on the on the highway and heading up on and i thought i should probably be ron would probably be upset if i went up here and didn't at least let him know i was coming up here in case he needed whatever glue or whatever so that's why i called i would i didn't call to rub it in your face or anything like that and had i known what you told me a little bit ago yeah if you'd call me an hour before he left i would

[00:45:01] Have taken off work and gone up see and if i had known that i i would totally would have done that yeah that would have been a day i could have done it but i think like i i you obviously are free to go up there whenever you want but i not without hurting your feelings no what got me about that one was we were just up there obviously like i said for the flying and i saw that cub was still there and i was like okay so i will tell tommy that cub is still there we will plan to make a trip up probably the second week in october we will go up he can buy that cub and i'm gonna talk brian into selling me

[00:45:34] Like a two for okay he's buying this one let's kind of play the deal together on

[00:45:41] That one yeah and then i get a phone call and you're like no that is not what i did but there is a flaw with your plan that cub and the telemaster i don't think both of those would fit together sure because that cub took up a lot of room in the back of my car it did yeah because the struts don't collapse so the struts are always out at that angle so oh so they by the time i get the wings in there there's just enough room to fit the fuselage between them so okay well so we may have had issues

[00:46:11] With trying to get both of them back but we probably could have figured it out that's all right we'll make another trip but yeah that just gives us a reason to go up there again yeah and dave when he

[00:46:20] Went up by the way you bought a new plane yeah i broke down and bought one of the big old tricks

[00:46:26] They're so cool like they really are awesome i love them that's a it's a fun plane to fly it's gonna get stripped real soon here and get repainted

[00:46:35] Of course you got to make it your own because dave can't leave anything alone and that's okay that's what the hobby is about and it was what okay so when i went up to the flying like i knew i didn't have room to take planes plus i did this was a warbird flying and i really don't have warbirds but i have the new a10 i bought that's a warbird it is it is great warbird yeah and then the ultra exciting they're small enough pancake box you can fit it right in the car so i threw them in the car and by the time we got up there it was so windy i knew i was not even gonna fly so like i didn't

[00:47:07] Register i didn't do anything i just sat with dave and and we watched pretty much everybody else fly with dave and his brother daniel were up there but as the wind died down i finally started thinking maybe maybe it's time now i mean like the what was it like three or four o'clock is when the yeah i think about just after three things started dropping off just enough to make it flyable yeah and the flying technically ended at like two or three in the afternoon or maybe it was four i don't remember what time it was it was a weird time to end on a saturday and a lot of people were just

[00:47:42] Like it was it was the third day of the event too yeah but it was saturday which is weird usually you would think they'd go to sunday but anyway so i decided to kind of get some planes out and flying with with you having your alteryx so i took the the new charger i have the spectrum i don't know what that was the s155 charger and i took a lawn and garden battery with me because i know there's no power out there and a small inverter that i used to keep in my other expedition when i had it

[00:48:13] And so i made a pigtail on that to where i could actually plug that directly onto the the battery and charge those the little three cell 850s off of that i i have too many of those batteries because literally we were flying for five to seven eight minutes on a battery and it was taking me six to seven minutes to charge them back up

[00:48:38] It charges very fast when you can charge it at what five c or whatever it ends up being so with four batteries dave was flying i was flying we went through stuff in the a10 and the ultrax and i had no issues waiting out of battery to charge i will have to say that little a10 with the three cell setup it's fast it's fast and it flies good it does but it just seems like it changes trim on its own i don't know if one of the servos isn't centering right or what well you're flying so

[00:49:09] Darn fast you're bending the rods you think that's what it is that could be i guess i mean that thing is

[00:49:15] A bullet for the size of it it makes it look even faster i had the old scale two cell version of it and it flew fine yeah this three cell is a rocket ship yeah it was fun though on the way up to the the

[00:49:28] Fly-in we stopped and i don't know what we were thinking so whenever you get crystal and i together and we're going somewhere we always over buy for stuff we spent like 70 bucks on potato chips and different chips and salsa because so as we're in the store we're like okay i don't know what dave likes i don't know what daniel likes we all like different things so we had oh and then they had popcorn which i like popcorn so i bought like six bags of popcorn and shush it's anyway so we ended up

[00:50:04] Having i i stopped counting at like 15 bags of chips that we ended up opening one that's overkill we ended up opening one out of 15 bags 15 bags so you guys can have a bag of chips as a parting gift

[00:50:19] When you leave tonight and to top it all off i did pulled pork nachos so i had my own chips and we had

[00:50:24] A trailer full of food up there as well yeah well now we knew you were going to cook because you always do you feed us well and i figured what can we bring to not be moochers and we went overkill on chips

[00:50:37] But that's okay it was yeah to piggyback on that dave does treat us right whenever we we go to fly-ins and stuff with him yeah thanks dave you're welcome we'll do it again yeah i think we should what's next anyway like what is there oh we're not going to be able to make the one down at red lake will we

[00:50:57] That was the same same weekend yeah it's over oh that's why there you go was that just last weekend

[00:51:02] Why does that seem like there's so much further like in the past so i guess that's is that the

[00:51:08] Last one for the year i have to look at the ama thing i'm sure there's probably something out there

[00:51:13] But that's the last one i plan on hitting that was the same weekend unfortunately i don't know so i feel like a story's coming on well okay i told i don't remember if i said on the podcast or not but i told you that i went to the fly-in at our field and nobody was there like i knew it was windy in the morning and i knew it rained a little bit but i was still like and that was a day piper wasn't feeling all that great and i was like look i'm gonna go do you guys want to come and they both decided yeah let's we'll ride out to the field with you so i drove by and i was like there

[00:51:47] Is nobody here like i figured there would be somebody there the gate was even closed it was closed so i didn't even try and go back and so we were on discord of course and talking about the fly-ins that were coming up and going the streeter and dave said something about the flying at our field and i said yeah it was canceled and i never even got any kind of notification i went there there was nobody there i guess it got rained out because the the weather in the morning i don't remember he called me some dolt or something like that i was on a complete wrong weekend it was like two or

[00:52:19] Three weeks off it was the same weekend as street it was last weekend yeah so i felt like an idiot which i do that often no you're not an idiot that was that took a while but anyway well i had to get the microphone oh so all right is there are we i feel like though let's talk about that just a little

[00:52:39] Bit more i feel like i feel like you've done something like that before gone somewhere or was gonna go somewhere on the wrong weekend yeah i feel like i forgot all about that until reggie brought it

[00:52:50] Up yeah it was the columbia swap meet i think that's right that's right i didn't go but i was getting ready to go yeah i think somebody pointed it out yeah i gotta do better i gotta do better well you

[00:53:01] Got a lot going on well i need to use a calendar so well there's that so i meant to ask yeah so you took crystal to the hub b shop b shop why i had a thought in the middle of that so what did she think like did you did you say did you tell him like did you

[00:53:21] Was she impressed she liked it but like i said she wasn't like her comment was from the stories we tell she thought was going to be bigger and i for those yeah so i don't know if anybody watches doctor who it reminds me of the tardis the that's just the police call box that's small on the outside and you open up and it's just huge that's how i feel about that place because you look at it and i said the same thing when we were up there the other day yeah or a couple weeks ago whatever i was like look at this building like i don't know how so much stuff is is shoved into

[00:53:54] Every nook and cranny to where it just feels huge when you're inside yeah and then when you're outside it's like this is it yeah but now she for what it was she was impressed she's not into the hobby as much as we are obviously so it's it's like when she takes me to some of the stuff she's into and i just act impressed also i mean it's i don't know she's she might be listening i love everything you have me do honey i i do so but no that was that was one of the things that she just it was not her thing

[00:54:25] But she was still impressed by what it was for it for what it is it's it's pretty cool and right now

[00:54:31] It's really impressive it is because it is so packed wow yeah and i would like to lighten his load by one airplane yeah but i gotta find something else to take out i need to get rid of legit i need to be done for a while i've gotten rid of a lot because i why that's where i need to i need to i owe you one but then getting one from dave apparently so now i'm net plus whatever for the year i need

[00:54:55] To get rid of some i do so here's the thing we're done with fly-ins we need to start hitting the swap mates and get rid of some stuff i got boxes of bits and pieces i need to get rid of i can't do that

[00:55:05] Though i buy i'm a buyer and i do too and i gotta get past that what do you got boxes and bits of

[00:55:12] Stuff david i got four 90 millimeter fans for one thing yeah well that might be fun to throw on something silly i was thinking about well maybe i was thinking firefox maybe oh maybe a stick with a

[00:55:25] Foam firefox that's completely doable because the firefox is nothing but flat surfaces anyway

[00:55:33] Yeah there you go there you go dave all right new project for you so you don't have to get rid of

[00:55:39] It now see time you found a thing that was a fairly quick no no i've got a lot of stuff i need to get rid of i mean i open my closet and stuff has fallen out at me now it's time to go i got a bunch of car

[00:55:50] Stuff i need to get rid of yes i do too actually i could probably get rid of 12 or 13 wrestlers and all that stuff have you seen the wall that's i don't think you've seen it there's a bunch hanging up in there they've been there for a while so i don't touch them i've seen them yeah yeah anyway are we done

[00:56:07] The problem is like i need to get rid of airplanes but i i'm attached to all the ones i have i like

[00:56:13] Them all well i've gone through my list recently yeah and i feel as though i have it whittled down to where i'm in the same boat as you are there's nothing on there that i want to get rid of yeah there's stuff i probably could get rid of that wouldn't hurt me in the long run me too but

[00:56:28] Yeah there's just some that i i know it's we need to fly more so that we crash them there's a

[00:56:34] Certain red fokker d7 that's on the i need to get rid of it list yeah i don't like fokkers it's a

[00:56:42] Good looking airplane i like it is a good is that the one with the four stroke on it yeah i like that

[00:56:46] Airplane but man is it a pain in the butt on the ground a little bit yeah a little bit you were very frustrated with that airplane okay so that's all i can get it cheap then all right well i think i'm
