Ep 135: Ron got a Twimber! Oh… And Reggie’s Back… :)

[00:00:02] Hello everyone welcome to the rc plane lab podcast i'm ron i'm dave and i'm reggie so reggie has been begging begging i say to come on to be a guest especially after much begging or

[00:00:26] Be honest it was just a question one question on a daily basis i can pull out the text messages

[00:00:32] As proof oh tommy's gone if you really i'll come on i'll come on we can we can talk we can talk and i was like that's a good idea i was like that's a good idea and then every time i've seen you since then but anyway begging to come on so we sit down like all right what do you want to talk about oh i don't know so this is going to be amazing i am just going to follow the lead here

[00:00:54] You guys normally have something to talk about i'm just going to interject here and there that's about

[00:00:58] It so here's the thing dave and i sat down less than 48 hours ago and recorded our last episode so we don't have that much to talk about so this is all you bud we have done literally nothing well that's not true i did have a a day yesterday oh yeah you were on the road all day should we you want to start with that and then maybe reggie you'll you'll feel more comfortable to be able to talk about stuff and go for it and whatnot okay are you sure yeah i don't want to steal your thunder no ready yeah okay so yesterday excuse me wow dave and i recorded thursday night for friday's release

[00:01:36] After that friday we ended up having off because remember we had storms go through took out power to a lot of springfield still out actually they're getting better slowly but there are some places that are still out however friday i had off work i was planning on taking it off anyway but i had off work because we had no power there and long story short i went to brian's ended up taking some stuff up there to get rid of and then i wanted to come home with

[00:02:07] A couple new airplanes i actually ordered another he didn't have it in stock which is fine but i ordered another of the axial capras the rock crawler i know you're looking like i'm talking about a plane but i'm not i figured out another rock crawler so i have a matching one different color but a matching one to pipers so now we can do that together i bought i never remember what this one is called the the stick the e-flight stick that's the actual aluminum tube stick a mini stick or mini slow stick micro whatever the ultra i don't know what it was and then i finally came up with i bought the twimber

[00:02:46] Did you buy a twimber i bought a twin timber which is the dumbest name by the way i don't know why

[00:02:50] They didn't just call the twimber i'd like to have that ec 1500 is what i'd like to have he didn't have one up there yet you should order it i am fighting myself on that why i got no room as usual nobody well you have all kinds of room i have have you looked around here i have no room i see the telemaster touching the ceiling and the floor damn near yes darn near darn near wow no no but it's you've got a little bit of room well okay that's maybe not yeah and actually

[00:03:23] Since cody has left since he moved out i've taken over that room also i didn't know he moved out oh yeah oh gosh that was last fall so we're going on eight nine ten months oh wow so that room has like five airplane storage crystal loudest is she okay there's yeah give me an inch i'll take a mile you did so yes there are planes everywhere so your complaint about not having room is null and void and you should just go order your new airplane it's not that big no it really

[00:03:57] Isn't it's it's pretty good decent size i still think isn't it it's about what five foot wingspan

[00:04:03] Or so i don't know i wasn't planning on talking about it so i have not looked it up okay well it

[00:04:08] I still have a few things to get rid of before i can actually drop something that big in there there's there's a lot of stuff now stacked around the floor nose down all around the room so and then i'm trying to keep that table that i just got cleaned off as you saw in discord clear which is slowly i don't remember that what i took pictures of my work table as far as the bench both of them oh where my chargers are now at and where i can actually work on something at versus have to take it in the kitchen or living room or dining room or on the back porch or somewhere so on the back porch i have

[00:04:44] A patio porch well yeah but still if i have to go outside to work on the airplane because i didn't know you worked on airplanes yeah i don't bring everything today every time i actually do work on a

[00:04:55] Few really i didn't know that yep i do i do so what do you do on them replace free tracks

[00:05:02] Motors whatever i gotta do if i can but as far as interior body work or whatever i know may come see one of the masters on that it's a good idea i wouldn't trust you to do it either i appreciate

[00:05:14] That thank you actually on one of your planes that would be he is really getting a lot better he really is busy i've checked some of his work it looks really good i'm thank you dave i'm happy to

[00:05:22] Hear that that's good because i know he used to be scared to touch anything yeah that's a lot of

[00:05:27] Money and everybody's safety around me yes we appreciate that okay so you're worried about

[00:05:35] Fixing your own airplane but not flying over highways and all that kind of i tend not to do

[00:05:41] That no more but i still worry about safety of others not to mention even if it's by myself i don't want to bury five six hundred bucks in the ground over something stupid yeah so rather not be over

[00:05:55] Something stupid just over something okay rather not be over anything to be honest with you so but okay well and because see you brought something out today for dave to work on so that's

[00:06:06] Why i thought perhaps what is that actually called is it a parasail or paraglider or what is

[00:06:12] Supposed to be called paramotor paramotor and i keep my my bad i keep calling it a paraglider it's not a glider it's got a motor yeah i have no idea what to call it but it's a paramotor paramotor is what

[00:06:22] You should call it thank you ron well you just said you had no idea so i'm just trying to help you out before this conversation i had no idea well now you do thank you i mean you're on top of this

[00:06:32] But yeah trying i brought it out because i really have no idea what the hell to do with it so dave's gonna show me some insights and help me put it together i do believe so you're just like i'm what

[00:06:45] I thought we were just programming but oh that too that too oh that too see we're gonna do the

[00:06:51] Reggie's the gift that keeps on giving thank you multi-layer shell -huh after seeing dave's what last year or the yeah yeah it was in streeter last time you saw it fly i decided to have one and of course they had a flash cell so i got one they are a blast i mean they're very relaxing what kind

[00:07:12] Oh just the hobby king paramotor okay i don't think it actually has a name it is hobby king

[00:07:17] I forgot now well you bought it i mean i bought it a year ago it's still sitting in the bottom a year

[00:07:23] Ago it's been in the box the whole time wow it builds fast and easy well i hope so it takes way longer to program it there does to build it hopefully we can just download mine to his hopefully what's the matter i mean why is it so hard to program it's the ailerons you have to make it so one goes up and the other one does nothing and so there's some mixing programming going on in there to allow you when you move right aileron only as right arm moves okay nothing happens on the left got it

[00:07:57] Yeah i'd rather leave somebody that knows what you're doing versus me trying to make an attempt and having a tree or get ate up again by another set of blades so i'm hoping we can just transfer my

[00:08:08] Program to your radio and ding bang done because i think it took me like three hours to program it

[00:08:13] Last time oh i so you what do you have dave what radio dx9 and you're going to your new one probably so the nx20 that should be doable i hope i mean i thought dx9 save and files the nx the nx series can read we'll find out i guess so if not i guess you're going to be programming a lot

[00:08:40] For a radio that i'm not familiar with either that's going to be great well neither that is

[00:08:45] Well back to the 18. why would you do that yeah i don't know i'm trying to be picky choosing what i'm going to put on that radio yet i don't know what exactly i want on there why not just move everything everything yeah why have two radios why not how many radios you got well i only use one just one yeah that you still use the the 12 or whatever you had no 14 i use that as a spare

[00:09:13] Radio as in like a buddy box radio no but no everything i fly is i converted everything over from the 12 to the 20 and now it's all in that one because i like i said i don't see a reason to have to have multiple transmitters to remember what is bound to what and all that right so then i like the 20 so much better than the 12 i would not want to go back to that that would annoy me

[00:09:37] That i feel so out of date you guys are talking about 20s and 12s i i've got my dx9 and an 8103

[00:09:45] Well either it's time to upgrade or you're just going to be stuck with i'm happy with the nine well if you're happy with it then that's fine i like a little bit really i guess no reason but i like a little bit more bells and whistles and i like how easy it is to set up stuff on the 20 i think

[00:10:04] I still have my four six seven and 18 and 20 now i think i even had the what was it a d e or d l e or something i can't remember what it was d d x e yeah d x e yeah i still had one of those at one point

[00:10:22] I don't i don't have all of my radios i started off with a d x4 right yeah d x4 super cub yeah that was a garbage radio yep got a five got a six skipped a seven bought an eight dx8 the original one mm-hmm let's see that was a gen one then from that i went to the ix 12 and then the ix 20.

[00:10:49] That's a lot of radios yeah but i'm done now i've given away a six i had thought about taking the rest of them into maybe a hobby shop or something just

[00:11:00] Offload them say here you go i mean if somebody else can use them and you're not going to why not

[00:11:05] True true of course there's still a few of them that come with a radio but i think they're all trainers now like the apprentice e flight apprentice and whatnot yeah maybe another one but yeah i'm trying to weed them out yeah i'm hoping these are my last two piper's

[00:11:23] Aeroscout came with a radio too but i programmed it onto the other actual radio like full-fledged radio like having the dx4 and starting with that one the range was terrible oh it was so i'm still concerned about that on lower end radios if i didn't have anything else that would be fine i would fly it but since i have the other radios to put them on it's better in my opinion just to put it on

[00:11:51] There it's more of a backyard flyer because you're not going to go too awful far with it

[00:11:56] For what the four yeah i the four i lost signal in my backyard even wow yeah so just flying and how big it is back it's not terribly huge i had a couple times where i lost signal on it just here so that's why i quickly went to a five because that's all i could afford at the time and then a six and then moved up from there we have gone a long ways i know it's kind of funny like i i i guess i don't realize how many radios i've gone through until you list them out and then it's

[00:12:26] It's more than i've had more rios than all of you combined because back in the day we had one radio for every airplane well you've been doing a lot longer too so i i had a whole battering of dx4s and six not dx's good god conquest four and six channel radios probably i had six of them at one time maybe i don't even know what that is i don't either yeah they're am wide band oh oh with the crystals and all that good crystal oh yeah i had a whole bunch of those and then of course then when

[00:12:58] The synthesized stuff started coming out we dealt with that but yeah i remember tommy talking about

[00:13:03] The synthesized and the modules and all that stuff but that's all kind of over my head having not dealt

[00:13:09] With it oh yeah i may see them in a case at a hobby shop somewhere like a mom and pop yeah come to my

[00:13:16] House there's a whole box of them yeah but at the hobby shop they're on display and like a museum thing that's the difference i have still got one that's still flyable it's in my electro glider oh nice it's a conquest four channel am i didn't know you had an electro yeah built in 1989 i was eight that was my oldest airplane i own right now that's kind of cool kind of scared to fly it it's really brittle is it yeah but it is it's still legal it's does not have the wide band receiver anymore it's

[00:13:48] Got a narrow band receiver so it's still legal to use and i could pull it out and fly it anytime i want but man it scares me it's just all that old glue yeah i get it that's cool though yeah and it's pink that late 80s early 90s ew yeah sort of like tommy's mtv sticker

[00:14:11] The old days oshkosh and you go to the actual ea eaa museum you'll start seeing probably a few of those radios sitting around in there oh really yep yeah that's coming

[00:14:23] Up in next month this month this month yes into this month this is now july wow it is i know day one of july to give away when we're recording but yeah so hard to believe so what's hosh kosh like i've not been you've been before right it is huge i don't know if it's

[00:14:41] As big as joe knoll but it's huge from the way you guys described it i would almost think it's bigger than joe knoll it's way bigger i'm sure i would expect it to be i'm thinking of the museum right at the moment but oh because that museum area and off to the sides is where the helicopters flying now for helicopter rides oh they have helicopter rides i might have to do that horizon hobbies little setup is also in that little area over there and there's quite a few planes sitting in that area but as far as the actual airport itself and where all the planes are there's for sale demo and all

[00:15:16] That yeah it's it's monstrous it's i wish you could have a golf cart in there and run around on but you'll spend a lot of time walking i don't like to walk no they've got those what are they the shuttle buses things do they yeah but still it's even when you get over to where the planes are sitting it's it's just acres of planes and that's just this one's for sale and whatever he decided to go

[00:15:47] To oh okay oh yeah interesting from just about every area wow bring your checkbook oh yeah there's there's quite a few that six seven figure it seems like i wouldn't be surprised that's kind of a

[00:16:02] Huge place to go for that oh yeah so what's horizon set up for what do they have they have one setup

[00:16:09] That's actually in a warehouse for just basically selling product and then they have another massive tent where you can actually go over and take test flights kind of do a whole little here try this really how you like it yeah oh yes right there by where the actual helicopters are taken off and on it kind of makes you wonder a little bit that kind of close but it's in a tent where they're doing it yeah so now it's over 10 they actually have you come out there in the field and you buddy box or if they actually think you can fly give you the controller i didn't know you could do that

[00:16:42] A controlled airport with that live traffic yeah no kidding it was different did they let you try i i've never made they know about rad jake they have a picture on the wall no biggest customer don't

[00:16:57] Let him touch anything when you was telling me about the the sales they had there at joan all i was kind of thinking i don't recall seeing big sales like that there as far as what they get knocked off this knocked off of that so but they do have some pretty good stuff out there to look at and of course it's also in a filled with everything else you could possibly buy for actual aircraft so yeah you actually kind of have to find it but i think there's they sit up in the same place every year i do believe

[00:17:33] Interesting i'll have to see what they have although we don't have room to bring anything home so that's okay i'm not what are you driving i'm gonna take my suburban up there i see maybe i'll have to use you to bring something home for me i can bring something home for you i can do that i'll give you that man i'll have to see what they want or what they have i'm taking that full week off

[00:17:56] But i'm gonna go friday as we discussed really yep why are you taking the whole week off well i

[00:18:01] Guess never mind it's fine i was gonna say you don't have to save it for joe and all at this year

[00:18:07] Yet that's next year so i still have a week yet i get two weeks every year and if i roll one over

[00:18:12] I end up having three or four so we'll save it for next year not this one but save one make sure you

[00:20:27] Something small buy okay buy something small you don't really care about all right and buy a float plane that was my whole reason for buying the twin otter was taking it to

[00:20:38] Joe and all well dave gave me some floats that'll fit on my carbon z cub okay that would probably be what you wouldn't put them on i could do that i didn't like i told you there one of the members from our club here in springfield actually lives on the lake and has invited me and anybody else

[00:20:58] Wants to come out to fly off the lake over around his place that's funny that ironic so the other part of my yesterday story we didn't get to is we went out my wife piper and i went out with dave and and lori and dave's brother daniel on the lake on daniel's pontoon boat there is apparently on the lake somewhere i i get lost so i couldn't tell you where well i couldn't even get back to it but you go under like what felt like seven bridges and back in a corner there's just

[00:21:31] Like a completely like almost glass smooth part to the lake and it's like that's where i want to take

[00:21:37] Airplanes no boat traffic no houses it's not the party code was it yeah that's way for far away that

[00:21:44] Much i know it was it's twice as far that's towards chatham already yeah wow we went farther than i thought then yeah we went a long way so that's one i would like to actually do plus it's really

[00:21:56] Shallow back there so if the worst case scenario happens i'm leaving it it doesn't matter what i

[00:22:01] Am not getting in that water there were too many fishies swimming around and all that stuff that scare me and there's snakes somewhere there's probably alligators there's probably sharks that's

[00:22:10] Back where you saw the bobcat too oh that is yeah daniel saw bobcat so bring an rc tow boat or

[00:22:17] Something pull it back to the boat well we're out there on the pontoon the big boat moves to the

[00:22:23] Small boat yeah yeah but yeah it's it's ideal back there plenty of room yeah glass smooth no boat

[00:22:30] Traffic no houses excellent i want to do that i want to do that very much yeah then count me in just let me know okay just let me know i'll be ready for that definitely but you don't have it ready yet so how are you ready for it i can get it ready in a night well plan on that get it ready and then when we set it up we can actually do it and we're not waiting on you all right thanks yep i'll get it done i'll

[00:22:53] Get it done okay i've even had the bright idea of buying an extra umx all tricks and putting it on

[00:22:58] Floats i love that i think it's doable i love that idea i would love to see how that works a little

[00:23:04] Concerned about the exposed open framework servos on the bottom of the wing so i gotta figure out some way to get those kind of put some vinyl over them or something i don't know somehow to water resist those a little bit but i think other than that it's gonna be it'd be a blast well it does have the

[00:23:19] Plastic caps over them yeah so that should help a little bit you get that spray stuff you can spray on them extend those all the way out maybe yeah that's what i just got right what isn't that the one i just got from the you don't read how do why do i have to remember what airplanes you bought because you talked me into it yes that is that is one erratics and i think it was the old tricks you bought the erratics and you bought the umx all tricks yes okay that's my sales skills by the way that was at rc fast called nagging talked him into two of them nagging you're gonna love those though i have not steered you wrong on telling you an airplane to buy have i i can't say you have see

[00:23:55] I've got both of them i love both of them you will love both of them also

[00:23:59] And eventually gonna end up buying the bigger version of the all tricks i do believe are you probably depending on flies they were on sale not that long ago oh it flies great i've got one anytime you want all right i'll try not to do no thud yeah let's let's not go to whomp noise or whomp thud whatever it was why that's half the fun no i'm good i'm good i remember that day i do and that's what like that was third crash wasn't it two or three you had that day

[00:24:31] Yeah i did several bumps yeah i'd rather not oh i'm gonna try the pancake thing you guys always talk about though yeah that sounds like that'd be pretty fun it is i still have not taken either one of those out of the box of course you haven't i have not let's act like you've been busy oh i have

[00:24:47] Been yeah that's what i said some of those actually work for a living what all right so the umx ultrax that's a throw in the truck take it with you it comes in a box the size of a pizza i'm sure you can

[00:24:59] Hide a pizza in your truck a small pizza yeah but it's the problem of where i would fly it

[00:25:03] You can fly it in inside your trailer it's amazing how small an area you can fly this thing

[00:25:10] That is pretty true though yeah i better try it out first i can see myself doing something stupid

[00:25:16] In a way is nothing so yeah run into a state trooper with it you're gonna be fine yep apparently i'm

[00:25:22] Going to jail no no maybe have you do you have the batteries and stuff for it already i got everything

[00:25:29] Yep then what are you i just haven't got around messing with it i've been having everything else

[00:25:33] To do just chores and well that one literally there's nothing to do on it you put the i say literally nothing and i'm going to tell you what to do almost nothing to do on it you stick the rear stabilizers in and you put a battery in that's it that's it since you haven't hooked it up before it's going to go into bind mode because it's not going to connect to a radio right so it's going to go into bind mode and then load the files onto your controller to have those downloadable and that's all it takes it takes longer to charge the battery oh oh it takes a lot longer to charge the

[00:26:08] Battery than to get it ready all right yeah you guys got any plans to go into the field anytime soon

[00:26:13] Depends on the weather it's 99 humidity out right now yeah when i walked outside earlier i

[00:26:20] Started sweating from walking which i guess i do that a lot anyway because i'm fat but that's okay

[00:26:26] I'm right behind you don't worry oh you're you might have passed me i don't think that not yet

[00:26:30] I still got a hundred pounds to go oh my gosh that hurt anyway

[00:26:38] So the rest of my day yesterday after i went up to brian's he wasn't actually at the hobby shop but i called him and actually i texted him to make sure he's going to be there he called me said he wasn't but he said he's going to champagne for the fly-in that was in champagne they were having a warbird classic fly-in kind of thing which i forgot that was this this actually it's this weekend still since it's the weekend but anyway so i told him i was like that's cool i'll meet you there afterwards it's a little bit out of the way so i drove from his place to champagne and when i got there this is

[00:27:10] Perfect when i got there the gates are closed oh no gates are closed and locked oh i'm like what am i in the wrong place so i called him and he's like oh no they had a they had a big storm roll through so they closed everything up i probably should have called you oh wow you think so i mean i just went an hour out of my way and then have to drive a an extra hour to get home but no big deal thanks brian i appreciate that but apparently there's a big storm that came through by the time i got there

[00:27:41] It was nice out so i mean i'm surprised they closed everything down right because it was i mean it was still overcast but there was no wind it was still would have been a good day to fly it's

[00:27:53] Actually a nice field so runway everything see i've not been to that yet it's it's a nice field it's not very far off from e field eli eve damn eli eli field i could not think of any of that field for saved my life i've noticed but they have a nice paved runway a nice little building there i think

[00:28:10] They have power out there as well so i hear they have do they have cross runways they have two yes

[00:28:15] I believe so i believe so i've been out there think twice see that's so much farther of a drive for me

[00:28:20] Though that ends up being an hour and 25 minutes yep so an hour is like just about as far as i can justify but i'm glad i mean it's cool that it's a nice field that it's that close i would like to have seen it but i didn't so then on the way home we drove right by eli field so i went ahead and stopped there to see if anybody was out and there's a couple guys doing helicopters and i'm like why well i mean i don't get it i joke helicopters are cool if you're into that what if you was over there

[00:28:50] When i passed by then because i drove right by there and i looked over there was about three

[00:28:55] Three or four cars sitting over when i drove by yeah there was three when i was there like i pulled all the way in noticed it was nobody that i actually knew very well so i was like yeah we'll just head home and then to make up because piper like i wasn't planning on going to the the fly-in at all when we left in the morning piper came with me up to brian's and so after i talked to him and stuff i asked her do you want to go i said it's a place we've never been before and she was excited she's like yeah let's go so she was a little disappointed when we got there because that was a lot of car time for

[00:29:28] Her right and then after we stopped at eli field we didn't get out or anything so there's even more car time for her so we ended up stopping at the decatur zoo on the way home and spent about an hour there so that made her extremely happy it was a long day and then you threw the boat on on top of that yeah so then after that i got home we got home probably like we left about eight in the morning we got home about five ish i think right around five we're planning on having a little bit of time to kill before we went the out on the boat with you guys because luckily like you texted

[00:30:03] And said it was going to be a little bit later dave you texted and said there was a delay and stuff which i was fine with that and then everybody had power outages and stuff and ended up found out my mom and dad's power came back on and she asked how do i get off the generator i'm like we'll come in and do it so then we had to hurry up and leave quickly as opposed to taking our time and having time to kill but i'm so glad like i slept better knowing that they have power i'm sure they slept better knowing they have power so dave's power came on last night again too finally it was

[00:30:35] It was a long long day and a half for a lot of people lori's power came on at the same time as my mom and dad so she was happy about that so that helped out a lot i came home to power decided to throw

[00:30:48] Batteries on the charger and took my air tractor back out to the church again flew for a while nice everything was great until i came home today from working on the car to find out the power was out because the transformer blew up so it's been out for probably two or three hours now that's a pain

[00:31:04] It was i i get out of sorts when we don't have power like i i don't know why i just i get to be kind of cranky and moody which i know is surprising to you guys yeah that's what it is i know nobody saw that coming but yeah just ask crystal i'm not pleasant to be around i'm

[00:31:22] Jumpy i know i grew up with that in the country our power was off more than it was on so i mean to me the power i was like power's out oh that sucks and you go on yeah nope that's not how i am

[00:31:35] I wish i was but i just can't handle it for some reason well i was home long to take a shower

[00:31:44] And that's about it took an led lantern lantern inside the bathroom and showered underneath that

[00:31:49] And here i am nice well at least you showered i appreciate that yes i didn't think he was gonna

[00:31:55] Like me if i came over here and showered what's the difference there's a difference

[00:38:23] Well when you start it you should be at idle you shouldn't be full throttle so it's not going to move it forward a lot it's not going to give it's not going to break it's not that big of an

[00:38:37] Come into back of my legs so well yes but first off when you feel that it's not pulling it out and secondly with that that's tied down a lot more than you had it when you had your accident very true which was not tied down to anything no not much it was just wrapped around it was a cord

[00:38:55] Wrapped around the tail end and it was just hooked onto a fence apparently moving around it came out of the fence one oh see i didn't think it was actually i didn't think it was something came

[00:39:03] Unhooked it was unhooked it was laying loose so it worked its way loose somehow oh see i didn't

[00:39:08] Realize that i thought you forgot to hook it up to anything it was hooked onto something okay just i don't think i had to hook properly on there let alone just just a piss poor idea of doing so trying to rush beat the sun but i was telling dave earlier that i could still see that blade coming past my face and then seeing the second blade get my finger so how it shut off i don't know i might have been how it shut off you killed it with your hand you stopped the engine from rotating i mean i think about it

[00:39:45] Stop when you stop a blade hard enough or stop a motor hard enough it's not going to continue to run if you kill the inertial force of it right it's going to turn off and that's what you did with your

[00:39:54] Hand i was just happy it stopped well me too but yeah yeah took it out was it about two three weeks ago for the first time how'd it fly flew great it's awesome i got a fuel leak going on as you're pumping fuel into it i gotta look into but other than that she flew great it felt good to fly it again yeah just scared to death to start it just i'm looking at everything now i mean everything and

[00:41:30] On that one we've been picking up quite a few planes here lately with nav lights or just lights running throughout the fuse i thought you've only got five this year i'm referring to everybody that i know of that's been flying and like that night radiant has got lights all throughout it the air tractor has lights on you do you have night radiant i don't but that one of our new members just bought one i love it dave has one so and then of course you have your all tricks that has lights was it all around or just on the wing edges on the wing edges and then it has the small umx all tricks

[00:50:00] Well what i don't know if i actually got the the story the a10 all right i thought i had it set up the way sorry which a10 is this oh this is the free wing free wing motion rc a10 okay so good sized it's a good one it's the biggest one i've seen yet at a phone and this what battery two batteries two 50 c rated six thousand six cell packs wow okay and so half a tesla pretty much pretty much

[00:50:31] I was i was i was un for sure about a lot of things but i even called motion rc about this and i swore i read in the manual that the expo was up around like 80 some percent that seems high it was extremely high and was this a new plane no i bought it used okay but it used but whoever had it took good care of it put brakes on it and everything it was it was a nice setup

[00:51:00] Was was now it's just confetti and i took off and i knew as soon as it took off the ground i was in trouble because i'm pulling all the way back on the stick it's just barely lifting off the asphalt and all of a sudden it just went straight up and i fought it the whole way trying to bring in the land i was even just going to stall it and let it drop and at some point it got oh halfway across a lot and

[00:51:32] I was giving it full elevator to come back up and i deployed flap to try to slow it down it nose down it went straight into the asphalt it was not having nothing it was i literally watched both batteries almost come back toward me when it came out so it held both batteries oh my held both batteries that's an expensive expensive what those batteries cost at that time yes wow

[00:52:00] So made in flight made in flight and you tried to put the flaps down when you were having problems

[00:52:07] Trying to bring it back in to slow it down yes i put the flaps down hoping that i had the flaps correct i think i spent more time cleaning it than i did flying it it was that bad and of course any pictures no no it was something i didn't really want to remember real see i i guess crashes don't

[01:06:10] Get right back you're not who i thought you were no i've been talking to tommy about it you need to fly this thing because he was talking about he liked the f-105 and everything and it was actually flying pretty good i finally got it kind of straightened out and he was standing right there and it's like here here you go it's like handing the radio off to the side still staring at the airplane and i said oh it's reggie okay

[01:06:37] Oh that's funny yep it makes me so so much better well you did great though you didn't

[01:06:43] Great so there you go i was nervous the whole time i would have been too that's why i don't ever

[01:06:48] Say yes to that mm-hmm dave's got some pretty nice planes he does and i enjoy flying like that wow what the heck was that a bird was a hawk or something oh my little eagle yeah yes well anybody

[01:07:02] Could fly that thing i did fly that one you just said anybody could fly it well i did though i'm saying like that that's one of the few i've ever taken off of somebody's hands when they were flying

[01:07:11] It and there you go i don't know whoever designed the movements and everything on that they really had

[01:07:16] Their stuff together because it does fly great so by eagle you're talking about an actual eagle eagle eagle eagle which is made by whom that one was the dancing wings dancing wings eagle this bothered

[01:07:28] The birds too when you fly that oh yeah it gets the little birds all upset up in arms i remember that

[01:07:34] In streeter yeah not like that last year or whatever it was i remember that too but

[01:07:42] I'm looking forward to everything we're getting ready to jump into here soon so what are we jumping into we're jumping into oshkosh and then here in 11 months joe and all and whatever else that may come up so yes months yeah 11 months 10 months whatever it may be i'm i'm actually getting slowly but surely

[01:08:00] More and more hyped up about it i'm still excited i'm i'm still on the high from coming home from the last one so i want to make the next one even better one thing i wanted to ask you though we made a pact do you remember our pact last year when we were at the jet event in monticello oh for crying yes i

[01:08:21] Remember the pact about getting a jet and and i got a suburban instead no no i mean the the pact was

[01:08:30] Or the goal we had set and we both agreed upon in two years right to get it was to have and we're still not even a year into that so we still have over a year do you think you're going to make it do you think in with the amount that you've progressed in this last year you will be able to make that happen within the next 13 months or whatever it is i do not know to be honest if i had

[01:08:57] To sit here and tell you right now i'd tell you i have no clue i bought us bourbon and i bought the

[01:09:02] Nx20 okay you've also bought according to you five or six airplanes which is way under but if you get rid of a bunch of them you will be able to have money to pay and you said you're getting rid of them anyway why not instead of spending 200 300 400 five six hundred dollars on some of these other airplanes you have instead of buying the seven of those you're going to buy buy an actual turbine jet it's

[01:09:32] Possible i'm actually kind of sitting back watching you now see what i'm you're going to do as far as once you get it get it set up of course you got ally and your corner on this so i'm just kind of

[01:09:46] Watching well i'm i'm just in a holding pattern so once that happens and i get it that's all bets are off i will be working on it and hopefully flying it as soon as i can well obviously we have time or i have time well you should order one anyway shoot that's still not until what september or so i don't know i mean i don't know how much they've sold and what they're sold out on or when like if somebody puts an order in now it might not even be that container who knows i'm not gonna say no so say yes

[01:10:19] And go order it i'm not gonna say no not right now that's for sure i can wait a little bit and i'll wait till next year of worse come worse but i'll wait well i know you've been looking like you

[01:10:29] Sent me a couple of them that were for sale but i don't know how serious you were about anything like that or if that was just oh look at this just looking okay just looking i wasn't sure i mean i know what he said last year so i wasn't sure if he was going to back out on that or or what where are we going with this ron no i was just asking i was asking a simple question i'm still

[01:10:50] Looking i'm not saying no but right now i just got a couple other things i'm trying to take care of and no i didn't want to buy a damn truck but i did buy a truck so yeah there we are i get it like i i had

[01:11:01] Not planned on doing this right now anyway like i was hoping to get until probably next spring or early summer before i actually purchased anything or pull the trigger on something but honestly with that jet coming out that just seemed like it was perfect timing and well worth doing

[01:11:18] I know you didn't plan on buying that radio yet either but you did because it was perfect timing it was right there on a decent sale so i did not plan on buying mine but sure enough last day came with a 20 channel receiver price was right and there it is i mean i know like

[01:11:39] I don't know i'm i'm very glad i bought that radio like i am too i was afraid because that was a lot of money for what it is i was afraid that i was going to have like regrets buyer's remorse the next day that has not hit me and every time i turn it on and i use it i like it that much more it's a lot faster than at 12 was it oh my gosh yeah a lot like literally switching models on the 12 i you from the time that you select the model that you want to switch to to the time that the radio is

[01:12:11] On and you're able to get in the menu and change it 15 ish seconds which not bad like don't get me wrong that's not terrible versus the 10 minutes that was on the other one no no no 15 seconds on the 12 on the 20 oh it's like half a second like you watch that progress barns just it's quick i'm thinking of tommy's radio his is yeah his is pretty bad i don't know my dx9 still blows both of you guys

[01:12:40] As a way as i mean you turn it on it still seems like it takes forever for me i love my 813 click it's already well and see that when you move on and i honestly i don't know how the nx series

[01:12:50] Is with the ix series being android based and stuff you turn it on and you leave it on all day like you don't turn it off between flights like i did with the dx8 like when you are done with the dx8 you flip it off and the whole radio is turned off like with the ix series you turn it on it boots up it goes into the spectrum airware and all that kind of stuff and then when you're done with it between flights not for the day you just put it to sleep and it's still in sleep mode but it's on

[01:13:25] Okay we'll explain the very big battery it has on it well you have the same battery in yours so how

[01:13:31] Does that one work i charge it once i have it no no i mean like do you turn it on and then put it in sleep mode or you turn it on turn it off i've only used it once you oh my god all that you haven't

[01:13:41] Even have you flown with it yet yeah just one plane one plane's on that one oh that is the only thing that's on there is that f-16 and i left it on the whole time i was messing with batteries or doing whatever and it never moved nothing as far as the power moved oh yeah they last a long time i didn't know yeah that was one of the things when i was looking at it he was i remember me explaining that about how big the battery was on that and i was like okay that's better yeah better than what i'm used to but the 18 is actually getting a little old so i was kind of thinking maybe it might be time

[01:14:15] To upgrade and did it on wi-fi it was like that i couldn't believe how fast it was just oh the nx20 upgrade you mean oh yes yeah and i've had one other software update since then and it actually alerted me on my phone for that really so when i came home i just turned the radio on and boot it up and it gave his own self the software upgrade nice i was like yeah so you registered yours then you

[01:14:42] Registered yours yes i have not done that yet i need to yes i'm i'm actually happy with it just

[01:14:48] Gotta start using it yeah just gotta start using it oh cool so we'll see we'll see i can't say i'm not happy with it anything else you want to talk about or are we no i think we're good i think we're good i think i'm bored everybody else all what's the time you say five oh god six or seven whatever it is now
