[unknown speaker 00:00:09] you got it you got it go on go on do it you're fine come on do it welcome to the rc plane lab podcast i'm dave i'm daniel i'm ron start from scratch though daniel come on you can do it
[00:00:25] Dave: hello everyone welcome to the rc plane lab podcast hello everyone welcome to the rc plane lab podcast i'm daniel there you go there you go that's all there is to it see it's so easy it's not easy i
[unknown speaker 00:00:36] get it it's it's very off-putting when you're not used to doing it and i literally spot literally put you on the spot after the music is playing i was like wait you want to do it and you said no but you did it anyway good job well hello everyone we have daniel taylor back with us daniel is dave's brother and the unofficial fourth i guess i would say to the podcast he goes with us everywhere we go loading spare something only a brother could say so he's here to to talk about what he's been up to and and planes he's bought and maybe not so many crash stories but other things he's been up to
[unknown speaker 00:01:13] we have a few things to talk about but i want to start off by saying congratulations to the new ama president greg stone i don't know if you guys had caught any of that he so we reached out to all three candidates to see if we could have them on and of the three we were ghosted by one one of them said that they were interested and would like to do it but never got back to me with a time to record and the one came on the show and he ended up winning so i'd like to i'd like to
[unknown speaker 00:01:47] think there's a correlation there probably isn't but i will i will take credit for that especially because there was a a margin of 45 votes between the first and second height finisher so i think a little over 7 000 total votes between the three and within 45 within 45 votes i think we tipped the scales i think so did you guys vote yeah sure did did you no shame shame shame so they
[unknown speaker 00:02:18] send you like 16 envelopes yeah i'm gonna be honest this is the first anything really you are a member of the ama correct okay and remember eat the microphone when you're talking yeah i mean i
[00:02:29] Dave: think i got some emails but i never got anything in the mail oh they sent actual ballots out i don't
[unknown speaker 00:02:33] remember when it was but well maybe i'll get a while back get it now yeah they'll show up in february yeah so i'll be honest this was the first time i ever voted and i think we know why i voted for who i voted for yeah you think we know too well i mean honestly if only one guy when when you're an rc airplane podcast and there's only one guy that thinks it's worthwhile to come on and kind of talk about what he's his plans are and what he wants to do for the hobby being ghosted doesn't bode well
[unknown speaker 00:03:07] no no for being accessible i agree and that was kind of my thought like if something happens and you need to get an answer or something i didn't find that to be too promising i mean tell me no tell me to pound sand whatever but tell me something yeah just don't anyway crickets exactly so congratulations greg is our new president i have no clue when that starts i don't know what the whole swearing in ceremony is or if there's a big like ball or all that stuff or or what but here's your key to the washroom there you go pretty much that's probably all it is but anyway so i think i'm not going to
[unknown speaker 00:03:42] say what i think because that might be completely talking out of my butt i don't know how long they serve or what that is is it three years i have three years in my head but not a clue anyway we should have done some research or i should have first but that's how we do it we don't you get it as you get it so who's next dave what have you been up to i have been making a mess out of my workshop
[unknown speaker 00:04:12] does that mean you're doing something or just making a mess both well good so i've got fish tank
[unknown speaker 00:04:18] stuff going in there yeah nothing major there just moving some livestock around and maintenance
[unknown speaker 00:04:28] so i've been working on the 13th squadron 109 oh yeah foam board kit how's that going that's all framed up and it i've brushed a layer of primer on it i had a issue with it i sprayed it with some rust-oleum primer and all the paper peeled off oh so yeah that that was fun so all the the paper's been pulled off of it and i've just brushed on some kills white primer
[unknown speaker 00:04:59] just to give it paint something to stick to so what's that going to do for a structure anything i have no idea it's bound to be less sturdy yeah but it's not exactly a high performance aircraft so i don't really think it's going to matter really don't know we'll find out that'll be probably a spring thing then yeah i'll get it done here probably over christmas well but for maidens for maiden yeah yeah it'll be unless we get a nice warm january day spring thaw anything's possible we
[unknown speaker 00:05:34] don't know but yeah just getting a couple layers of white primer on it and then get the airbrush out and the acrylic paints and we'll we'll get it dressed up a little bit so that's well on its way and then while the paint's drying i need something to do so i pulled down my wonder that i had a little boo-boo with last spring is that the one that kept biting you yeah it bites yeah yeah yeah you need to feed it occasionally it likes to bite the little 15 or whatever you have on it yeah i feel stupid using a starter on it but it likes to bite safety first i don't i think
[unknown speaker 00:06:10] it just hurts it's never drawn blood per se but it it's smarts yeah so anyway got it up going i was using it for the first time with the new radio this spring and was just having an absolute blast flying it because the wonder is just a total treat to fly and just stayed up too long i keep forgetting it's got a two ounce fuel tank in it so even the 15 will drain through two ounces of fuel pretty darn quick and i got myself in a bad position when it died so i ended up landing
[unknown speaker 00:06:40] fast downwind way down the field from us it must have caught weed sticking up or something if it spun it around then flipped it over and it it cracked the horizontal tail not bad enough to really say it's broken but bad enough that it needed fixed so with that one do you fly it till it dies
[unknown speaker 00:07:01] or do you usually land before it's i shut it off i try to come around with enough fuel and then shut
[unknown speaker 00:07:06] it off after i know i've made the field and everything looks good okay it is a little 15 glow engine i have landed it with it idling and it's fine it doesn't really i use a master air screw prop on it so it's it hasn't ever hurt it it gives a little yeah i but i just don't like doing that so i always make sure it's off yeah but as ed need recovered for several years it was getting pretty pretty shabby i don't know sometimes old ultra coat like the color layer separates from the clear yeah and was
[unknown speaker 00:07:40] getting a lot of that it was just looking tacky so now's as good as time as any to strip it down and start fresh and then i've taken in a couple rc cars to get fixed for people trying to generate a little cash flow for airplane parts so nice that's pretty much what i've been up to
[unknown speaker 00:08:02] huh the rc car thing reminds me i saw on facebook toledo is not going to be doing the rc racing this year that's sad but understandable i had fun the timing was just bad i think
[unknown speaker 00:08:16] yeah it definitely took away from the swap meet side of things there was a lot that uh
[unknown speaker 00:08:21] ah that's sorry that's my reminder for piper to get ready for bed since this is a school night you'll hear it again in a half hour it'll say it's actually time for bed anyway but you're keeping people down here well you don't know what am i getting into it's what you're not getting out of it it's more like it yeah but anyway timing on that was just it it it took away from when we needed to be at the table right to to do that and always having to swap somebody out
[unknown speaker 00:08:54] somebody was always missing out because they had to be at the table yeah but it was fun yeah it would
[unknown speaker 00:09:00] have been nice to be a separate event in downtime but whatever i sorry that just reminded me of that
[unknown speaker 00:09:06] anyway that's where we're at with yeah a little car a little car action big big monster trucks what do you got or what are they there's a clodbuster a juggernaut and some sort of ancient traxis
[unknown speaker 00:09:18] thing a little buggy so that is all before my time yeah i've heard of the clodbuster but that's
[unknown speaker 00:09:26] other than that that's the extent it's it's very old school monster truck stuff very stiff suspension
[unknown speaker 00:09:32] basically no suspension in it kind of like the original actual monster truck yeah well they wouldn't do anything except just stiff yeah i got one of them running last night so by running so i assume nitro electric oh everything's electric so what i mean it's a brushed motor so what one
[unknown speaker 00:09:55] of them he had a brand new radio system so i had to set up the four-wheel steer and a brand new in the fly sky radio i've never used a fly sky it's not a four-wheel steering four-wheel steer i
[00:10:06] Dave: didn't know that that's cool yeah i got a little little rock crawl crawler truck it's four-wheel
[unknown speaker 00:10:12] steer nice yeah i've got it let's be sure to speak up and talk into this much closer well okay maybe
[unknown speaker 00:10:18] not closer than louder okay like you're yelling at me the little fly sky radio is not a bad feeling a little radio i still prefer my spectrum radio that i've got to it but it's a it's not a bad little radio yeah pretty easy to program the instructions came with it were completely useless so it was pretty much just push buttons until i made it do what i wanted it to do yeah and then the clodbuster it's got a steering issue i think it just needs some steering work but uh
[unknown speaker 00:10:50] i don't have a battery for it right now so i have to i got some parts on the way and well if it's
[unknown speaker 00:10:56] i mean assuming it's a new enough servo you can always just use a servo tester to
[unknown speaker 00:11:03] yeah i also need to check other setup on it so it's kind of a package deal i just want to go through it make it right for the guys yeah i get it cool oh good something different yeah a little cash flow reggie keeps threatening to bring me a wing to recover that never shows up so
[unknown speaker 00:11:21] oh reggie he could keep you busy all winter it was supposed to have been at my house sunday
[unknown speaker 00:11:26] morning at some point or saturday afternoon but it never showed up no what i don't believe that i believe that yeah it's very blue it'll show up eventually maybe probably in the worst possible time i don't have time for it hey i know you got 85 things on your desk but here's another one oh and i ordered a new airplane too you what what did you order i ordered a dancing wing
[unknown speaker 00:11:53] is it dancing wing dancing wing hobby yeah is that what you guys got no who's the
[unknown speaker 00:11:59] the eagles from dancing wing and the cardinals were from dancing wing okay i knew you guys had
[unknown speaker 00:12:04] got something from there but i couldn't remember which ones it was this is the little yak 55
[unknown speaker 00:12:07] grayson hobby had it on sale and they had one of their weird coupons 5.55 percent off i don't know where they come up with their percentages but there's always an oddball
[unknown speaker 00:12:18] they got you to buy it though didn't it and it's making you talk about it yeah it is so there you
[00:12:22] Dave: go they won they did what they wanted to do and now they have brain space taken up yeah yeah so
[unknown speaker 00:12:28] 3d type airplanes are not my thing but i'd like to have something lightweight and cheap to knock
[unknown speaker 00:12:33] around so so i'm assuming this is the profile 3d thing or fat profile yeah it's got a real
[unknown speaker 00:12:40] thick fuselage i wouldn't say it's just a flat plate but it's like a i don't know i haven't got it yet but it looks like it's about an inch and change thick oh so it's just like several pieces of foam together yeah okay i gotcha it looks nice it's some people say it flies awful because it's heavy well i don't care yeah i really don't care i'm not a 3d pilot right neither am i no probably never will be although i'd like to be and the price was right complete package came with two props
[unknown speaker 00:13:10] you know nice what the heck and it was 5.55 percent off you can't you can't pass that up can you speaking of grace and hobby i thought i heard something about closing up shop yes i've gotten a
[unknown speaker 00:13:28] couple emails from them recently they are closing their showroom actually i think it is closed by the time this goes live okay so they are closing their showroom or whatever the hobby shop physical hobby shop is closing then just to concentrate on online sales so i mean that i hate to say it but
[unknown speaker 00:13:50] that kind of makes sense that's where everything is now right you have such a farther reach and where
[unknown speaker 00:13:56] are they located anyway they are loganville georgia which from my understanding is a suburb of the atlanta oh okay i've bought several things from them over the years really nice folks good prices service is great kind of you've never been there have you because i've never been to georgia no really actually i've driven through georgia but i've never never had a reason to stop in georgia other than to go to the restroom something behind in georgia yes i'd left a deposit
[unknown speaker 00:14:27] but they've been really nice anytime i've worked with them good stuff good prices kind of sad to see that their showroom is closed but hopefully they'll be able to segue this into a more productive online presence yeah i i would i would think you won't see any downsides to that
[unknown speaker 00:14:45] because that will give them more time to focus on they'll concentrate more what everybody else can see
[unknown speaker 00:14:49] be more of a local yeah yeah so anyway grayson hobby loganville georgia but doesn't matter because
[unknown speaker 00:14:59] you can't go there anymore nope so what else so we've had a couple swap meets i've been to one
[unknown speaker 00:15:05] daniel's been to two two yep dave's been to one i've been teaching class but i was able to finagle
[unknown speaker 00:15:12] away into last weekend and then we also have just a couple of them coming up that's it seems like there was more last year but i know and maybe that's because i missed i missed the columbia one i usually go to that one but we were busy with stuff yeah that was a good one too there was we'll talk yeah wasn't it when's the belleville one that was around the same time see because i looked
[00:15:39] Dave: it up in the next the next one's up in beloit the first i think it's the first weekend january
[unknown speaker 00:15:47] january i assume we're hitting that one again too i'm sure i love getting up at three in the
[00:15:52] Dave: morning to go to beloit wisconsin yeah it's i mean it's kind of become it's kind of a good one though
[unknown speaker 00:15:56] i mean it's growing yeah and it's kind of become a tradition like we've done the last two years so why not make a three-peat might as well yeah i'm all for it cool i got nothing else in january
[00:16:08] Dave: stop by brian's on the way back and spin what you didn't spend up there oh this is where we got
[unknown speaker 00:16:13] stuck with the two trip stick yes for those of you who don't know it took two trips 100 miles away to pick this airplane up because we couldn't get it all fit in the truck because daniel may have
[00:16:24] Dave: had that other problem a couple weekends ago too so somebody got too short on a short bed truck you should just take your trailer with you everywhere i any more i thought about i well i asked david friday night i said are we taking it to decatur and he said no i don't think we need it so and we did and we didn't yeah but yeah yeah i didn't even see your car when i was there i think
[unknown speaker 00:16:51] i was there before you had the tundra you probably weren't looking for it yeah his truck we took his
[00:16:55] Dave: truck oh because it's got a longer bed parked next to reggie so well when i when i pulled in i was
[unknown speaker 00:17:01] looking for trailers to see who was there and i didn't see yours so no and i just took the car because i knew i wasn't coming home with anything big because there is no room it's a self-limiting plan yeah then i knew you guys were going to be there too just just in case one way i look at it
[00:17:18] Dave: but it's close enough let me run home grab the trailer and come back right you know or yeah yeah
[unknown speaker 00:17:23] for me it was a like 28 minute drive or something so it's nothing but anyway so it also kept me from bringing anything big back too yeah well let's start with columbia though before we get to decatur because we'll go in chronological order because if not then i always get confused
[00:17:39] Dave: tell me about columbia how was it columbia was good this year was it there was quite a few people there would you say bigger smaller or the same as no i'd say bigger bigger okay and there was a lot of things going in and out so and i'm trying to think columbia because i get yeah you sent me a lot
[unknown speaker 00:17:56] of pictures i always i always forget where these are because there's also one in granite city down there
[unknown speaker 00:18:01] too there's columbia missouri and columbia illinois and they're not that far well but what this is just off of 255 it's like what kind of building it was is it the vfw hall it may have been a
[unknown speaker 00:18:16] vfw hall is that the one we went to last year where they had closed it off more no okay no i thought
[00:18:27] Dave: that was two i don't know which one that was that might have been granite city maybe so this was i think this was like a vfw hall okay i believe so yeah but no it was it was full and there was a lot of things going in and out and some stuff that i didn't get you know i saw when i went in and i'll make a minute i'll make a round and come back and it was never do that never do that if there's something you want you get it then i watched a guy walk in with something because i was you know
[00:18:59] Dave: i got there a little early so i was sitting there and i was there was a guy in the trailer next to me and he was unloading he came out with one of the oh the paraglider paraglider oh like david like david has so i saw him unload that i was like okay well i'm gonna look look for it when i go in should have asked him then i probably should have because i literally went in five minutes later went to stable and it wasn't there so either he was bringing it in for somebody or he sold it as he was walking in with it so because it was nowhere to be found hmm probably a good deal then that you
[unknown speaker 00:19:33] missed oh yeah next time speak up those are fun little birds too well that's what i thought if i
[unknown speaker 00:19:38] get it priced right i'll try it i mean it's once you get the launch down they're fun yeah man reggie's nailed that it's just a lot of strings though that's i'm worried about getting tangled you cannot tangle them they're all anchored so it other than spinning and twisting you cannot tangle that's the only thing that worries me it's like i'll end up getting you know it's like don't say cannot i mean
[00:19:59] Dave: that's challenge accepted i bet i could yeah well look i'm not very good with bait casters either that turns out to be a big you know i'm assuming that's fishing that's all yeah i'm sorry i don't fishing yeah it's i was you know a tangled up mess by the time i get done with them so but yeah so very a lot of a lot of people i mean the parking lot was full and i got there at
[00:20:26] Dave: probably what was it eight eight thirty eight forty five and then parking lot was full and it opened technically at nine nice i think maybe it was eight i got there something whatever but yeah i got there i got there like 15 minutes before it was open and the parking lot was full yeah a lot
[unknown speaker 00:20:41] of times they have people showing up like an hour early for setup yeah and that's that's when it's a good time to be there maybe i should have went out okay it didn't matter because i came home with a truckload anyhow so it's well before we get to what you got then anything else that you missed
[00:20:59] Dave: like you had the paramotor that you wanted yeah there was a cub with i don't know he had a four stroke on i'm not sure because i didn't make it back in time they came with two wings guy won 100 bucks for it i mean it wasn't it was a sharp looking wasn't bad i mean so i thought okay well i'll do a loop and i come back and i think well i'm gonna you and your loops i know stop it well i have to check everything out i mean you don't want to spend all your money in one spot
[unknown speaker 00:21:25] and then you see well obviously you could have sold it again you could just walk up and be like you know what i'll take a table now yeah exactly let me put all these planes i just bought on it
[00:21:33] Dave: but yeah so but i walked around and i was getting ready to talk to the guy and there was a guy there buying it so that one went out the window so that's fine i left the money for other things
[unknown speaker 00:21:43] true so that was the only other one that you yeah that you're up yeah no that was the only other one
[00:21:50] Dave: i really saw that i was going to talk about getting and didn't okay then let's go back to what did you
[unknown speaker 00:21:58] get so i got so memorable he can't remember i'm trying to think which one so are we going in
[00:22:07] Dave: order we go are we going in order let's go in order the ones i got first so first one i got which you know david wasn't there so you know i'm sending pictures back and forth trying to figure out if this is a good deal i'm in the shower to get ready to go to class and i'm i'm and you can't get signal in the building so i had to walk out every time sitting in pictures
[unknown speaker 00:22:26] yeah that's i keep popping out dripping all over the floor going well i hope my phone's waterproof
[00:22:31] Dave: so the first one i found it was the same guy that brought the paramotor in but he had a stents and i don't know what size it's a it's it's 100 inch yeah it's wow it's a good size stents i've got the smaller version i've got the the small what i don't know what brand it is the red one
[unknown speaker 00:22:51] that we got from brian oh that is a um
[00:22:56] Dave: yeah just a second anyhow i've got the smaller one you know nitro motor this is like i say about twice if not third three times the size it's it's close to almost the cub size but not as long not quite yeah yeah that's so fabric covered i mean everything except the motor it doesn't have the motor it's got servos it got had a seven channel spectrum receiver in it oh nice pretty much just stick a motor on it and i think we're good to go yeah it's got you know
[00:23:29] Dave: a little thing of rash yeah it's a little it's an older it's an older plane but i mean it's it's nice looking i mean there's no physical it's perfectly serviceable yeah so that's that's like right up your alley i don't like them i mean the only one stagger i'd like to have another stagger wing yeah so i've never had one and that's probably one of the only i had the fns yeah stagger wing and it finally well i couldn't get parts for it that's what ended that one yeah so he got gutted but yeah so i got that that was the first one that went to the truck
[00:24:04] Dave: which no problems with the wings on that because you know two-piece wing they're short to begin with so yeah everything went in so then i went back in found you a motor yep we got an os surpass 48
[unknown speaker 00:24:19] for a ridiculously low price so and it shows very little use so then so i got that nitro stuff is
[unknown speaker 00:24:29] not as popular as it used to be so i can't believe a 48 four stroke and he i would walk by i wouldn't
[00:24:34] Dave: even look at he said here make me an offer on it i said i wouldn't even know what to offer you on it and he said 40 bucks and i said well let me let me text somebody i know i offered him 30 i know a guy 35 so yeah i know a guy i know a guy let me give you 20 yeah well i tried 13 that didn't go
[unknown speaker 00:24:52] well now that was works out really well 35 for this engine is a steal i almost feel bad about it but what are you putting it on don't know i don't have anything for it but oh for how it begins
[unknown speaker 00:25:04] for 35 i can't pass up a four stroke yeah they do sound good yeah and like i said this one's
[unknown speaker 00:25:10] nearly new i pulled the plug plug's got a little carbon on it there's no goo on the exhaust whatsoever looking into the cylinder the top of the cylinder head has no carbon whatsoever so it's it's been ran
[00:25:23] Dave: but not not much yeah nice so yeah so then the next one well i was headed to look at this one when the guys told me about the motor was i ended up getting a cub another smaller another cub another
[unknown speaker 00:25:39] cub once again a ridiculously cheap price yeah very very cheap price for what it was yeah i mean it's it's rough but it it's flyable pretty much got it for the motor 80 size four stroke so oh wow so
[00:25:53] Dave: so that's wingspan on that then probably well that's what got me in trouble it wouldn't fit in the bed of my truck the wing wouldn't it's a one piece wing so bigger so that's a five and a half foot
[unknown speaker 00:26:04] bed i was gonna say i was thinking like 60 inch wingspan so obviously we're bigger than that
[00:26:08] Dave: yeah because it yeah it was going to stick out the back but since nobody wanted to go with me i had plenty of room the guy goes well just lay your seat back so i was able with the extended cab i was able to lean the seat back and slide it in so it rode in the passenger seat on the way home if not
[unknown speaker 00:26:26] it would have been sticking out of the back of the truck it's not that nobody wanted to go with me by the way i had things i had well well it just wasn't you it was other people i asked too and they didn't go
[00:26:36] Dave: so i'm looking at your brother no i knew he couldn't go no it was friends of mine
[unknown speaker 00:26:42] no one of them was going down gambling i get it yeah so i asked my actual friends they said no
[00:26:48] Dave: and i texted you no i was just trying to feel a seat but so yeah that that was the wing issue yeah i i said i can't believe this and the guy's standing there watching me i was like don't watch just go away i'm thinking well break the tips off it's fine it was an easy repair so so i did get that the motor had a little couple little issue it didn't have any compression
[00:27:14] Dave: we took it apart and the valves were stuck yeah the lifter was stuck in the bore so a little bit of just working it took the rods out and sprayed wd-40 down i got so i got them going i still didn't have compression when i put everything back together just had to adjust the lifters on it so the valves were being held open a little bit they were out of whack yeah a little too much so i got compression now and we're should be good yeah it seems like it should run yeah it's got good
[unknown speaker 00:27:42] compressions bearings are good good compression let's see it would be fun if it wasn't nitro
[00:27:47] Dave: i know it's i get it but until they start making smaller gas
[unknown speaker 00:27:56] that's the problem so well and for the same price i mean that's the thing too you know like that
[00:28:00] Dave: robin hood i got that that's the one i got in toledo you can't it's either electric or nitro i mean yeah they don't make a 30 size four stroke you put in that though that was a little unicorn to find
[unknown speaker 00:28:11] anyway i can't believe we actually found that for the price we found it for yeah
[00:28:16] Dave: but it flies really good yeah it flies real good in the motor i mean it's not a finicky motor it i mean it it just works it just goes i mean we'll hardly flip it and off it goes i think it's an asp yeah so i think it's that's the only reason i mean nitro is just so finicky sometimes that's the thing i don't like dealing with i'm not good i'm not good with it i mean it's you know gas is just so much reliable i mean it's yeah and i tinker with that so it's so i got that and then i think the last
[00:28:48] Dave: thing i got was you know of course i still had money in my pocket everybody was calling stuff out so guy in the back row he had a bunch of older planes there some of them weren't in the best shape he had got them from a friend of his that passed away so he was selling them and you know for the guy's wife so i got a top flight elder kit it was already built but it came but it came with the box the plans row a couple couple rolls of covering and it's not it more than
[00:29:24] Dave: anything it needs the covering needs shrink i mean it's that that would help it a lot but it's got it's kind of gross looking yeah it's got the wire it's got the nice wire wheels so he they have the foam metal wire wheels yeah that's but again those can be pricey it was dirt cheap 20 bucks 20 bucks oh my god with the motor with without without a motor without a motor yeah without he's got servos and he's got an ancient old what 72 megahertz receiver had the antenna hanging down the back of it
[unknown speaker 00:29:57] yeah but that out i'm sure we we found a on the shipping label we found a date 1984 1984 i was three
[00:30:09] Dave: yeah so that's how old this is and i mean it's not bad shape at all i mean like say the covering i'm worried about if i try to shrink through covering if it's going to just disintegrate yeah if it is brittle side if it is then i'm just going to strip it i mean it might be time yeah and just
[unknown speaker 00:30:26] redo it so but yeah that pretty much filled the truck up on the way back home nice well no you had one
[00:30:32] Dave: more oh yes yes so many you forget yeah well this one's not mine i brought one back for tommy that somebody gave us or gave him a a biplane that needs some help so it's in multiple pieces but a few more pieces than it's supposed to be yeah but it all the pieces are there so he'll be able to put it back together so the guy you want to know if you wanted it and i i said ron doesn't like anything one wing yeah david didn't want it because he too many projects he goes what about tommy i said tommy
[00:31:08] Dave: likes biplanes tommy's not here to say no and yeah well and i kind of see why he was pressing so much to get rid of it because he had bought a plane and he was having the same problem i had he was trying to get everything in the bed of his truck and the biplane was in the way so okay yeah so that's that's sitting in my trailer until tommy comes back so so what is it i i don't know i didn't really look at it that close it might be a super spuster pipe i'm not yeah i don't know oh cool
[unknown speaker 00:31:38] that's interesting yeah i didn't really look at that close i did i just saw the busted it's heavy
[00:31:44] Dave: whatever it is i mean it's the fuselage is well built and very very stout and heavy well the wing that's that's the issue he he dumb thumbed it in the ground and he said got the top wing which broke i think it was like the first two or three ribs off but he's got all i mean everything's there he's got the ribs that's so you can put everything back so rip the landing gear off landing gears there i mean it's doable i mean it's very easy easy fix so how did that so was that something he
[unknown speaker 00:32:18] brought to sell them yeah yeah okay yeah and then he bought too much to take it was the same guy i
[00:32:23] Dave: bought the cub from so as we were hauling the cub out and he goes and then he figured out who we were
[unknown speaker 00:32:28] or who i was and you guys you know yeah tell me how hey i realized what who you were yeah oh yeah
[00:32:37] Dave: so so we're walking out and you know he's we were talking anyhow he found out you know rc plane lab and he's oh yeah you know i know you guys and you know i've talked to tom whatever anyhow and he says oh so he he goes you must be the brother that's got the loud stick i said yes that would be me i said that yeah i said yes so i am known as yeah the one with the loud stick i guess that's why i call him but sticks sticks yeah multiple sticks yeah oh that's funny yeah so anyhow he was
[00:33:11] Dave: he had it on the table wanting to sell it and it was dirt cheap and then he finally said here just take it and then basically it was yeah he was trying to load a big plane in the bed of his truck and
[unknown speaker 00:33:20] nice trying to figure out how to get the wing in yeah i i know the feelings so that's awesome so you did at least have enough room for for an extra one then oh yeah yeah i mean it was in pieces so yeah already a few more pieces right actually the truth be told it was probably not even broken at all but the only way he could get it to fit was rip the landing gear off and break off a couple ribs
[unknown speaker 00:33:42] so yeah i'll have to look at it again i don't know i didn't really look at it long enough to figure out what it is it might even be like a ace 440 biop or something like that i don't know what it is i'll have to look at it so at least tell me you know what he's getting into when he gets back
[00:33:55] Dave: so yeah it'll be in my trailer waiting for him so for a few more months a few more months or i can bring in here i guess take it to texas just leave it you're fine well the trailer is going to go be put away this weekend anyhow so when the snow is coming so i did that tonight you know how sad is
[unknown speaker 00:34:15] that i got a mustang to shove in the garage i got it i got a few planes get out of there to get in
[00:34:20] Dave: the basement and it's going down the storage unit for the winter along with my boat i went the opposite way i took a few planes from the basement into i just trailer to store i didn't know how the cold would be on and that's the reason i i pull you know now the biplane will stay out there i mean obviously it's not going to cause problems but you're right my sticks and stuff i went out of there because you know i just don't want them out in the cold i typically will pull any lipo batteries
[unknown speaker 00:34:43] out everything else i just leave in the garage unheated and i mean it'll be okay and it's been
[unknown speaker 00:34:48] fine i've been doing that for 40 years now so yeah i mean well you do what you have to do
[00:34:56] Dave: honestly oil your engine's up good and the other issue is it's not being at my house it's down in a storage unit even though the storage unit is it's fenced in you got to have a code to get in but i mean there's probably you know 40 other stalls you know so there's other people not that you can't go in the we've not had a problem since they put the fence up but still i it'd be my luck i leave the stuff in there and i go down there and padlocks cut and doors open and but they still gas
[00:35:27] Dave: out of your boat or something yeah right after i put my boat down there you know it's never good when you get a call from landlord at 10 o'clock at night saying you need to go down and check your boat he said we caught somebody stealing fuel and they they did they siphoned 30 gallons out of my boat i just had filled it up oh my god yeah they took it they took it all it was on the chain yeah yeah but they had they caught him yeah i mean but then he he put the fence up the week after that but we haven't had as far as i know problems since but i don't want to take that chance yeah no i get it
[00:35:57] Dave: you know if it was sitting at my house it'd be one thing where i can keep an eye on it right mine's at
[unknown speaker 00:36:01] my house so it's i don't mind doing it as much plus there's only two planes in it i just threw the 12-foot telemaster because that's hard to store that's pretty big let's be honest and then the the flex extra 300 or whatever that was that i got you still haven't flown i haven't flown that yet no it's ready i have not flown for a long time and i honestly with weather and stuff i think i'm done flying for the year unfortunately but new year's day come on yes that's next year though so i'm done
[unknown speaker 00:36:34] flying for the year but yeah so we're supposed to be getting a bunch possibly of snow this weekend so i hope not i i'm ready like i'm gonna be honest wait we have had something every weekend for i don't know how long this is the first weekend where i really don't have anything i have to do and if it snows out i can't do anything outside so i won't be tempted to go do stupid things i should be doing but don't have to do yet you know what i mean yeah but so that will force me inside to do
[00:37:05] Dave: something yeah i i'm the opposite because when it snows and i get forced to go outside because i have it'd be different if i didn't have to go out and deal with it but i get cold you get paid to do it well i get yeah right but it's still though it's it's not you know having to get up going go into work start shoveling and then hear everybody complain about you know it's not cleared right or you know it's just once i retire i don't think i care about snow well right but but right now i'm only thinking of myself i know so you know in that regard i'll think about you working on your
[unknown speaker 00:37:39] planes when i'm out shoveling snow and freezing well but remember anytime you've had to work on your planes it's been the opposite to where i've been doing something yeah so yeah there we go turn about the fair play okay right i just hate snow well i hate cold i hear this is going to be a cold
[unknown speaker 00:37:59] snowy winter snow is always money for me when i was doing the drug testing thing because
[unknown speaker 00:38:04] a lot of people would have issues and the worse the weather the most likely more likely it was i
[unknown speaker 00:38:09] was going to be out on the road it was me snow plows and troopers that was pretty much it for quite a few years yeah but always big money you know detrimental for road conditions 100 surcharge so a hundred dollars before i ever even left the driveway nice that was always nice
[unknown speaker 00:38:29] oh see i told you half hour i would tell her it's time for bed but she didn't have school tomorrow because they're starting their thanksgiving break happy thanksgiving everybody by the way it just hit me oh yeah this will be out afterward oh yes i hope thanksgiving i hope you enjoyed your thanksgiving everything we were a couple days earlier so let's move on to the next swap meet we had decatur
[00:38:54] Dave: decatur yeah that wasn't that one wasn't nearly as good yeah but i still found something so
[unknown speaker 00:39:04] i like your something we'll talk about that in a minute so would you guys agree with the fact that it is
[00:39:12] Dave: not been as good the last couple years it has been going this is my third year going the first year was real good first year amazing yeah last year a little bit smaller this year a lot smaller yeah i mean it was kind of disappointing i mean it's and i wonder because i mean things come
[unknown speaker 00:39:32] and go it's cyclical i wonder if something else was going on that weekend or next year it might be wonderful again i know and that's the thing that's a hit you never know yeah and yeah and that's why
[unknown speaker 00:39:42] you have to go by the way to everyone you can go to decatur is it's so close it's only 40 miles for us
[unknown speaker 00:39:48] it's not not detrimental if no yeah it's a it's a morning trip you can do and be back by noon well i i get it and got to class by 11 30 so oh that's even better there you go so yeah but you never know so it's yeah well that's where i got my my first f-18 edf the e-flight one for a hundred bucks yeah i mean that was a great deal but i mean they had a few planes there that were interesting enough but i just i didn't see a lot walking out yeah i wasn't in the buying mood though
[unknown speaker 00:40:23] there's some stuff there that i was kind of interested in but nothing not interested enough to
[00:40:28] Dave: pry open the wallet yeah i almost came back with that one that nobody knew what what it was
[unknown speaker 00:40:33] i figured i thought i really thought i was going to come back with that was hard yeah we know the guy so if you still want if he didn't get rid of it yet we can i'm sure he still has it yeah well but he might have just chucked it it was a giant pile of wood it was different though nobody's gonna have one like it nobody would ever have one and it was all there and that is right up for the most part i
[00:40:55] Dave: mean it was bare bones though yeah it was bare bones but it was a good shell yeah no clue what
[unknown speaker 00:41:01] it was though it almost yeah under cambered wings some really odd construction techniques yeah i almost
[unknown speaker 00:41:08] think that like the the rudder and stuff on it was customized yeah it's hard to say i have no idea what
[unknown speaker 00:41:15] it was yeah anybody measure wingspan no i'm guessing it's somewhere around 80 to 100 inches it was pretty
[unknown speaker 00:41:22] good size it was bigger than 80 because i think i mean the each wing half was more than four feet yeah so it was it was up there it was a good size airplane although you notice how the wings split that was weird too no i didn't pay too much attention so you you have your i don't know my terminology so you have the main center section right that usually sometimes stays on biplanes whatever that's called where the cabanes kind of attach and stuff so on a lot of them that i've seen before you have that that stays with the airplane and then wing halves so this was a two panel wing but one wing
[unknown speaker 00:41:56] was built into that center section so the center section was whole and then it included like i said completely connected and built into the the one wing the you know the wing half and then the other one connected to the other half came off but it there was no like you could tell whatever structures were needed for flying like flying wires or whatever struts or supports were on it would be absolutely necessary because there was there was there's no structure well dowel rods were there for alignment
[00:42:26] Dave: yeah like there was no wing tube or anything right there's no carbon carbon tube or aluminum or even
[unknown speaker 00:42:32] yeah dowel rods that are an inch yeah it was literally a line aligning tool yeah like little quarter
[00:42:37] Dave: inch dowels just to make sure it was installed correctly it would have been different nobody would have
[unknown speaker 00:42:43] i know another one but well i mean we can try and make contact i got enough no that's what my wife
[00:42:51] Dave: keeps saying to you every time she goes you know you've taken up three rooms now oh yeah because she walked in the basement saw him sitting on the floor so she goes you got your room upstairs she goes you got the room in the basement you got a trailer and you've got him in the garage i go yeah the third
[unknown speaker 00:43:07] scale cub takes up a room all to itself exactly yeah i mean it has its own bed and everything
[00:43:11] Dave: it is it is covered up so it does actually have a blanket over top of it right now so it's weird that you sleep with it though
[unknown speaker 00:43:21] keep me warm wing
[00:43:26] Dave: it'll fly one it's it's getting close that'll be next year thing right yeah yeah it flew fine when we flew it previously but it's been totally repainted and i mean it's new cowl i mean it's yeah since we know it flew i'm actually putting money into it and fixing what needs to be fixed so buying a muffler or gonna well that one wasn't that loud was it yeah it was
[unknown speaker 00:43:50] that one that's the green the one that was green yeah yeah no that was loud
[unknown speaker 00:43:54] that was i don't think this is as annoying as the red stick it's not as high-pitched
[unknown speaker 00:44:00] cackley as the red but it still had a good pop to it but it's yeah yeah it's got the same muffler on it you mean straight pipe pretty much there is no muffle to it so okay so i've saved lives i i guess whatever so decatur then you did buy something yes what
[00:44:21] Dave: do you buy once again different wasn't a plane so i i so i was fine taking it home she said no more planes this was a airboat so you know the airboat now honestly it's a cool looking airboat it looks
[unknown speaker 00:44:36] like it was probably made in 1906 yes no it's it's an old design it's been around a while it was
[unknown speaker 00:44:44] probably all i i think it was the dumas the big dumas one all wood no plastic i mean it's all
[00:44:50] Dave: plywood it's it's definitely seen a lot of a lot of years so it's it's designed to have what i'm assuming by the mounts a nitro motor on it yeah is in fact the fuel tank was still there with it the motor was only missing servos are there we see another 72 megahertz receiver sitting in it oh that dates you a little bit yeah what were the servos i don't know i haven't opened it up but he i mean he were they like tan i don't know they're they're still covered i haven't got that far yet
[unknown speaker 00:45:22] the hardware was a little interesting it was a little overkill it was like a three-eighths inch bolt
[00:45:27] Dave: yeah i don't know what to do what hold the receiver hatch on yeah oh oh yeah yeah and that's well you don't have to worry about weight i mean you're not trying to fly exactly in the the the hatch cover's been cut out of like quarter inch plywood so it's yeah that's that's not airplane ply by no no no no it's so that that's that's gonna that's gonna change there's a few things changing on the rudders are changing i already got the new rudders cut what'd you make them out of by the way because those rudders they just just balls the same same thickness balls i think they were
[unknown speaker 00:45:58] light ply previously and they were pretty cracked and yeah so it's yeah they had like blocks on each
[unknown speaker 00:46:05] side holding stuff together yeah i went around the block a few times yeah i don't know why all i thought
[00:46:11] Dave: it was broke but when i took the blocks off i i don't know why they were on there oh really so it wasn't no it wasn't cracked i oh so i don't know why they were on there that is weird hopefully i
[unknown speaker 00:46:22] don't we'll find out yeah there's a reason why they're on there maybe they were when they get wet or something they were starting to bow maybe i don't know i just made that up but it could be
[00:46:32] Dave: well being painted though you think it'd be sealed so you wouldn't get the
[00:46:38] Dave: i don't know new i've already made a new set so they're they're sitting there cut it out on a laser cutter so it took me literally no time at all to to cut them you should think about doing that out of plastic i thought about my 3d printer but oh there that's another that i've had issues with it so i've been fighting that's a whole different i've been fighting that the last week i'm ready for a new one i'm probably for your first year i'm getting oh so after
[unknown speaker 00:47:05] the deals are gone well money money thing no i get it i'm in the same way or if i yeah so i'm
[00:47:14] Dave: waiting for a certain rebate or refund check to come in if i get that before christmas then that will happen but nice because i'll pretty much pay for a new multi-colored see good you can do all
[unknown speaker 00:47:26] the research and let me know what's what's good and what to get because i get i'm so old i'm so out of it i get confused by stuff i give up looking so yeah i mean the one i've got now i just i didn't
[00:47:38] Dave: realize i've had it for five years and it was it was caused me problems and come to find out it was a broken where the filament tensioner yeah it's like a tensioner but it was cracked on the bottom side and never and so that was causing me all sorts of print problems once i did that boom i'm back up and going but i fought it for a week yeah i'm about ready to throw it out the window and
[00:48:03] Dave: they don't blame you yeah but we'll do that going down but yeah i thought maybe i can make some out of that i mean you know design some and then put them out of plastic but right now i just cut it cut it with the laser cutter and probably easiest is the best at this point see how much you
[unknown speaker 00:48:18] like it and then if it's something you really are going to keep going with then spend some time yeah
[00:48:21] Dave: so i'll have to go to the motor we'll have to get a motor so what are you going to do nitro i don't know you know what it's not about putting the edf on it was it oh you could do that it wouldn't last
[unknown speaker 00:48:34] very long or do too much no it'd sound weird i mean that it'd be different well but that looks like what it's supposed to take like a 13 inch propeller or something i mean that hoop seemed pretty big to me
[00:48:46] Dave: maybe not well i don't again the hoop was kind of overkill if you look at it and the bolts that are holding it in i don't know if i'd even it's 40 size i don't know if i is it okay i don't know i may take the hoop off oh the hoop's there to kind of protect stuff from getting hit but you look i kind of looking at them online and none of them majority of them don't have hoops and they just got the nitro motor sitting up on top what yeah really yeah i guess unless you go to the scale looking one now the scale looking ones have the the actual yeah if you look if you look up old you know like wooden
[00:49:20] Dave: airboats majority of them just have nitro motors sitting sitting on top with no no cover around them so i don't know okay but this just looked like they took a big chunk of aluminum and cut
[unknown speaker 00:49:32] it out bent it bent it not bent it nicely just like use their hands exactly and then used big lag bolts
[00:49:39] Dave: to put it into the yeah yeah so that that'll probably change give me some three-quarter inch by an inch
[unknown speaker 00:49:44] and a half strapping and carriage bolts well yeah you got to make it look right but yeah but
[00:49:52] Dave: there's not much to it and it should be up and going but yeah we'll get it up and going for the snow i'll say maybe snow oh see hurry up i've got some electric motors sitting around that we've pulled out of different planes i don't know if those fit i it's a two-hour i haven't messed with it enough to but then i thought well what's water going to do to electric motor on that nothing nothing the
[unknown speaker 00:50:13] motor's fine it's the speed control and stuff i just have to make sure it's sealed well same with
[unknown speaker 00:50:19] airflow issues well and i was going to say same not only speed controller but you got to make sure your receiver is not wet yeah or doesn't get wet so i don't know yeah we'll have to figure out
[00:50:30] Dave: i don't have a motor to fit it anyhow so that'll be make sure you don't put exhaust on it
[unknown speaker 00:50:38] straight pipe underneath so it works as a jet boat straight pipe it so i guess that's the only thing i guess though if you went electric you could a turn it off and b have reverse oh yeah if you don't go electric and you go with nitro and you get it like if you're just standing on the side of the lake and
[00:51:00] Dave: it gets out and it dies well that would be where i would take my boat with me and do it all take
[unknown speaker 00:51:06] it out in the lake and then well i mean i understand yeah i've got a tugboat well that didn't work so
[00:51:12] Dave: well for tommy did it because i got it out in the middle of the pond and it quit so you lost signal though yeah i lost signal so tommy had to rescue two boats or two his plane and my boat so
[unknown speaker 00:51:24] i tried awesome so anything else have you bought anything else have you tell us what daniel did buy
[00:51:35] Dave: something today today well a few hours ago yeah i was at work hard so what would you get i may not be liked after this but helicopter
[unknown speaker 00:51:49] anyway so what else is new why a helicopter no helicopters are cool said no one ever well
[00:51:55] Dave: you've seen the line at joan hall i don't have to worry about standing in line to fly that is true you have the whole place i bought a little goose guy s1 it's just a mini helicopter so i know nothing about that so is that just a like a sport little it's a 3d i mean it's or what do you want to call
[unknown speaker 00:52:18] i guess helicopters are called 3d it's a sport model yeah it's not like a truly 3d 3d not a hardcore 3d
[00:52:26] Dave: but kind of like a 3d trainer and that's exactly what it says the helicopter i do have the one i won or we won over in we still don't know who actually yeah who owns this because i don't know who's making
[unknown speaker 00:52:39] it i mean you call it now whose is it i'm saying it's his i already own there you go daniel's one i
[00:52:45] Dave: i was the one that chose which pot the the ticket went into so i mean oh you won that at toledo that
[unknown speaker 00:52:52] was toledo remember we had the tickets yep that's when i got the sailboat that i put all the way
[00:52:56] Dave: together because i have no clue how to do it so you know i got that helicopter which that one's not but it's gps it's you know it pretty much it's cheating it flies itself it literally you hit a button it comes back and so this one's not like this so we'll see i ordered that plus a lot of parts so that's a good idea i figured shipping would be better you know now instead of here and there for parts on that way cheap too that's really i got the small one
[unknown speaker 00:53:26] i thought well if i crash so how small is small by the way it's like is it like an
[unknown speaker 00:53:30] indoor flyer can you yeah it's i'd be a little scared to fly it indoors but okay so it's not like one of the little six or eight in no it's not like my little blade mcx okay well yeah it's
[00:53:41] Dave: not much bigger than that blade i don't know i was trying to my signal down here i don't get a signal
[unknown speaker 00:53:47] so i can't get yeah let's see if i can figure out you guys talk amongst yourself but yeah so i've been
[00:53:52] Dave: watching and yeah they went on holiday special today so i got pretty much got the helicopter plus a bunch of parts extra battery for what what the helicopter was going to cost anyhow on a normal
[unknown speaker 00:54:06] day so so what battery does it use that'll give me an idea size wise i thought it was like a 300
[00:54:12] Dave: 100 okay so small yeah it's it's it's is this like a 1s 2s i couldn't read the size of the battery so i don't know what to do okay it just says you want to add extra battery i said yeah so how much
[unknown speaker 00:54:25] was the battery because that'll tell ten bucks okay so yeah really small then yeah it's it's a tiny i
[00:54:30] Dave: mean it comes in its own little case 300 milliamp 2s okay so yeah it becomes a little carrying case i
[unknown speaker 00:54:37] mean it's i mean it doesn't say made in blade length it's blank the length is 10.94 inches but we don't know what the blades are yeah so the rotor diameter 30 inches 30 30.6 how is the length 10 but
[unknown speaker 00:54:51] the rotor diameter is 30 tail rotor is 11.41 so what's 10 inches then that makes no sense
[unknown speaker 00:55:03] that's not possible i think they got some bad information here because that just doesn't make is that metric its height is 3.46 inches main rotor 30 tail rotor 11 weight 3.77 ounces
[unknown speaker 00:55:19] i'm super confused that those numbers don't add up they don't because then your main blade is above your it's it's 300 size if that helps anybody doesn't i've heard it all news i've heard a 450 size i've
[00:55:32] Dave: heard of are you sure that let me and i can't i can't pull pulled up go to heli direct i'm pulling up the heli direct one because and then go to goose guy s1 so this may go to toledo too i don't know
[unknown speaker 00:55:53] did you did you get the binding fly or no ready to fly so it comes controller it came with everything
[00:56:01] Dave: controller battery so yeah stepping into a new new realm of things for you and i guess i can't
[unknown speaker 00:56:11] ask you guys to help me either because you guys don't yeah i fly heli but it's been i fly gas okay
[unknown speaker 00:56:16] so looking at next to the controller that they're showing that is not an indoor flying
[00:56:24] Dave: main rotor diameter 200 you got you looked in the s1 right not there's an s2 no here's the s s1
[unknown speaker 00:56:32] helicopter yeah that's it yeah it's a 290 millimeter okay so not what the heck did you get
[unknown speaker 00:56:39] 30 inches yeah i think a main's got some bunk information on their website 11.4 so call it a 12 inch or just for fun so yeah that's that's too big for inside i thought you were like the small
[unknown speaker 00:56:59] blade like mcx or whatever those are yeah that's one i'm not that's one whatever they just re-released
[unknown speaker 00:57:06] oh the mcx is mcx yeah i actually just broke mine a couple days ago i had to order spare parts
[00:57:12] Dave: the reason i got this is because the parts are dirt cheap that's that's what leaned me into that one yes i mean the blades are like the main blades are like six or seven bucks yeah i saw i mean so i'm figuring there's a lot of if i crash it boom i can get cheap parts and well hopefully you don't
[unknown speaker 00:57:31] i know but maybe hopefully you do and then you're like ah helicopters ugh let's go back to and i got
[unknown speaker 00:57:37] a little to take it to i guess but no it's i like flying my helicopter from time to time it's
[unknown speaker 00:57:41] gonna be something different so i like scale helicopters but other than that like it just doesn't do much for me for some reason but i like watching other people with scale hop or
[unknown speaker 00:57:51] helicopters it's not anything i want to do i like just watch them fly around but the 3d flip flop back
[unknown speaker 00:57:56] forth it that it scares me it doesn't gonna be honest like it concerns me because like that's moving
[unknown speaker 00:58:02] very fast i'm just i don't move that fast stress on those like yeah and just the sounds i make i mean
[unknown speaker 00:58:09] it's yes i've seen like at the at the field i've seen some huge ones that are i mean like bigger than this table like the whatever the i i don't know sizes but like i said they're they're huge and they run on i think 12s like 10 000 milliamp hour batteries and it's like oh my god watching them fly that
[unknown speaker 00:58:30] impressive yet concerning in a scary way bad props for the skills but right not my thing yeah i'm the same way but it's still fun to watch from a very far distance just in case i've had a set of
[unknown speaker 00:58:44] blade weights come flying at my head for my own helicopter i don't want to do that again see oh yeah you haven't had fun until you had a whip shaped lead weight come flying at your head it's funny so anyhow not funny i guess but concerning yeah a little bit we'll see how this
[unknown speaker 00:59:03] goes so good for you though you're getting back into something yeah i'm glad to see more fundage going towards hobbies it's fun to hear other people buy things because i haven't had a chance to buy stuff recently i have been very remiss in my airplane purchases this this year we'll see how change this probably not this year but yeah we'll see what we'll see what next year brings
[00:59:26] Dave: it doesn't help that brian keeps putting stuff on facebook either i know my gosh it's like i'm waiting for a certain stick to come up that i've been walking upstairs and hasn't been there yet
[unknown speaker 00:59:35] i'll call him dynamic balsa go go follow him on facebook he always posts well not always he's been
[00:59:41] Dave: doing a lot more he's been doing it almost every day now which i like yeah i mean he grabs like four or five and puts on there so i mean he's finding the wings to go with them the ones he's
[unknown speaker 00:59:51] posting yeah so that's always funny every time i go up there it's like we can't ever find the wings
[unknown speaker 00:59:55] for it i want this one oh okay where's the wing yeah that's unfortunate but it happens so what's what's our next our next swap meets not till what i think we're talking or january january first weekend
[unknown speaker 01:00:12] in january beloit beloit again that's that's a long time see if the camera the tollway camera catches us this time or not so it's kind of hit and miss oh yeah sometimes we get caught sometimes we don't forgot about that yeah wasn't my car so yeah keep waiting for a ticket to show up and
[unknown speaker 01:00:34] yeah never get anything well that's the same i've gone through a couple and i've gone online to the the tollway thing and looked and nothing's ever come up either so i don't know they'll catch me
[unknown speaker 01:00:43] one way but they won't catch me going the other way and weird and so then after the beloit i think
[unknown speaker 01:00:50] we're at toledo already right pretty close there might be something in between there but i think
[01:00:55] Dave: there's a couple down st louis area but i was thinking today it's like february i think march type
[unknown speaker 01:01:01] thing yeah i was thinking today i need to start rounding through my stuff to see what's being
[unknown speaker 01:01:06] shipped off to toledo yeah we got to make a list and check it twice and get ready to load up i'm
[01:01:12] Dave: running out of good stuff that i want to get rid of well yeah but we really don't get rid of it you guys just trade them we take it we take them to ohio and bring them right back that's still getting
[unknown speaker 01:01:21] rid of it well for me just swapping well no because i don't well i see what you're saying it's still getting rid of it for me it's just weird we have to take them so far for me to give them to dave yeah that's yeah all right shout out to brian yeah i forgot about that one too maybe we ought to
[01:01:38] Dave: do an internal swap meet before we go what do you have that i want what do i have that you want yes good idea that way we're not hauling them five hours then we have more room to bring stuff back
[unknown speaker 01:01:49] true sure one of these years you guys haven't been but we need to go to dayton
[unknown speaker 01:01:55] yeah i did that with tommy because he couldn't hit toledo that one year and that was that was a good spot bigger no it's not well it's in multiple buildings i wouldn't say it's bigger square footage wise in toledo it's there's a lot to it but square foot wise no definitely not bigger than toledo but there's a lot there's a lot of good planes there or there was i mean i should say there was a bunch vendors but i mean i know toledo's bringing a lot of the vendors yeah no
[unknown speaker 01:02:26] not many vendors it's more of just an actual swap i mean there's a few there but nothing nothing like toledo and it's not set up the same way as toledo to where there's a bunch of vendor booths you know there's there's tables and stuff and vendor tables but nothing no booth set up kind of
[01:02:43] Dave: like a trade show and that's that's what it was kind of trying to get back to which that's the way it
[unknown speaker 01:02:49] was yeah and it's heyday well hopefully the heyday is and it's still to come i think so i mean it's every year it's getting bigger bigger bigger bigger every year so yep and this year i guess i'm not gonna be staying on site again because i'll be riding with you guys so i know we can drop you off super eight mommy we'll talk about this okay maybe we can convince dave because you haven't
[unknown speaker 01:03:13] stayed on site yet i think you would like it i just the extra money i need more swap money not
[01:03:18] Dave: sleeping money okay i get it well we pick the trailer and just sleep in the trailer
[unknown speaker 01:03:25] we're not sleeping in the park i'm not doing that but you guys can do it whatever you want just hook the generator up to it we're fine oh my gosh i forgot dave you have a new plane you wanted to
[unknown speaker 01:03:41] talk about that was released it's not necessarily new okay so i lied it's a revision you a v2 a v2 i guess you could call it that actually they do call it that oh cool free weighing f14 tomcat twin v2 64 millimeter edf jet plug-and-play it is seems like they just brought this out the 64 millimeter f14 and not too long ago a year or so right yeah maybe from what i was understanding there are quite a few complaints about it people are having trouble landing it i think for majority of them were
[unknown speaker 01:04:18] people didn't understand how to land it bad technique okay because i saw footage of people landing them just fine i personally haven't flown one so i can't say one way or another but they've redesigned the wing on it and i can't tell it looks exactly the same to me but i don't see them side by side here new livery and a new wing other than that it's the same 64 millimeter f14 probably the best flying f14 out there that i've seen so obviously sweep doing
[unknown speaker 01:04:50] or swept wing fully swept sweepable wing with the spoiler ons and the flaps and and the get go also it has ailerons too or is that all it has ailerons and spoilers and oh wow all kinds of fun stuff here i think i saw somewhere it takes like up to nine channels is it is it retractable gear yes cool seven to nine channel there you go nine channel with thrust reverse and gyro modes okay absolute minimum of seven channel and what's the what's the damage
[unknown speaker 01:05:23] substantial oh 585 dollars i mean which doesn't sound awful then you realize it's 64 millimeter but it's about 64. yeah so i mean i mean that would be good size because that
[unknown speaker 01:05:39] that f18 hanging up over there is twin 40s yeah so sizable it's it's a very nice airplane for the
[unknown speaker 01:05:48] money it's let's see i'm trying to find the wingspan extended wingspan 49.2 so it's a four footer yeah that's not bad how long is it then i don't know you would ask that what's that mean dave it's 15th scale does that help no how long is the real one i don't know it weighs 90 ounces trying to stay close enough to the mic here to read this with my bifocals
[unknown speaker 01:06:15] you look like a teacher getting ready to yell at me
[unknown speaker 01:06:21] or librarian i don't have a length here that oh there it is 47.9 so it's almost square okay not bad and i don't think it has the swept span less than 48 less than 48 yeah 12 blade fan standard free wing stuff a bunch of nice servos in it gyro probably metal gears and all that stuff yeah
[01:06:46] Dave: a gyro is already in it i believe so okay there you go daniel not that bad man if you
[unknown speaker 01:06:52] i mean everything no i was with it like i mean yeah add a receiver and batteries does it say what battery now that you threw that down i threw it down okay i think it's
[unknown speaker 01:07:04] their standard 5000 6s yeah 5000 6s that's kind of cool i'm done with 6s batteries that's true
[01:07:11] Dave: why the cost i get it if i go 6s and i just go gas mower which that reminds me i need to get all my
[unknown speaker 01:07:21] batteries out and throw them back on charge just to make sure we're good for the winter it's a good reminder do that yeah put them all in store battery maintenance everyone yeah battery maintenance
[unknown speaker 01:07:32] okay anything else i don't think so i don't have anything else i think we pretty much covered everything we got this week good well then i'm finished yeah you are daniel would you like to take
[unknown speaker 01:07:46] us out no i did the beginning all right so you did the beginning so you have to do the end
