I was like wait, you want to do it and you said no, but you did it anyway. Good job. Well, hello everyone. We have daniel taylor back with us. Daniel is dave’s brother and the unofficial fourth, I guess I would say to the podcast. He goes with us everywhere we go loading spare- something only a brother could say. So he’s here to talk about what he’s been up to, and planes he’s bought and maybe not so many crash stories, but other things he’s been up to.

[00:01:13] We have a few things to talk about, but I want to start off by saying congratulations to the new ama president, greg stone. I don’t know if you guys had caught any of that he. So we reached out to all three candidates to see if we could have them on, and of the three we were ghosted by one. One of them said that they were interested and would like to do it, but never got back to me with a time to record, and the one came on the show and he ended up winning. So I’d like to. I’d like to.

[00:01:47] Think there’s a correlation. There probably isn’t, but I will. I will take credit for that, especially because there was a margin of 45 votes between the first and second height finisher. So I think a little over 7 000 total votes between the three and within 45, within 45 votes. I think we tipped the scales. I think so. Did you guys vote? Yeah, sure did, did you? No, shame, shame, shame. So they.

[00:02:18] Send you like 16 envelopes. Yeah, I’m gonna be honest, this is the first anything. Really, you are a member of the ama, correct, okay? And remember, eat the microphone when you’re talking. Yeah, I mean I.

[00:02:29] Think I got some emails but I never got anything in the mail oh they sent actual ballots out I don’t.

[00:02:33] Remember when it was, but well, maybe I’ll get a while back. Get it now. Yeah, they’ll show up in february, yeah. So I’ll be honest, this was the first time I ever voted and I think we know why I voted for, who I voted for. Yeah, you think we know too well. I mean, honestly, if only one guy, when, when you’re an rc airplane podcast and there’s only one guy that thinks it’s worthwhile to come on and kind of talk about what he’s, his plans are and what he wants to do for the hobby, being ghosted doesn’t bode well.

[00:03:07] No, no, for being accessible. I agree, and that was kind of my thought, like if something happens and you need to get an answer or something. I didn’t find that to be too promising. I mean, tell me, no, tell me to pound sand, whatever, but tell me something, yeah, just don’t. Anyway. Crickets, exactly so congratulations. Greg is our new president. I have no clue when that starts. I don’t know what the whole swearing in ceremony is, or if there’s a big like ball or all that stuff or what, but here’s your key to the washroom. There you go. Pretty much that’s probably all it is, but anyway, so I think I’m not going to.

[00:03:42] Say what I think, because that might be completely talking out of my butt. I don’t know how long they serve or what that is. Is it three years? I have three years in my head, but not a clue. Anyway, we should have done some research, or I should have first, but that’s how we do it. We don’t. You get it as you get it, so who’s next dave? What have you been up to? I have been making a mess out of my workshop.

[00:04:12] Does that mean you’re doing something or just making a mess both well good so I’ve got fish tank.

[00:04:18] Stuff going in there yeah nothing major there just moving some livestock around and maintenance.

[00:04:28] So I’ve been working on the 13th squadron 109. Oh yeah, foam board kit. How’s that going? That’s all framed up and it. I’ve brushed a layer of primer on it. I had a issue with it. I sprayed it with some rust-oleum primer and all the paper peeled off. Oh so, yeah, that was fun. So all the paper’s been pulled off of it and I’ve just brushed on some kills white primer.

[00:04:59] Just to give it paint, something to stick to. So what’s that going to do for a structure, anything? I have no idea. It’s bound to be less sturdy, yeah, but it’s not exactly a high performance aircraft, so I don’t really think it’s going to matter, really don’t know. We’ll find out. That’ll be probably a spring thing. Then, yeah, I’ll get it done here, probably over christmas. Well, but for maidens, for maiden, yeah, yeah it’ll be. Unless we get a nice warm january day spring thaw, anything’s possible. We.

[00:05:34] Don’t know. But yeah, just getting a couple layers of white primer on it and then get the airbrush out and the acrylic paints and we’ll, we’ll get it dressed up a little bit so that’s well on its way. And then, while the paint’s drying, I need something to do. So I pulled down my wonder that I had a little boo-boo with last spring. Is that the one that kept biting you? Yeah, it bites, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you need to feed it occasionally. It likes to bite the little 15 or whatever you have on it. Yeah, I feel stupid using a starter on it, but it likes to bite. Safety first, I don’t, I think.

[00:06:10] It just hurts. It’s never drawn blood per se, but it’s smarts, yeah. So anyway got it up going. I was using it for the first time with the new radio this spring and was just having an absolute blast flying it, because the wonder is just a total treat to fly, and just stayed up too long. I keep forgetting it’s got a two ounce fuel tank in it, so even the 15 will drain through two ounces of fuel pretty darn quick, and I got myself in a bad position when it died, so I ended up landing.

[00:06:40] Fast downwind way down the field from us. It must have caught weed sticking up or something if it spun it around, then flipped it over and it cracked the horizontal tail. Not bad enough to really say it’s broken, but bad enough that it needed fixed. So with that one do you fly it till it dies.

[00:07:01] Or do you usually land before it’s I shut it off I try to come around with enough fuel and then shut.

[00:07:06] It off after I know I’ve made the field and everything looks good. Okay, it is a little 15 glow engine. I have landed it with it idling and it’s fine. It doesn’t really. I use a master air screw prop on it, so it’s. It hasn’t ever hurt it. It gives a little, yeah, I, but I just don’t like doing that, so I always make sure it’s off. Yeah, but as ed need recovered for several years, it was getting pretty shabby. I don’t know. Sometimes old ultra coat, like the color layer separates from the clear. Yeah, and was.

[00:07:40] Getting a lot of that. It was just looking tacky, so now’s as good as time as any to strip it down and start fresh. And then I’ve taken in a couple rc cars to get fixed for people trying to generate a little cash flow for airplane parts. So nice, that’s pretty much what I’ve been up to.

[00:08:02] Huh, the rc car thing reminds me. I saw on facebook toledo is not going to be doing the rc racing this year. That’s sad, but understandable. I had fun, the timing was just bad, I think.

[00:08:16] Yeah it definitely took away from the swap meet side of things there was a lot that.

[00:08:21] Ah, that’s sorry. That’s my reminder for piper to get ready for bed, since this is a school night. You’ll hear it again in a half hour. It’ll say: it’s actually time for bed anyway, but you’re keeping people down here. Well, you don’t know what am I getting into. It’s what you’re not getting out of it, it’s more like it. Yeah, but anyway, timing on that was just it. It took away from when we needed to be at the table, right to do that and always having to swap somebody out.

[00:08:54] Somebody was always missing out because they had to be at the table yeah but it was fun yeah it would.

[00:09:00] Have been nice to be a separate event in downtime but whatever I sorry that just reminded me of that.

[00:09:06] Anyway, that’s where we’re at with, yeah, a little car, a little car, action, big, big monster trucks. What do you got, or what are they? There’s a clodbuster, a juggernaut and some sort of ancient traxis.

[00:09:18] Thing a little buggy so that is all before my time yeah I’ve heard of the clodbuster but that’s.

[00:09:26] Other than that’s the extent it’s it’s very old school monster truck stuff very stiff suspension.

[00:09:32] Basically no suspension in it, kind of like the original actual monster truck. Yeah well, they wouldn’t do anything except just stiff. Yeah, I got one of them running last night. So by running, so I assume nitro electric, oh, everything’s electric, so what? I mean? It’s a brushed motor, so what one?

[00:09:55] Of them. He had a brand new radio system so I had to set up the four-wheel steer and a brand new in the fly sky radio. I’ve never used a fly sky. It’s not a four-wheel steering, four-wheel steer I.

[00:10:06] Didn’t know that’s cool yeah I got a little rock crawl crawler truck it’s four-wheel.

[00:10:12] Steer nice yeah I’ve got it let’s be sure to speak up and talk into this much closer well okay maybe.

[00:10:18] Not closer than louder. Okay, like you’re yelling at me, the little fly sky radio is not a bad feeling. A little radio. I still prefer my spectrum radio, that I’ve got to it, but it’s a. It’s not a bad little radio. Yeah, pretty easy to program. The instructions came with it were completely useless, so it was pretty much just push buttons until I made it do what I wanted it to do. Yeah, and then the clodbuster. It’s got a steering issue. I think it just needs some steering work. But

[00:10:50] I don’t have a battery for it right now so I have to I got some parts on the way and well if it’s.

[00:10:56] I mean assuming it’s a new enough servo you can always just use a servo tester to.

[00:11:03] Yeah, I also need to check other setup on it, so it’s kind of a package deal. I just want to go through it, make it right for the guys. Yeah, I get it cool. Oh good, something different. Yeah, a little cash flow Reggie keeps threatening to bring me a wing to recover. That never shows up, so

[00:11:21] Oh Reggie he could keep you busy all winter it was supposed to have been at my house sunday.

[00:11:26] Morning, at some point or saturday afternoon, but it never showed up. No what? I don’t believe that. I believe that, yeah, it’s very blue. It’ll show up eventually, maybe, probably in the worst possible time. I don’t have time for it. Hey, I know you got 85 things on your desk, but here’s another one. Oh, and I ordered a new airplane too. You, what? What did you order? I ordered a dancing wing.

[00:11:53] Is it dancing wing dancing wing hobby yeah is that what you guys got no who’s the.

[00:11:59] The eagles from dancing wing and the cardinals were from dancing wing okay I knew you guys had.

[00:12:04] Got something from there but I couldn’t remember which ones it was this is the little yak 55.

[00:12:07] Grayson hobby had it on sale and they had one of their weird coupons, 5.55 Percent off. I don’t know where they come up with their percentages, but there’s always an oddball.

[00:12:18] They got you to buy it though didn’t it and it’s making you talk about it yeah it is so there you.

[00:12:22] Go they won they did what they wanted to do and now they have brain space taken up yeah so.

[00:12:28] 3D type airplanes are not my thing but I’d like to have something lightweight and cheap to knock.

[00:12:33] Around so I’m assuming this is the profile 3d thing or fat profile yeah it’s got a real.

[00:12:40] Thick fuselage. I wouldn’t say it’s just a flat plate, but it’s like a. I don’t know, I haven’t got it yet, but it looks like it’s about an inch and change thick. Oh, so it’s just like several pieces of foam together. Yeah, okay, I gotcha. It looks nice it’s. Some people say it flies awful because it’s heavy. Well, I don’t care. Yeah, I really don’t care. I’m not a 3d pilot, right? Neither am I. No, probably never will be, although I’d like to be and the price was right. Complete package came with two props.

[00:13:10] Nice, what the heck. And it was 5.55 Percent off. You can’t, you can’t pass that up, can you? Speaking of grace and hobby? I thought I heard something about closing up shop. Yes, I’ve gotten a.

[00:13:28] Couple emails from them recently. They are closing their showroom. Actually, I think it is closed by the time this goes live. Okay, so they are closing their showroom or whatever. The hobby shop- physical hobby shop- is closing then just to concentrate on online sales. So I mean that I hate to say it, but

[00:13:50] That kind of makes sense that’s where everything is now right you have such a farther reach and where.

[00:13:56] Are they located? Anyway, they are loganville, georgia, which, from my understanding, is a suburb of the atlanta. Oh okay, I’ve bought several things from them over the years. Really nice folks, good prices, service is great kind of. You’ve never been there, have you? Because I’ve never been to georgia? No, really, actually, I’ve driven through georgia but I’ve never, never, had a reason to stop in georgia other than to go to the restroom something behind in georgia. Yes, I’d left a deposit.

[00:14:27] But they’ve been really nice anytime I’ve worked with them. Good stuff, good prices. Kind of sad to see that their showroom is closed, but hopefully they’ll be able to segue this into a more productive online presence. Yeah, I, I would. I would think you won’t see any downsides to that.

[00:14:45] Because that will give them more time to focus on they’ll concentrate more what everybody else can see.

[00:14:49] Be more of a local yeah so anyway grayson hobby loganville georgia but doesn’t matter because.

[00:14:59] You can’t go there anymore nope so what else so we’ve had a couple swap meets I’ve been to one.

[00:15:05] Daniel’s been to two yep dave’s been to one I’ve been teaching class but I was able to finagle.

[00:15:12] Away into last weekend and then we also have just a couple of them coming up, that’s. It seems like there was more last year, but I know, and maybe that’s because I missed, I missed the columbia one. I usually go to that one, but we were busy with stuff. Yeah, that was a good one too. There was, we’ll talk, yeah, wasn’t it? When’s the belleville one that was around the same time? See, because I looked

[00:15:39] It up in the next the next one’s up in beloit the first I think it’s the first weekend january.

[00:15:47] January I assume we’re hitting that one again too I’m sure I love getting up at three in the.

[00:15:52] Morning to go to beloit wisconsin yeah it’s I mean it’s kind of become it’s kind of a good one though.

[00:15:56] I mean it’s growing, yeah, and it’s kind of become a tradition, like we’ve done the last two years, so why not make a three-peat might as well? Yeah, I’m all for it. Cool, I got nothing else in january.

[00:16:13] Stuck with the two trip stick. Yes, for those of you who don’t know, it took two trips, 100 miles away, to pick this airplane up, because we couldn’t get it all fit in the truck, because daniel may have.

[00:16:24] Had that other problem a couple weekends ago too, so somebody got too short on a short bed truck. You should just take your trailer with you everywhere. I any more, I thought about I. Well, I asked david friday night. I said: are we taking it to decatur? And he said: no, I don’t think we need it. So and we did, and we didn’t, yeah, but yeah, yeah, I didn’t even see your car when I was there, I think.

[00:16:51] I was there before you had the tundra you probably weren’t looking for it yeah his truck we took his.

[00:16:55] Truck oh because it’s got a longer bed parked next to Reggie so well when I when I pulled in I was.

[00:17:01] Looking for trailers to see who was there and I didn’t see yours. So no, and I just took the car because I knew I wasn’t coming home with anything big, because there is no room, it’s a self-limiting plan. Yeah, then I knew you guys were going to be there too, just in case. One way I look at it.

[00:17:18] But it’s close enough let me run home grab the trailer and come back right or yeah.

[00:17:23] For me it was a like 28 minute drive or something, so it’s nothing but anyway, so it also kept me from bringing anything big back too. Yeah well, let’s start with columbia, though, before we get to decatur, because we’ll go in chronological order, because if not, then I always get confused.

[00:17:39] Tell me about columbia. How was it? Columbia was good this year, was it? There was quite a few people there. Would you say bigger, smaller, or the same as no, I’d say bigger, bigger, okay, and there was a lot of things going in and out. So, and I’m trying to think columbia because I get, yeah, you sent me a lot.

[00:17:56] Of pictures I always I always forget where these are because there’s also one in granite city down there.

[00:18:01] Too. There’s columbia, missouri and columbia, illinois, and they’re not that far. Well, but what? This is just off of 255. It’s like what kind of building it was. Is it the vfw hall? It may have been a.

[00:18:16] Vfw hall is that the one we went to last year where they had closed it off more no okay no I thought.

[00:18:27] That was two. I don’t know which one that was. That might have been granite city, maybe. So this was. I think this was like a vfw hall, okay, I believe. So yeah, but no, it was. It was full and there was a lot of things going in and out and some stuff that I didn’t get. I saw when I went in and I’ll make a minute, I’ll make a round and come back, and it was: never do that. Never do that. If there’s something you want, you get it. Then I watched a guy walk in with something because I was

[00:18:59] I got there a little early, so I was sitting there and I was. There was a guy in the trailer next to me and he was unloading. He came out with one of the oh, the paraglider, paraglider, oh, like david, like david has. So I saw him unload that I was like, okay, well, I’m gonna look, look for it when I go in. Should have asked him then. I probably should have, because I literally went in five minutes later, went to stable and it wasn’t there. So either he was bringing it in for somebody or he sold it as he was walking in with it. So because it was nowhere to be found. Hmm, probably a good deal then that you

[00:19:33] Missed oh yeah next time speak up those are fun little birds too well that’s what I thought if I.

[00:19:38] Get it priced right, I’ll try it. I mean it’s once you get the launch down, they’re fun. Yeah, man, Reggie’s nailed that. It’s just a lot of strings, though that’s. I’m worried about getting tangled. You cannot tangle them. They’re all anchored so it other than spinning and twisting, you cannot tangle. That’s the only thing that worries me. It’s like I’ll end up getting it’s like. Don’t say cannot, I mean.

[00:19:59] That’s, challenge accepted, I bet I could. Yeah, well, look, I’m not very good with bait casters either. That turns out to be a big. I’m assuming that’s fishing. That’s all. Yeah, I’m sorry I don’t fishing. Yeah, it’s. I was a tangled up mess by the time I get done with them. So, but yeah, so very a lot, of a lot of people. I mean, the parking lot was full and I got there at

[00:20:26] Probably what was it? Eight, eight, thirty, eight, forty five, and then parking lot was full and it opened technically at nine. Nice, I think maybe it was eight. I got there something, whatever. But yeah, I got there. I got there like 15 minutes before it was open and the parking lot was full. Yeah, a lot.

[00:20:41] Of times they have people showing up like an hour early for setup. Yeah, and that’s that’s when it’s a good time to be there. Maybe I should have went out. Okay, it didn’t matter, because I came home with a truckload anyhow, so it’s well, before we get to what you got, then anything else that you missed.

[00:20:59] Like you had the paramotor that you wanted. Yeah, there was a cub with I don’t know. He had a four stroke on, I’m not sure, because I didn’t make it back in time. They came with two wings guy won 100 bucks for it. I mean it wasn’t. It was a sharp looking, wasn’t bad I mean. So I thought, okay, well, I’ll do a loop and I come back and I think, well, I’m gonna you and your loops, I know, stop it. Well, I have to check everything out. I mean you don’t want to spend all your money in one spot.

[00:21:25] And then you see: well, obviously you could have sold it again. You could just walk up and be like what? I’ll take a table now? Yeah, exactly, let me put all these planes I just bought on it.

[00:21:33] But yeah, so. But I walked around and I was getting ready to talk to the guy and there was a guy there buying it, so that one went out the window. So that’s fine, I left the money for other things.

[00:21:43] True so that was the only other one that you yeah that you’re up yeah no that was the only other one.

[00:21:50] I really saw that I was going to talk about getting and didn’t okay then let’s go back to what did you.

[00:21:58] Get so I got so memorable he can’t remember I’m trying to think which one so are we going in.

[00:22:07] Order we go. Are we going in order? Let’s go in order the ones I got first. So first one I got which? David wasn’t there, so I’m sending pictures back and forth trying to figure out if this is a good deal. I’m in the shower to get ready to go to class and I’m, I’m and you can’t get signal in the building, so I had to walk out every time sitting in pictures.

[00:22:26] Yeah that’s I keep popping out dripping all over the floor going well I hope my phone’s waterproof.

[00:22:31] So the first one I found- it was the same guy that brought the paramotor in, but he had a stents and I don’t know what size it’s- a it’s it’s 100 inch. Yeah, it’s. Wow, it’s a good size stents. I’ve got the smaller version. I’ve got the, the small, what, I don’t know what brand it is, the red one.

[00:22:51] That we got from brian oh that is a.

[00:22:56] Yeah, just a second. Anyhow, I’ve got the smaller one nitro motor. This is, like I say, about twice, if not third, three times the size. It’s. It’s close to almost the cub size, but not as long, not quite. Yeah, yeah, that’s so fabric covered, I mean everything except the motor. It doesn’t have the motor. It’s got servos, it got had a seven channel spectrum receiver in it. Oh nice, pretty much just stick a motor on it and I think we’re good to go. Yeah, it’s got.

[00:23:29] A little thing of rash. Yeah, it’s a little. It’s an older, it’s an older plane, but I mean it’s. It’s nice looking. I mean there’s no physical, it’s perfectly serviceable. Yeah, so that’s, that’s like right up your alley. I don’t like them. I mean the only one stagger. I’d like to have another stagger wing. Yeah, so I’ve never had one and that’s probably one of the only I had the fns, yeah, stagger wing and it finally. Well, I couldn’t get parts for it. That’s what ended that one. Yeah, so he got gutted, but yeah, so I got that. That was the first one that went to the truck.

[00:24:04] Which no problems with the wings on that, because two-piece wing they’re short to begin with. So yeah, everything went in. So then I went back in, found you a motor. Yep, we got an os surpass 48.

[00:24:19] For a ridiculously low price so and it shows very little use so then so I got that nitro stuff is.

[00:24:29] Not as popular as it used to be so I can’t believe a 48 four stroke and he I would walk by I wouldn’t.

[00:24:34] Even look at he said: here, make me an offer on it. I said I wouldn’t even know what to offer you on it and he said 40 bucks and I said: well, let me, let me text somebody. I know. I offered him 30, I know a guy 35. So yeah, I know a guy, I know a guy, let me give you 20. Yeah well, I tried 13, that didn’t go.

[00:24:52] Well, now that was works out really well. 35 For this engine is a steal. I almost feel bad about it. But what are you putting it on? Don’t know, I don’t have anything for it, but oh for how it begins.

[00:25:04] For 35 I can’t pass up a four stroke yeah they do sound good yeah and like I said this one’s.

[00:25:10] Nearly new. I pulled the plug. Plug’s got a little carbon on it. There’s no goo on the exhaust whatsoever. Looking into the cylinder, the top of the cylinder head has no carbon whatsoever. So it’s it’s been ran.

[00:25:23] But not much. Yeah, nice, so, yeah. So then the next one. Well, I was headed to look at this one when the guys told me about the motor was I ended up getting a cub, another, smaller, another cub, another.

[00:25:39] Cub: once again a ridiculously cheap price. Yeah, very, very cheap price for what it was. Yeah, I mean it’s it’s rough, but it’s flyable. Pretty much got it for the motor 80 size four stroke. So oh, wow, so.

[00:25:53] So that’s wingspan on that then probably. Well, that’s what got me in trouble. It wouldn’t fit in the bed of my truck, the wing wouldn’t. It’s a one piece wing, so bigger. So that’s a five and a half foot.

[00:26:04] Bed I was gonna say I was thinking like 60 inch wingspan so obviously we’re bigger than that.

[00:26:08] Yeah, because it. Yeah, it was going to stick out the back, but since nobody wanted to go with me, I had plenty of room. The guy goes: well, just lay your seat back. So I was able. With the extended cab, I was able to lean the seat back and slide it in. So it rode in the passenger seat on the way home, if not.

[00:26:26] It would have been sticking out of the back of the truck. It’s not that nobody wanted to go with me, by the way. I had things I had well. Well, it just wasn’t you, it was other people. I asked too, and they didn’t go.

[00:26:36] So I’m looking at your brother no I knew he couldn’t go no it was friends of mine.

[00:26:42] No one of them was going down gambling I get it yeah so I asked my actual friends they said no.

[00:26:48] And I texted you. No, I was just trying to feel a seat. But so, yeah, that was the wing issue. Yeah, I, I said I can’t believe this and the guy’s standing there watching me. I was like, don’t watch, just go away. I’m thinking, well, break the tips off, it’s fine. It was an easy repair so. So I did get that. The motor had a little couple little issue. It didn’t have any compression.

[00:27:14] We took it apart and the valves were stuck. Yeah, the lifter was stuck in the bore, so a little bit of just working. It took the rods out and sprayed wd-40 down. I got, so I got them going. I still didn’t have compression when I put everything back together. Just had to adjust the lifters on it so the valves were being held open. A little bit they were out of whack. Yeah, a little too much. So I got compression now and we’re should be good. Yeah, it seems like it should run. Yeah, it’s got good.

[00:27:42] Compressions bearings are good compression let’s see it would be fun if it wasn’t nitro.

[00:27:47] I know it’s I get it but until they start making smaller gas.

[00:27:56] That’s the problem so well and for the same price I mean that’s the thing too like that.

[00:28:00] Robin hood, I got that. That’s the one I got in toledo. You can’t. It’s either electric or nitro. I mean, yeah, they don’t make a 30 size four stroke. You put in that, though that was a little unicorn to find.

[00:28:11] Anyway I can’t believe we actually found that for the price we found it for yeah.

It was already built but it came. But it came with the box, the plans row, a couple rolls of covering and it’s not it more than

[00:29:24] Anything it needs. The covering needs shrink. I mean it’s that would help it a lot, but it’s got it’s kind of gross looking. Yeah, it’s got the wire, it’s got the nice wire wheels, so he they have the foam, metal wire wheels. Yeah that’s. But again those can be pricey. It was dirt cheap. 20 Bucks. 20 Bucks, oh my god. With the motor, with without. Without a motor. Without a motor, yeah, without. He’s got servos and he’s got an ancient old, what 72 megahertz receiver had the antenna hanging down the back of it.

Well, and I kind of see why he was pressing so much to get rid of it, because he had bought a plane and he was having the same problem I had. He was trying to get everything in the bed of his truck and the biplane was in the way. So, okay, yeah, so that’s, that’s sitting in my trailer until tommy comes back. So what is it? I, I don’t know. I didn’t really look at it that close. It might be a super spuster pipe, I’m not. Yeah, I don’t know. Oh cool.

He’s got the ribs, that’s so you can put everything back. So rip the landing gear off. Landing gears there. I mean it’s doable. I mean it’s very easy, easy fix. So how did that? So, was that something he

And he says, oh, so he, he goes, you must be the brother that’s got the loud stick. I said, yes, that would be me. I said that, yeah, I said yes, so I am known as, yeah, the one with the loud stick. I guess that’s why I call him but sticks, sticks, yeah, multiple sticks, yeah, oh, that’s funny. Yeah, so anyhow, he was.

[00:33:11] He had it on the table, wanting to sell it, and it was dirt cheap. And then he finally said, here, just take it. And then basically it was: yeah, he was trying to load a big plane in the bed of his truck and

[00:33:20] Nice trying to figure out how to get the wing in. Yeah, I, I know the feelings, so that’s awesome. So you did at least have enough room for an extra one. Then, oh, yeah, yeah, I mean it was in pieces. So, yeah, already a few more pieces, right? Actually, the truth be told, it was probably not even broken at all, but the only way he could get it to fit was rip the landing gear off and break off a couple ribs.

[00:33:42] So yeah, I’ll have to look at it again. I don’t know, I didn’t really look at it long enough to figure out what it is. It might even be like a ace 440 biop or something like that. I don’t know what it is. I’ll have to look at it. So at least tell me what he’s getting into when he gets back.

[00:33:55] So, yeah, it’ll be in my trailer waiting for him. So for a few more months, a few more months or I can bring in here, I guess, take it to texas, just leave it, you’re fine. Well, the trailer is going to go be put away this weekend anyhow, so when the snow is coming. So I did that tonight. How sad is.

[00:34:20] The basement and it’s going down the storage unit for the winter along with my boat. I went the opposite way. I took a few planes from the basement into I just trailer to store. I didn’t know how the cold would be on and that’s the reason I pull now. The biplane will stay out there. I mean, obviously it’s not going to cause problems. But you’re right, my sticks and stuff I went out of there because I just don’t want them out in the cold. I typically will pull any LiPo batteries.

[00:34:56] Honestly, oil your engine’s up good, and the other issue is it’s not being at my house. It’s down in a storage unit. Even though the storage unit is it’s fenced in, you got to have a code to get in, but I mean there’s probably 40 other stalls so there’s other people, not that you can’t go in the. We’ve not had a problem since they put the fence up, but still I- it’d be my luck- I leave the stuff in there and I go down there and padlocks cut and doors open and but they still gas.

It’s never good when you get a call from landlord at 10 o’clock at night saying you need to go down and check your boat. He said we caught somebody stealing fuel. And they, they did. They siphoned 30 gallons out of my boat. I just had filled it up. Oh my god, yeah, they took it. They took it all. It was on the chain. Yeah, yeah, but they had. They caught him. Yeah, I mean, but then he, he put the fence up the week after that, but we haven’t had, as far as I know, problems since. But I don’t want to take that chance. Yeah, no, I get it.

I have not flown for a long time and I, honestly, with weather and stuff, I think I’m done flying for the year, unfortunately, but new year’s day come on. Yes, that’s next year, though, so I’m done.

I’m sure he still has it- yeah, well, but he might have just chucked it. It was a giant pile of wood. It was different, though. Nobody’s gonna have one like it, nobody would ever have one, and it was all there. And that is right up for the most part. I

[00:41:15] It was yeah anybody measure wingspan no I’m guessing it’s somewhere around 80 to 100 inches it was pretty.

[00:41:22] Good size. It was bigger than 80 because I think I mean the each wing half was more than four feet. Yeah, so it was. It was up there. It was a good size airplane, although you notice how the wings split. That was weird too. No, I didn’t pay too much attention. So you, you have your. I don’t know my terminology. So you have the main center section right. That usually sometimes stays on biplanes, whatever that’s called, where the cabanes kind of attach and stuff. So on a lot of them that I’ve seen before, you have that. That stays with the airplane and then wing halves. So this was a two panel wing but one wing.

[00:41:56] Was built into that center section. So the center section was whole and then it included, like I said, completely connected and built into the, the one wing, the, the wing half and then the other one connected to the other half, came off. But it there was no. Like you could tell whatever structures were needed for flying, like flying wires, or whatever struts or supports were on. It would be absolutely necessary because there was, there was, there’s no structure. Well, dowel rods were there for alignment.

[00:42:26] Yeah like there was no wing tube or anything right there’s no carbon tube or aluminum or even.

[00:42:32] Yeah dowel rods that are an inch yeah it was literally a line aligning tool yeah like little quarter.

[00:42:37] Inch dowels just to make sure it was installed correctly it would have been different nobody would have.

[00:42:43] I know another one but well I mean we can try and make contact I got enough no that’s what my wife.

I mean, you’re not trying to fly exactly in the hatch cover’s been cut out of like quarter inch plywood, so it’s yeah, that’s, that’s not airplane ply by no, no, no, no, it’s so that’s, that’s gonna. That’s gonna change. There’s a few things changing on. The rudders are changing. I already got the new rudders cut. What’d you make them out of, by the way? Because those rudders they just balls. The same thickness balls, I think they were.

[00:45:58] Light ply previously and they were pretty cracked and yeah so it’s yeah they had like blocks on each.

[00:57:06] Oh the mcx is mcx yeah I actually just broke mine a couple days ago I had to order spare parts.

[00:57:12] The reason I got this is because the parts are dirt cheap. That’s. That’s what leaned me into that one. Yes, I mean, the blades are like the main blades are like six or seven bucks. Yeah, I saw, I mean, so I’m figuring there’s a lot of. If I crash it, boom, I can get cheap parts. And well, hopefully you don’t.

[00:57:31] I know but maybe hopefully you do and then you’re like ah helicopters ugh let’s go back to and I got.

[00:57:37] A little to take it to I guess but no it’s I like flying my helicopter from time to time it’s.

[00:57:41] Gonna be something different. So I like scale helicopters, but other than that, like it just doesn’t do much for me for some reason, but I like watching other people with scale hop or

[00:57:51] Helicopters it’s not anything I want to do I like just watch them fly around but the 3d flip flop back.

[00:57:56] Forth it that it scares me it doesn’t gonna be honest like it concerns me because like that’s moving.

[00:58:02] Very fast I’m just I don’t move that fast stress on those like yeah and just the sounds I make I mean.

[00:58:09] It’s. Yes, I’ve seen, like at the, at the field, I’ve seen some huge ones that are, I mean, like bigger than this table, like the, whatever, the- I don’t know sizes, but like I said, they’re, they’re huge and they run on, I think, 12s, like 10 000 milliamp hour batteries and it’s like, oh, my god, watching them fly that.

[00:58:30] Impressive, yet concerning, in a scary way, bad props for the skills. But right, not my thing. Yeah, I’m the same way, but it’s still fun to watch from a very far distance. Just in case, I’ve had a set of.

[00:58:44] Blade weights come flying at my head for my own helicopter. I don’t want to do that again. See, oh yeah, you haven’t had fun until you had a whip shaped lead weight come flying at your head. It’s funny. So, anyhow, not funny, I guess. But concerning: yeah, a little bit, we’ll see how this.

[00:59:03] Goes so good for you, though you’re getting back into something. Yeah, I’m glad to see more fundage going towards hobbies. It’s fun to hear other people buy things, because I haven’t had a chance to buy stuff recently. I have been very remiss in my airplane purchases this year. We’ll see how change this- probably not this year, but yeah, we’ll see what. We’ll see what next year brings.

[00:59:26] It doesn’t help that brian keeps putting stuff on facebook either. I know my gosh. It’s like I’m waiting for a certain stick to come up, that I’ve been walking upstairs and hasn’t been there yet.

[00:59:41] Doing a lot more. He’s been doing it almost every day now, which I like. Yeah, I mean he grabs like four or five and puts on there, so I mean he’s finding the wings to go with them, the ones he’s.

[01:01:55] Yeah, I did that with tommy because he couldn’t hit toledo that one year and that was. That was a good spot. Bigger, no, it’s not. Well, it’s in multiple buildings. I wouldn’t say it’s bigger square footage wise in toledo it’s, there’s a lot to it, but square foot wise, no, definitely not bigger than toledo, but there’s a lot. There’s a lot of good planes there, or there was. I mean I should say there was a bunch vendors, but I mean I know toledo’s bringing a lot of the vendors, yeah, no.

[01:02:26] Not many vendors, it’s more of just an actual swap. I mean there’s a few there, but nothing, nothing like toledo. And it’s not set up the same way as toledo, to where there’s a bunch of vendor booths there’s, there’s tables and stuff and vendor tables, but nothing, no booth set up, kind of.

[01:02:43] Like a trade show and that’s that’s what it was kind of trying to get back to which that’s the way it.

[01:02:49] Was: yeah, and it’s heyday. Well, hopefully the heyday is and it’s still to come, I think so. I mean, it’s every year it’s getting bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger every year. [01:03:41] Talk about that was released. It’s not necessarily new, okay, so I lied, it’s a revision. You a v2? A v2, I guess you could call it that. Actually they do call it that. Oh, cool, free weighing f14 tomcat twin v2 64 millimeter edf jet plug-and-play. It is seems like they just brought this out, the 64 millimeter f14, and not too long ago, a year or so. Right, yeah, maybe. From what I was understanding, there are quite a few complaints about it. People are having trouble landing it. I think for majority of them were.

[01:04:18] People didn’t understand how to land it. Bad technique, okay, because I saw footage of people landing them. Just fine. I personally haven’t flown one, so I can’t say one way or another, but they’ve redesigned the wing on it and I can’t tell. It looks exactly the same to me, but I don’t see them side by side here- new livery and a new wing. Other than that it’s the same 64 millimeter f14, probably the best flying f14 out there that I’ve seen. So obviously sweep doing.

[01:04:50] Or swept wing, fully swept sweepable wing, with the spoiler ons and the flaps and the get go. Also, it has ailerons too, or is that all? It has ailerons and spoilers and, oh wow, all kinds of fun stuff here. I think I saw somewhere it takes like up to nine channels, is it? Is it retractable gear? Yes, cool, seven to nine channel, there you go. Nine channel with thrust, reverse and gyro modes. Okay, absolute minimum of seven channel. And what’s the? What’s the damage?

[01:05:23] Substantial, oh, 585 dollars, I mean, which doesn’t sound awful. Then you realize it’s 64 millimeter, but it’s about 64.. Yeah, so I mean I mean that would be good size, because that.

[01:05:39] That f18 hanging up over there is twin 40s yeah so sizable it’s it’s a very nice airplane for the.

[01:05:48] Money. It’s. Let’s see. I’m trying to find the wingspan extended wingspan 49.2, So it’s a four footer. Yeah, that’s not bad. How long is it then? I don’t know. You would ask that. What’s that mean, dave? It’s 15th scale. Does that help? No, how long is the real one? I don’t know. It weighs 90 ounces. Trying to stay close enough to the mic here to read this with my bifocals.

[01:06:21] Or librarian. I don’t have a length here that- oh there, it is 47.9, So it’s almost square. Okay, not bad, and I don’t think it has the swept span. Less than 48. Less than 48, yeah. 12 Blade fan, standard free wing stuff, a bunch of nice servos in it, gyro, probably metal gears and all that stuff, yeah.

[01:06:46] A gyro is already in it I believe so okay there you go daniel not that bad man if you.

[01:06:52] I mean everything. No, I was with it, like I mean, yeah, add a receiver and batteries. Does it say what battery now that you threw that down? I threw it down, okay, I think it’s.

[01:07:04] Their standard 5000 6s yeah 5000 6s that’s kind of cool I’m done with 6s batteries that’s true.

[01:07:11] Why the cost? I get it if I go 6s and I just go gas mower, which that reminds me I need to get all my

[01:07:21] Batteries out and throw them back on charge, just to make sure we’re good for the winter. It’s a good reminder. Do that, yeah. Put them all in store. Battery maintenance- everyone, yeah, battery maintenance.
