Ep 201: 2025 End of Year Wrap-Up, with the Wives!

[00:00:40] Nice job, buddy. So this is weird, not gonna lie. 2025 Year-end wrap-up recording on october 5th- it’s the 5th october 5th, as everybody knows by now. Tommy is gone, so by the magic of recording early and just letting this sit for two and a half months, he’s back for an episode.

[00:00:59] Welcome back hey it’s good to be home not really because you wouldn’t even be home.

[00:01:05] Well no I’m home right now well you’re home right now so when we’re recording yes that’s.

[00:01:09] What matters usually blonde then and then she died yeah wait a minute I told you I might be.

[00:01:15] Slightly hungover for my birthday yesterday. The margaritas were real good. Anyway, we have drunk lori. Yeah, drunk lori is a good time, I’m just saying and yeah, so how’s everybody doing what?

[00:01:32] What do we start with well it’s a year-end wrap-up so we’re going to talk about what we did this year.

[00:01:37] Up to up to october 5th are you even going to say why we are doing this early well by the time this.

[00:01:45] Comes out everybody will everybody will know because we’ll have two months with no tommy oh I didn’t I.

[00:01:50] Didn’t know when you were going to broadcast this got it okay never mind it’s the year end.

[00:01:57] I’m slow today. I told you I’m hungover. Yeah, I understand the confusion, but that’s okay. So, yeah, as we said before, this is october 5th. Yes, apparently a day after lori’s birthday, she is still not the brightest feeling. Yeah, feeling the effects of her celebration.

[00:02:17] We hope that’s what it is. It was a it’s 50 wonderful this year, so I celebrated. Now you all know what he deals with. Oh, we know.

[00:02:33] I tell stories, I hope they’re good always. They’re always very, very flattering, of course they are. So what? So, yeah, I’ve been deployed for a couple months. I’d love to tell you that it’s been going great, but honestly, we’re recording before I’ve deployed, so I’m just assuming at this point. Anyway, it’ll go great, I think.

[00:03:03] Everything will be fine, it’ll be good, it’ll be fine, it’ll be so fine. This one’s different than last time. Yes, it’s not the same location. No, it’s different and it’s not last time. It’s this time it’s different.

[00:03:18] It’s not 2023, it’s 2020. Can I say, though, six, at least the time of year is better than if it was like leaving in may and like last time. Yeah, right, yeah, so yeah, for that I’m thankful.

[00:03:33] So I’ll be back at a good time of year- april-ish, yeah- and I’m sure we’ll talk about it more when we record the previous episode later, but earlier I think I’m gonna start writing all this down. Yeah, the timeline is really. Yeah, it’s confusing. I don’t understand, so we’ll we’ll talk about.

[00:04:01] I think we’re safe okay it’s a user error no so how did we enjoy this year guys what did we do.

[00:04:10] Well, we were talking about that. Well, you were talking about that, Ron, a little earlier and you made it seem like we didn’t do as much this year, but I think we did a lot more this year than.

[00:04:18] We have previous. I see it did when I was going through and I it doesn’t feel like we have done as much this year, to me at least, as much flying, because I know I haven’t. It has been pitiful. To be honest, my numbers, well, mine’s not a lot better, but it’s better. I think it was windier this.

[00:04:35] Year, the wind here has been just bad. Yeah, yeah, we had wind early when a lot, and then it was hot wind in the middle. Yeah, it went windy straight to the hot- too hot to be outside to do anything, and yeah, but there’s still some flying time left. No, there’s not, because it’s the end of december right now, but hopefully between now and the time this actually airs, you guys will get a lot of flying.

[00:05:03] In at least three or four more hopefully they’re gonna confuse people listening that’s okay I’m.

[00:05:07] Confusing myself. So they’re here. They’ll be up to speed because they will have heard all the episodes previous to this which have not recorded yet exactly. We’re saying it’s october 5th. Lori is: look at.

[00:05:18] Her face she is just like I don’t know what’s going on what is happening but I mean a lot has.

[00:05:24] Happened? We, we, I feel like we’ve, we’ve all done a lot of stuff this year, even though it may not feel like it, like I got my turbine waiver, that’s big. Oh yeah, they’ve got a brand new- well, new to him- vehicle, that’s. I mean we’ve, we’ve done some stuff this year and it was this year that

[00:05:39] Dave went to the dark side. What is it? Oh, I went to freeze guy. Oh, that’s right. Yes, I changed radio systems. That’s big, that I mean that’s an entirely. I’ve had two big changes in my rc life, rc world.

[00:05:53] Yeah see lots of stuff plus we went to we’ll talk about them went to quite a few events more than.

[00:06:00] We have in previous years I think I think just knowing my numbers are lower means I know I haven’t.

[00:06:06] Done as much rc stuff this year oh you mean flying well I think in general your goal this year was a.

[00:06:13] Little less than last year. Anyway didn’t hit it, so that’s okay. Well, but also I mean, yeah, you’re, you’re flying. Your number of flights numbers are lower, but that’s not because you haven’t been trying, like you showed up to a couple events with stuff ready to fly and you just didn’t feel like flying so you didn’t.

[00:06:32] Fly yeah that’s I mean am I wrong okay he’s right I’m trying to think what well you went to buda park.

[00:06:41] You had airplanes in the car and you didn’t get them out oh that’s because it was 105 degrees yes and I.

[00:06:46] Did not want to do anything. We were melting just sitting there. And you- you went to eli, at least once, with an airplane in the car and didn’t pull it out to fly it. Yep, you had the jet in the car and you didn’t pull it out and fly it on one event. No, I didn’t fly it. I flew it before because I was there.

[00:07:02] More days than you were for the jet event is that what you’re talking about no that was another.

[00:07:06] Day we were there the jet was in the car because you were making oh yeah I know what you’re.

[00:07:10] Talking about I thought you were talking about events because you said no I’m sorry just in general.

[00:07:14] You’ve been to places, I should say, yeah, fields, I got you now prepared to fly but not flown. So yeah, your numbers are lower but full times. It’s not because you haven’t tried you, you went prepared to fly you.

[00:07:26] Just didn’t. Well, the time you’re talking about when I didn’t fly my jet- sure we can talk about that- was when I was purposefully there, purposefully there for you to get your waiver, wasn’t it? No, it.

[00:07:38] Was after that. Oh no, because you, you had the airplane. My mind it sounded better. No, your airplane was out the day I did the waiver, because there’s pictures of them together on the flight line. I don’t remember. Anyway, even though you think we haven’t done as much, we, we did a lot this year.

[00:07:57] And we’ll talk about them. So should we go in line on what we did? Events wise? Yeah, so starting in january. So we didn’t all talk about these first. This is just what I remembered. So if you have anything else, I kind of ran down your list. How did you look at anything? You can read my.

[00:08:12] Handwriting that’s impressive well mine’s equally as bad so I could have been a doctor I read doctors.

[00:08:18] All day so sure bring it on yeah so we started off the year at a swap meet yeah.

[00:08:27] I mean and what better way to start off a year right where was that wisconsin they.

[00:08:32] Went to wisconsin without me. Oh, you didn’t go. See, this is: oh, my god, you really didn’t go. You didn’t go this year, did you? No, then why didn’t? Was that last year that you went, the jamesville one? That was last year? Yeah, oh see, everything just goes. Oh wait, no, no, no, no, no. Yeah, that’s right this.

[00:08:52] Year. Right, I’m sorry, yes, okay, because, yeah, I met terry finally for the first time. I thought that was this year. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you’re right, man time old people. Right, like I started dealing with old people hard. Yes, sorry, that’s over 50 crowd, we’re impossible. Yes, jamesville, wisconsin was january was.

[00:09:08] A january. Yeah, yeah, okay, because this is the second time. Yes, it was right, dave, I remember. Yes, second, and so the first time tommy didn’t go because he was out of town. Yeah, yeah, granted, we’d start at.

[00:09:18] Four in the morning. So, yeah, it’s a little foggy, yeah, well, and I’m old, so he’s not a morning person and I’m not a morning, really not a morning person. But yeah, that was so we all went this year. Yes, even Reggie was there, remember. No, I remember that. Yeah, Reggie was with us. Yeah, we tried to get him to buy lots of stuff. Oh, that’s right, he didn’t. No, he didn’t, but I don’t think he was close. He almost bought that b2, mm-hmm, yeah, and I picked up the.

[00:09:49] The to don’t to dunk doll or whatever we were calling that terry dunk doll, the terry dunk doll. That’s it. Yeah, so and that, oh, that’s got to go on my list.

[00:09:57] Too. I’ve flown that one too. So now you’re. No, it’s kind of a thing. So you guys remember I bought that box of wheels. It had like 50, 60 wheels in it and some landing gear. That thing is gone. I have torn my house apart. I cannot find that box of wheels. It’s a big old box. How do you lose that? It wasn’t a small box. It is gone. I have no. And it’s not like you live in a mansion where it could be hiding somewhere.

[00:10:24] Isn’t that the one you sold at toledo yeah you sold something in toledo there’s just a big box.

[00:10:28] And you’re like oh just take it all for five bucks oh no not the wheels oh that was just a box of.

[00:10:32] Miscellaneous odds and ends I thought that was a bunch of wheels are you I seem to remember there.

[00:10:37] Being landing gear or wheels or something, because you were like: I will never use all these, yeah, no something. Wheels- oh okay, it was not the wheels I’m. I know you sold some wheels at toledo, though you tried, I bought your wheels. Oh, that’s right. Was that your box of wheels? I mean, I had a box of.

[00:10:57] Wheels but I had them all packaged you guys aren’t all hungover well no I haven’t had drinks since 2007.

[00:11:06] Nice I’ll look that’s the green tub is where I have those I’ll look in there and maybe your box is in.

[00:11:12] There yeah because I haven’t opened that box with toledo I thought that was a little treasure trove.

[00:11:16] Huh I’ll look in that thing maybe it’s in there I doubt it though yeah but maybe I don’t know Ron is.

[00:11:24] Thinking. I seem to remember I thought it was a box of wheels, dave, that you had, and I remember you telling- and I don’t know why I have it in my mind- that it was up at in wisconsin. That’s where I bought them, that’s where you, I bought that box of wheels in wisconsin and you kept the whole box. I kept the

[00:11:44] Whole box. Are you sure that you didn’t leave it there? Oh, I’m absolutely certain, I know. I remember having it at home because I had other wheels laying around. I threw in the box. Okay, okay, and I have no idea. Yeah, well, neither do I. A curious case of the missing week. It’s got to be there somewhere then.

[00:11:58] So my house is not that big yeah you sure you didn’t take them out into the into the garage or.

[00:12:03] Something. Yeah, they’re not out there. Oh, you look, I’ve. I’ve torn everything apart, but anyway, moving on now. They’re probably in the back of the old truck when you got rid of it.

[00:12:12] Yeah, I found fifty five dollars in the old truck when I got what paying for fifty five dollars and change. Don’t spend it all in one place. I haven’t okay.

[00:12:23] Well, I could probably buy a box of wheels. Well, I paid ten dollars, or maybe that’s what he made off of the wheels. Somebody left that for him could be: hey, thanks for the wheels. Here’s fifty five dollars and some change and some change odds and ends. So that was a nice surprise cleaning out.

[00:12:37] The truck fine fifty five dollars and an entire tub of change nice what a good year it’s been.

[00:12:42] Yeah, right, that’s the highlight reel. So what do you remember? What you bought in janesville? I remember what I bought. I see, I know I didn’t prepare very well, for I bought two very cool things.

[00:12:54] What’d you get I’ll see if anybody else remembers he’s trying are you just saying that because you.

[00:13:00] Don’t really remember no I remember well I’ll just say it then I bought the e-flight f-18 the.

[00:13:05] Blue angel f-18 that was oh that was there yeah that was oh it was on that table okay I’m seeing.

[00:13:10] It now. And then, from the same guy, I bought the su-27. Yeah, yeah, the two tones very much. I’ve only flown it twice, but I need to fly it more and there’s no reason I haven’t flown it because it flies good. Yeah, well, here we go. 2026: Yeah, I bought those and I sold a bunch of covering. Remember that I had a box of covering that like sold as I was bringing it into the building? Yeah, I don’t think it’s.

[00:13:31] All coming back. I don’t think I brought anything to sell. I don’t remember buying anything. Did I might have? I don’t remember. I’m gonna say no because my wife is next to me.

[00:13:42] I see everything you bring in you don’t.

[00:13:46] Crystal yeah oh god I shouldn’t have said that okay I see everything that is here.

[00:13:54] Not necessarily that but do you remember you’ve seen everything that every I tried to put blinders.

[00:14:00] On, nothing escapes. So here’s the thing: I could be down in the basement. Well, I was down in the basement quite a bit this year, sure, and I still couldn’t tell you what’s down there that belongs to. I don’t.

[00:14:10] Know what’s down there? For I can tell you right now, everything that is in the basement is mine, that’s true. I don’t have anyone else’s no stuff in my basement, right? Nope, I am all caught up on.

[00:14:21] Projects. That’s awesome. Yeah, thank goodness, and the basement is now totally yours again. Yeah, so just in time to leave. Oh here, we got no more flowers, no more flowers. So, side note: daughter got married.

[00:14:32] A couple weeks ago and our basement was full of flowers and decorations and stuff. For several months, yes, I’ve been working and now that is all like february- time for me to leave, and I sold it all.

[00:14:42] And they were absolutely gorgeous. One fell sweep. I sold it all to the or one fell swoop, whatever. Thanks, you’re good at pointing out that’s a wrong for you. No, but I sold it to the wedding ceremony facility. She bought all of it. That’s awesome, and so that was big. This year my daughter got married. That’s it’s kind of big year. She is no longer our problem, kind of.

[00:15:08] Effects that’s kind of rc related because it affected my it really did it displays a lot of.

[00:15:14] His stuff I said oh I’m not going to take up that much space and then all of a sudden it was everywhere.

[00:15:18] It was okay. Yeah, it was beautiful. Yep, it was a beautiful wedding. Anyway, back to this. Well, you don’t remember what you bought. I don’t remember what you bought either. I don’t either. Is there they?

[00:15:28] Bought wheels I bought a box of wheels and I got terry’s xb-70 terry does oh that’s right yep have.

[00:15:34] You flown that since well we’re going to talk about it but yeah I have tried to fly it again and.

[00:15:38] It’s still not flying so okay we’ll talk about it in a minute I mean what are you doing Ron I was.

[00:15:44] Just looking stuff up on my phone for funsies. Oh okay, you just waiting. I figured you would talk, okay. Well then, our next event that I have if we’re going to move on, we went to toledo.

[00:15:55] Which is another swap meet you guys always go to that one right well we tried not next year.

[00:16:00] We tried to he’s not the year before you didn’t make it last year right or was it the year before.

[00:16:06] Last year it was it was the year before yeah I was here I was here this year I bought his Tom.

[00:16:09] Goes by annually right no Tom makes it miss no misses makes it makes it misses something and.

[00:16:16] Then hopefully makes it from then in perpetuity. From then perpetuity- wow, that means forever for those that are done. I just haven’t heard that word in a while- perpetuity. Well, once he gets home from

[00:16:27] This trip he told me he doesn’t have to go anywhere for two years right but that’s it’s called dwell but.

[00:16:34] Yeah I understood but and you got three left so it’s still possible no I wouldn’t say no well.

[00:16:41] That’s true it’s highly unlikely highly unlikely yeah we thought even going again would be highly.

[00:16:47] Unlikely we did yeah well no we knew I was going to go october of 26 yes that’s true yes but that was.

[00:16:58] Not that long ago we found that out either right yeah then I don’t want to say too much I don’t know what.

[00:17:04] No it’s okay it’s fine within the past few months I’ll shut you down if I have to yeah.

[00:17:07] Yeah, we’ve, we’ve known about the. Yeah, we’re getting off topic. Yeah, that’s fine. So tommy’s gone now. Anyway, we went to toledo this year- toledo always a good time to hang out with hank and those guys- and we raced rc cars. I’ve raced rc cars for the first time in 15 years, probably. It’s been a while, yeah, and

[00:17:30] It was fun and mine is still sitting back there whatever you call that under the tv stand thing.

[00:17:34] Yeah it was a good time under the tv well what does mrcrc okay so I’ll be honest I don’t know okay.

[00:17:46] When that is tommy’s old truck that came to him somehow. Yeah, I got it from ed, yeah, and it had a pink and green and white body on it. The boy was colorblind. Well, it was. I thought tommy painted it, to be honest, because it was right up his alley in colors, but anyway. So, oh, oh, the look. Come on, that is what you wow. Oh, that’s beautiful. It was very 70s vintage with, like the really need to start. I guess that was video, but anyway. So, yeah, it was the cab over. You’ll have to correct me because I don’t know.

[00:18:18] What all the terms are. So this is what I would call it. This is the blank trucks, tamiya, the tto ones, tto ones, okay, the euro trucks. And so I was running that body doing practice laps and all that kind of stuff and it was broken. It was in many, many pieces. It was fopping pretty good, yeah, yeah, the body, yeah, and it kept hitting, it was causing digging into the ground and, yeah, I was not doing very good. So

[00:18:49] Somehow I don’t remember if somebody told me they had one for sale, if I saw the body sitting there for sale, but it was like 10 bucks and my god it made a huge difference in how that ran and switched to.

[00:18:58] A conventional yeah it’s more of a conventional cab as opposed to a cab over where all the weight is.

[00:19:02] Not over the front, right yeah. And so I don’t know what the body means or what that was. I did take off all the marijuana stickers that were on it. Oh yes, it has a green theme, yes, and black, so there’s there’s a lot of black on there. But dave saved the day on this one too, because he rolls out his 700 pound little luggage container, whatever that he takes, with all his, all his racing gear in it. And when I bought this one, the front mounts were different. They were shorter or no. The cab over uses.

[00:19:36] A different set of mounts right, and so of course, I got the body, but the guy didn’t have the right mounts for it and dave went through his. Like I said, it takes a forklift to get it out of his truck. Just menagerie of parts that he brought with him. You are full of big words. Well, crystal bought me a word of the day calendar, so I’m trying to get them all in at once, thank you. And she pays him a quarter every time he uses them. So it’s not a quarter, there’s other ways, but anyway. So yes, dave saved.

[00:20:08] The day on that and I was able to race and have fun. It was a bunch of a bunch of fun. I had never done that before, so that was a first this year for carpet racing for me. It was a good time, I think.

[00:20:18] They’re going to change it up as per our recommendations, maybe not just our recommendations, but they’ll maybe do the racing and the timing of it a little bit differently, so we can concentrate on.

[00:20:28] The yeah swap meet as well but yeah hope we’ll see what next year brings and we’ll let.

[00:20:32] Yeah and then they yeah thanks yeah I don’t what it was so yeah we bought lots of stuff.

[00:20:40] We bought lots of stuff oh god let’s see I haven’t even looked at what I bought okay.

[00:20:44] We’ll continue on tell, tell your tale. Well, I bought the samson rc hobby shop. Oh, you did, I forgot about that. The cap 231r, cap 231r. Yeah, fly is great.

[00:20:56] Flown it several times and it’s a good looking airplane. It’s in the matt chapman scheme and that will lead to another story we’ll talk about later. But yeah, I think that was the only real thing I bought. I sold a lot. Well, you said you bought a lot. Well, I guess I spent a lot on one airplane, which that was a lot of money on one airplane, but it’s cool. But I sold the. Yeah, sold quite a bit of stuff I and tried to sell some stuff that didn’t sell which. That’s part of it. But I sold the, the double vision biplane which was

[00:21:30] That hurt a little bit because that thing flies really good and it was had. It was a really good setup. Well, why did you sell it then big? It’s difficult to get in and out of the house. Same reason I sold the beast last year. Yeah, is it just? Was that last year? No, that was this year. The beast also just too big to get in and out of the house without damaging them. So yeah, I was sad to see that go. And then a few other smaller airplanes, I think the toledo special that I bought a couple years previous that one sold. And then what else did I sell? I think I

[00:22:05] Sold an e-flight something. But, Ron, you sold a lot of stuff, did I? Yeah, you sold a lot of e-flight stuff, remember? No, gosh, the charity, right, that was one of them. Then I think you sold. Did you sell a twin or something there? I don’t remember. There’s pictures somewhere. Was that this?

[00:22:23] Year yeah see my years are going all together this is bad this is terrible dave talk amongst.

[00:22:32] Yourselves. Pull up the pictures I have. As far as selling, I got rid of my t28, which I didn’t really want to get rid of, but it was just taking up too much room. I got rid of my right flyer- oh I’m- which was sold twice at the event. Yeah, that’s weird. How did you sell it twice? He didn’t sell it twice. No, oh, the, the purchaser sold it again. Oh. So yeah, because they weren’t sure they could get it in the van to get it home. Oh, did they make some money off of it? I guess, but I don’t care.

[00:23:07] Yeah, I got what I mean. Yeah, exactly as far as shopping goes, I really didn’t even leave, leave our group. I bought Tom’s wheels, I bought Ron’s cub and I bought daniel’s stinson. You sold your t28, though, and the camo one, the big t28. Yeah, yeah, we sold the big t28. What’d you do with that cub? I forgot all about that. It’s still sitting in my back room waiting to be recovered, okay, and one of the launchers is broken on it now. I think it had a dog incident. Yeah, so Ron sold an f16, he sold a.

[00:23:42] Edge, I do remember that. Now it looks like you sold your the umx or the. It’s not a umx, but whatever it is the, that orange ugly thing that everybody loves. What’s that thing called? I don’t know? I’m not there yet. Hold on, I was at, I was at 24, I was looking at it wrong. Oh, the mini draco or micro draco, that there’s a cherokee that you sold. Looks like you sold a cub. I did that was the one that they’ve got that looks like. Oh, your sea wind. Yeah, glad to see that one go by. Yeah, the stinger, I think you.

[00:24:14] Ended up going home with that and then you sold that somewhere else I sold that at joan all yeah.

[00:24:19] I was even putting incentives on that trying to make it go away yeah it feels like you guys did a.

[00:24:24] Lot more than you that’s what I’m you have a lot you’ve done a lot yeah that’s what I’m saying well.

[00:24:29] You don’t realize that until you start talking about it and then remembering things because I completely forgot about that whole trip. Yeah, you’re only two meets in. They’ve tried to sell.

[00:24:38] A helicopter. It’s still sitting on my table in the house, yeah, yeah, the people just wanted you to give that away and that’s. It was already at a giveaway price. I agree, people are people in hard. People were.

[00:24:50] People, that’s all right. I take too many pictures, come to find out because I still have not gotten to april of this year, yet april 4th. So in case you’re looking for your pictures, yeah, that was. Oh, yeah, that’s that’s where we bought the really cheap receivers and stuff too. Remember that? Yep member. Yes, I do. And how did those work out for you? Good, they’ve worked.

[00:25:12] Out really well, yeah, actually, yeah, I bought a couple of kits that were hard to find. Remember two bellairs, oh yeah. Size, yeah, northeast aerodynamics: it’s always a good time at toledo. Yeah, they can.

[00:25:24] Rotate, rotate the stock, whether or not you make any money on it or not, at least there’s new stuff coming in and going, old stuff going out. Exactly there’s the pictures. Yep, oh yeah, the small edge.

[00:25:33] Oh, the ec 1500. Welcome, that was another one five minutes ago. Yeah, I know, sorry. -Huh. Yeah, I forgot about the ec15. So that was the twin you were talking about. I’m like I don’t know what you’re talking about, twin. Yeah, good time, losing my mind. No, you’re not. I’m not yet. We’re all getting there. Wow, just getting old, which, by the way, dave, because I just saw it and remembered. So, the, the floats, I kept off of the, the cub, right if you had another project for them, and apparently they won’t work.

[00:25:59] Anyway, yeah, so you can have them if you want. I don’t want them now. You’re stuck with them. That’s fine, I’ll make them work for something else. Try to sell them in toledo next year. They were for that.

[00:26:08] Airplane. So that’s fine, just sell them at toledo next year. Maybe I will. We’ll see. Okay, what was next, because I’ll just scroll through pictures, remember stuff. Are we done with toledo? Yeah, I think. I mean, I think we’ve beat that one to death. Well then, I know the next one don’t know. And we can’t forget joan all. Don’t know joan all. This was a fun year because- and we’ll talk about other things later- but we got to take my trailer for the first time and it worked out very well. It did. We’ll talk about and

[00:27:35] I’m. I’m probably going to replace my twin otter, the blue one that I’ve taken. Yeah, yeah, replace it with the new bigger. The new bigger one that assembles easier. That looks nicer that. Yeah, this one flies better because it’s a bit bigger and this one has seen a lot of flights and it was purposefully bought for joan all, so I think it’s time to sell it at joan all. I could. That would be fitting. That would. That would be on the line. Yeah, be fitting. Be fitting. Either way, Ron will correct.

That was exciting to get that to them. It was exciting to get rid of it. That was no see, I enjoyed it because I got to, I got to work on it, I got to know enough.

[00:29:40] In the front of it, there you go on top. I mean, even then it’s hard to get past the fact that how slow it is, which that’s it’s not designed to be super fast- I get it. It has a purpose which just doesn’t really suit what you were looking to get out of it. I think is it kind of like watching a barge, kind of it’s a working boat. [00:31:15] No, I guess I repaired that one, so I’m still net zero, because I crashed the 90 viper on the last day, I remember. But I did repair that. So it’s not, it’s, it’s an airplane that is still in the flying roster. So yeah, so yeah, net zero, which that’s not bad. To come away from joe null, net zero that’s. That’s an accomplishment, because there’s lots of opportunity to plus up at joe null, and not just with the horizon deals that they show up with. There’s lots of guys that are selling you stuff there, which is always a draw. It always pulls, pulls me in those directions. You never know what kind of stuff people.

Remember, down there by the, across the street from the- I can’t remember which model that was, but it was an extreme flight airplane, yeah, that you almost pulled the trigger on and

Also the e-flight extra 330 which I flown once the elevator was messed up. The servo on the elevator wouldn’t center. They sent me a new one. I haven’t put it in yet but I will. [00:37:36] So was booter before alini jets no yes I was about to get my calendar out I was like wait no.

[00:37:48] Booter park was before alini jets so yeah we can talk about that okay it was all nitro it was all hot.

[00:37:53] It was very warm. Yeah, I had to tell you how to fix your nitro engine, didn’t I? You did. I took a stab in the dark or a shot in the dark, all yeah. So I was having some issues with the dualist.

[00:38:05] It’s two nitro engines, oh yeah, and normally, last time I flew it I think- heck, it may have been even a year before last. It’s been a while since I’ve flown it. Yeah, one of the engines was being a little temperamental. Ornery, ornery. There you go. And yeah, Ron came in clutch and said, hey, it sounds to me like it really could benefit from a new glow.

[00:38:33] Plug I said he treaded lightly on that one didn’t I said it that slow that purposeful for the dramatic.

[00:38:40] Effect yeah I’m sure and so I put a new plug in it and lo and behold I had the two successful.

[00:38:46] Flights after that so yeah Ron so the dualist at booter park had a successful flight so that.

[00:38:53] Is. It came full circle. It did. That is the extent of my knowledge on how to take care of nitro engines. So I thought: what I’m gonna? I’m gonna share my knowledge, yeah, and I’m glad you.

[00:39:04] Did, because, had you not, I probably would not have flown it. You would still now, late december, be trying to get into probably. Yeah, but no that was a cool story. For those that haven’t been following the, the dualist projects that we put together a couple years ago were spurred by a story that I had crashed a dualist at booter park when I was going to college down there and how I wanted to build another one, and Ron said: well, we can get the plans, let’s just, and we’ve got a laser cutter, let’s just build some. So we did, and then, yeah, I returned to.

[00:39:39] Booter park to fly a dualist successfully which was kind of a neat story and even the neatest thing.

[00:39:45] Some of those parts on your new dualist were from the old dualist that’s correct retracts are from the.

[00:39:51] Old one of the engines the tune pipes I guess that’s about it yeah you couldn’t salvage much from.

[00:39:57] That no I guess I don’t know how I feel about that because you crashed the original one what year.

[00:40:04] Oh this would have been like 91 and two maybe somewhere in there yeah let’s say 92 okay and we built.

[00:40:11] Our dualists. Three years, 22, I think. So, yeah, about three years ago. So you literally had parts from this airplane sitting. I kid you not then from the math we just did: for two decades, yes, correct, 20 years. Yeah, 365 days times 20: yes, damn, I would have gotten rid of them. All the moves I mean we’ve moved like

[00:40:36] Three times, four times since then, yeah, and so you’re like, oh, one of these days- and it was, it was, it was a thorn in his side the whole time because he was just very, it was, he’s very upset about the whole thing because that original one he took it back to the balsa because it was fuel soaked. So he meticulously- I’m surprised you remember that you probably talk about it all the time- no, he really didn’t. No, he meticulously restored that plane and was very excited about flying that plane because the

[00:41:08] Retracks and everything on it. So the- the original dualist was actually given to me by the guy that taught me how to fly, yeah, so like the dualist story goes almost back to the beginning of my- yeah, flying hobby entrance, yeah, 1947. So I mean, yeah, I hung on to the stuff for a long time but like a couple of nitro engines and some retracts they don’t take up that much room. So that’s the big deal and honestly,

[00:41:38] He, he wanted some redemption from that. Well, I’m so glad something about us doing this spurred that. Yeah, yeah, and you, yeah, to make us build those airplanes that I have flown once or twice. It was very.

[00:41:52] Satisfying to return, he can close that chapter and fly a dualist with the original, some of the original parts, successfully at the place where the other one met its demise. He’s very sentimental about some things, believe it or not he is, but yes, the day was extremely warm and eventful. It was hot. I mean, not only did I get to fly the dualist, we got to fly our electrostreaks. Well, most of us successfully flew our electrostreaks. I flew mine for a little while.

[00:42:26] Which that was crazy remember the old game called jarts yes yeah that’s kind of very reminiscent.

[00:42:31] What dave was doing. What happened, dave? Oh yeah, he crashed. Yeah, the locating dow on the front of the wing decided it was no longer up to the job and departed company. Needless to say, the wing decided to leave as well, and the wing took forever to land. It did. It took its sweet time.

[00:42:52] Coming down, which was kind of neat because I went ahead and recorded circles around it and Ron got a picture of me flying my electro streak in front of your wing as it was fluttering down.

[00:43:02] That was. On the other hand, the fuselage decided it didn’t want to hang around and came down as fast as it possibly could. Yeah, it was. The picture is after both of his.

[00:43:10] Parts had landed oh that’s right and then you flew between them right and I got a but I did.

[00:43:15] But I did do a circle or two around the wing as it was coming around like oh look what I can do kind.

[00:43:20] Of cool? Yeah, I had. So it took so long for that wing to come down that I had time to go. Oh my gosh what.

[00:43:26] Happened oh that looks cool oh where’s my phone oh it’s in my pocket let me get my phone out oh put.

[00:43:31] In my card, unlock it, open the camera, let’s go to zoom, let’s go. We’re gonna go to portrait. No, no, we’re gonna do landscape. Start recording. There it is, and I still have like a 30 second video, yeah.

[00:43:43] Of the wing of the wing coming fluttering down like a leaf in the breeze it wanted its last swan song.

[00:43:49] I just found it interesting that the wing was feet from the fuselage they almost landed yeah 20 feet or.

[00:43:56] So yeah it was fairly close proximity yeah good time cost me a battery it was you had a.

[00:44:06] Problem with that. With new batteries: yeah, dave likes to like buy a band or a brand new battery and then crash them the first flight. Yeah, he just likes to break them in. It’s like: or break them or break.

[00:44:16] Them how does everybody else crash and not lose a battery and every time every time I lose a battery.

[00:44:21] What you were doing about 110 miles an hour straight into the well see that’s so that’s a little.

[00:44:25] Different probably part of it has a lot to do with it yeah when you crash you like to.

[00:44:29] You crash you. I come in, make sure that coming in fast, yeah, yeah, yeah, you make sure we have to have a something to actually dig out your airplane from the ground and you like to make your mark on the world.

[00:44:43] Literally. Yeah, I was just getting ready to go there earlier this year with the goblin leaving an imprint of the what the leading edge of the airplane looks like in the ground, which that was.

[00:44:57] Believe it or not that was last year I was here we go that wasn’t this year tommy oh yeah.

[00:45:02] Oh that was fall of last year that’s right because all the all the corn was out that’s right yeah so.

[00:45:06] Over a year ago now. Goodness, yeah, time flies when you’re having fun. Okay, so we need to speed up a little bit, because we’ve been 45 minutes in. Oh okay, so that was boot apart. So alini- super jets, I think, was next. Yep, that was a fun time. That was my first time co-cd-ing an event and with that now I’m

[00:45:25] Going to do them on my own. Well, and last year, maybe the past couple years, you’ve had really crappy weather for that and not a whole lot of people showed up, if I remember correctly. Nope, that’s not.

[00:45:35] The case we had less people this year than last year but no I’m sure was it that it was completely.

[00:45:42] That was not. Yeah, that was not the alini super jets, that was the war burden. Oh, okay, yeah, that, because last year we had the remnants of the hurricane. Oh, yeah, yeah. So yes, I was last year. I know I shouldn’t bring it up, but I was the recipient, award-winning recipient, of the pilot’s choice award, because you were like the only one there. I was the only one there and I did award that to myself, but still, I was the recipient of that award. Crystal, coming in with reality.

[00:46:13] But I redeemed myself. This year at super jets I did win the babo award, the what, the babo award. So there was a guy named babo that apparently died a few years ago but he was always like big into helping other people, helping the events run well and doing all that kind of stuff, so I got that award, award this year. Congratulations, thank you. That was it in super jets, but anyway, yeah, and tommy crashed. It was oh yeah, yeah, you look like he didn’t remember, he didn’t want to.

[00:46:43] Remember. Well, I was trying to forget, but oh, so we won’t talk about it. Well, I had trauma for him because when he said I crashed my jet, I’m like, oh, my god, yeah, and that’s all I said. I didn’t say he didn’t.

[00:46:56] Put it in the beans but no he didn’t so in her head she saw a big fiery I did and I.

[00:47:01] Thought all the work he put into that all the money he saved to get that it’s just poof it’s.

[00:47:07] Gone, shattered fiberglass and dreams. Well, remember if we told you the one last year that went in like just past the runway. Yeah, literally went in so deep that the nose cone is still in the ground.

[00:47:16] That was what I was envisioning and that was a little fireball. And then he didn’t respond for a while and I just had this pit in my stomach for him. But what I didn’t tell him was when he said he was taking his jet that day I almost said maybe you shouldn’t, but I didn’t. I didn’t say that I’m like yeah, he’s a grown man, he can figure, he knows what he’s doing. But in the pit, like that morning, I almost said maybe you shouldn’t today, maybe today’s not the day to do that, but it

[00:47:45] Would have happened whenever based on it would have what happened yeah so.

[00:47:51] Anyway, it’s all. Thankfully it’s all about bubbles. Yep, it’s all repaired and ready to go. Yeah, so I mean, hopefully in a couple months, by the time this comes out, yeah, maybe I will have fly it and blown it.

[00:48:03] Maybe I don’t know when he comes home in three months because this is coming out in january this is.

[00:48:09] Yeah happy new year yeah they’re close too I don’t know yeah we’ll see.

[00:48:15] So anyway yeah line of jets good time food was great yep a lot of cool airplanes yeah and.

[00:48:22] The weekend after that. I don’t know if we counted or not. I didn’t fly in it, but I went. The warbirds and classics, the aligner warbirds and classics went there for a day. Cool airplanes there. I went there.

[00:48:30] For a day also did not go on the really busy day. I went the day before. So yeah, and I went. Did we go on?

[00:48:37] The same day, I think, so oh, I don’t remember if you were there or not, and that’s sad. I was there. That was only like two slash four months ago, let’s see. Then after that we had the vintage flying yep, yep and mclean. That was a. That was a good flying. I enjoyed that one, even though I didn’t fly or bring anything to fly, because it had to be nitro and I own like no nitro. I guess I have one. I mean it had to be like and they made

[00:49:08] No bones about it like as soon as we got there they hit us up.

[00:49:12] Well, yeah, because you asked. You asked like: what is, what is the? What was the word you used? What is the spirit? Yeah, this event like, and the guy’s like, oh, we really don’t care what you fly, as long as it’s not electric and it’s nitro, yeah, oh well. So then you really do.

[00:49:29] Care in the junk like we had just pulled in fact I think the truck was still running because.

[00:49:35] We hadn’t parked yeah and Ron’s like well let’s go home let’s go home this is fun I didn’t bring.

[00:49:40] Anything anyway so I mean I knew that was an issue of some sort but yeah but I took the ginormous.

[00:49:46] Cub and we took the Telemaster and the contender, I think is what, nitro gas and nitro, yeah, yeah, flew all three of them several times each and that was a good time. That was a good time. I had a lot of fun at that event. It was like just low-key enough to where you could kind of yeah, not feel I don’t want to say stressed, but not hurried to do stuff right, and there was plenty of time to fly. Yeah, I.

[00:50:09] Didn’t have to wait or anything like that. So, no, I agree, that’s a. That’s one I wouldn’t mind hitting again. Yeah, yeah, we should definitely. Yep, agree, put that on our, our list of things. Good time, that was one of the things that we did. I and I don’t remember- usually when we do this, I listen to the episode last year to write down what our goals were and stuff, and I didn’t, but I know one of the things we said was that we wanted to try and go to new fields this year. Yeah, and we did, we did.

[00:50:36] We went to booter park that was new for well for you yeah we went to mclean that was new for all of.

[00:50:41] Us so we hit two new fields which that’s two more than last year yeah right and next year I think we.

[00:50:47] Ought to up that even. Yeah, and I think we’ve said this before too, but we really need to go to decatur. No kidding, that is so close, I don’t know why and we just have not. Yeah, so maybe when you guys go to the decatur swap meet, you can maybe talk to the decatur folks there, and when they have their open house, that’s something out. Yeah, yeah, but yeah, we should. I mean, there’s like you said, they’re so

[00:51:19] Around there it’s not like there aren’t opportunities to do right we just need to make the effort.

The- yeah, svrc had a fly-in, the scale fly-in- and we ended up going there and flying a bunch of stuff. It was a lot of fun. Yeah, dave flew, daniel flew, I flew, you flew, flew my creekry cry, cry- still don’t know how to say that it flies. Well, I flew it too it so I actually got more time on it, because before this I think I’d flown it once. Yeah, and it is not much. It’s happier on pavement for taking off. Yeah, I will absolutely.

[00:52:07] Sure, say that, but it flies better than it looks like it should. Yeah, I mean it looks like a cartoon airplane, right, it kind of does. Yeah, honestly for his, I don’t want to say crappily put together, but like it’s not a great ARF, there’s differences when you’re putting one together.

[00:52:25] You’re like oh like that it’s not yeah there’s a difference in quality it’s not a flex or an.

[00:52:29] Extreme climate or whatever the what, the tolerances are a little wide. Yeah, right, yeah, like, oh, just fill it with glue, but it flies a lot better than I was expecting. Yeah, I, I, you, let me fly it and.

[00:52:40] I thought it flew great. Yeah, it still has the weird like if you at once. Well, come on, I was trying to get you a good shot, I know, oh, watch this. I did not say that. I said here I will try to get, because you wanted me to bank it to the left or whatever so you could get a shot of the top of it. So I was like, okay, well, I’ll try to do that low, so you get a shot of it with the green in.

[00:53:02] The background it was. It was like feet off the ground, it was inches and the picture shows whatever you were probably six inches or so off the ground. It’s intact. Yeah, thank you. Is that your six inches crystal off the top rope?

[00:53:30] And it was a good time at tap line crystal disputes crystal came yeah she was there I came out with poppy.

[00:53:39] Joe, yeah, yeah, it was. It was a good. It was a good time. Yeah, the weather was decent, it wasn’t terribly windy, so we got to fly even the smaller stuff, which it wasn’t super hot. It wasn’t super hot, it was actually a really nice day. Hopefully they’ll do it again at the same time frame next year and I bet so we can hit that, socialize that with other fields that we go to next year and get them to come to ours. Yeah, maybe we can build, build a community. Oh yeah, that’s great. Yeah, yeah. So, so that was all of our flying stuff. Yeah, well, I mean, those are the events we went to, but we did other flying too.

And then the only other one that we did yesterday- slash two and a half months ago- was the wings and wheels at the airport and it was kind of a show-off thing where the, the local club here, took airplanes out and dave and daniel and tommy were out showing off their airplanes and stuff to the public.

[00:54:40] Static event yeah yep static you can’t fly at an airport obviously.

[00:54:44] What are they gonna do stop you probably you should have tried with force he was there so.

[00:54:49] I mean they would have stopped him with force maybe I mean your jet had crashed once already.

[00:54:54] So what are they gonna do? Yeah, right, yeah, but yeah. So you brought that out and you were showing that off for people. Dave and daniel brought out a bunch of airplanes to fill out the little.

[00:55:04] Hangar space they had and it was the first time I had made it and it was a good show yeah there’s.

[00:55:09] Some cool full-size aircraft there. Yeah, last year’s show was better because we actually had some military aviation there last year but because of the government shutdown and lack of a budget and stuff like that, none of the military folks could be there this year. So, yeah, no 130, no 135, no army helicopters. But hopefully next year we’ll we’ll get to get those back and then some, hopefully we’ll try to get some fighters there next year. Build the event. That’d be cool yeah.

[00:55:35] Well and then Ron found a plane that he wants to get a little rc replica yeah so.

[00:55:45] Yes, I mentioned to you that, oh, that would be cool to build a scale airplane off of, and now she’s totally got you planning on doing it. I say that a lot. Well, yeah, and you can see how many I have tri-motor anyone. So no, it wasn’t the tri-motor, no, no, no. But I’m saying I talk a lot about airplanes that would be cool to do. So don’t hold me to that. That was just a conversation we had where

[00:56:11] I said I’m just saying, if someone found it well, can I have not? Can somebody enlighten us to what the heck you’re talking about? What plane was it a stinson detroiter? What? What is it she had?

[00:56:24] She has it up thank goodness what hold on so I’m thinking that little half of all the.

[00:56:30] Powered thing no so it was a and I don’t know if I’m saying it right the stinson detroiter sm2aa.

[00:56:38] Okay yeah see that’s it was like a maroon plane there oh was that the one that was parked next to.

[00:56:45] The big black biplane no that was the one that was parked next to the model a car well I didn’t get.

[00:56:53] Anywhere other than just in front of the hangar and okay so then you wouldn’t have seen this one.

[00:56:57] This was all the way back in the george hangar. Oh yeah, I didn’t make it back there, which we walked all the way back there to see the mustang and we went literally all the way around it and then came all the way back and I forgot to go look at the mustang. So the guy, the guy is rich as whatever has a p51, mustang, f4, corsair all up in his hangar and stuff, and so we’re, we walked back there, piper and I, because crystal was working, she didn’t get to go, but anyway. So we walked back there and looking at all,

[00:57:28] The stuff, and I mean there’s mclaren cars sitting next to real shelby must or shelby cobras and blah, blah, blah, and so that kind of took my eyes off of the mustang from there. So we went into the hangar which connects to another hangar and when you go out of that hangar the mustang was sitting between the two and we just walked right by it and didn’t even notice poor mustang. I know, I mean I’ve seen it before, but piper hadn’t, so I thought that would be something kind of cool for her to see in person. She was the one that said she wanted to walk over there. No, but it was a good time, like I said,

[00:58:02] It’s cool to see. So you’re showing me a picture of this airplane. I’m working on it. I was also talking at the same time, so he can’t. He got distracted. So is this one of george’s airplanes or it’s either that or belongs to the museum. I don’t know which. Yeah, how to write out the same thing, because that.

[00:58:19] I think so. I think the museum is just his airplane corporation. Right, do, do, but he does have a lot of airplanes in there. He’s got a. I think he just recently acquired a champ. It looks like I’ve seen a champ out on the bad picture about on the ramp in front.

[00:58:37] Of the- oh, that is cool looking. It’s got the old 20s style and then the 20s colors, with the maroon and the what’s it called. Like the antique off what. Yeah, antique white. Yeah, that’s sharp. That seems like that wouldn’t be all that difficult to build. It looks like it’d be right up dave’s alley, to be honest, oh yeah, oh well, yeah. So the- the thing on the in the front of it, if you want to look it up- said stinson, detroit. No, I said detroiter, detroiter. Do what that is now then. Yeah, okay, cool.

[00:59:11] No I like that would be that would be a good warm-up project to the trimower because it’s.

[00:59:16] Very similar sort of well, where’s the write-up on it? It’s right here. I can’t, I’m not going to go into too much, yeah so. Yeah, that was fun. I’m sorry I got it going. You’re just having a hard time remembering from three months ago. Well, what stinks, though, is it was literally yesterday. It was figuratively three months ago. So he did have his own little tri-motor in there too. I didn’t know what it

[00:59:50] Was, and so what I like to do when I go into places like that, I don’t read the stuff, but I take pictures so I can go back. So this is the picture I took of all the text. Oh is all. Yeah, I don’t know what it is, but so here’s a picture of blurry, some sort of a, an actual little tri-motor, smaller airplane of some sort. Well, if it’s the one, I think it is, it’s actually a one-off.

[01:00:10] Oh, I, I would tell you, except that I can’t, because that’s kind of cool looking. Yeah, is that the one you’re thinking of, dave? Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s it. Yeah, I think that’s a one-off airplane anyway, and I don’t know what it is.

[01:00:27] Okay, so now that was all of our events we’ve done and we are now over an hour in. Let’s talk about flights and what our highlights of the year were. Should we start off with highlights and then go to flights? Or you want to do flights and then go to highlights? Well, let’s do highlights, okay first.

[01:00:44] For me the highlight of this year was getting my jet running and then getting my, getting my turbine waver. That was kind of the highlight of my hobby this year. Yeah, dave, switching away from.

[01:00:58] Spectrum moving into free sky yeah love that system yeah not looking back nice Ron well I have two okay.

[01:01:09] And one is directly related to the hobby and one is ancillary to the hobby. So I got my trailer this year, which I think is awesome. Good job. Crystal loves it. Do I, you do I? I think we have hauled more house. It’s convenient. Yeah, we, we have used it more for hauling what’s what I’m looking for, like house supplies and that kind of stuff from the store and project. Oh, yeah, because we are doing our soffits.

[01:01:40] And or not gutters yet but soffits and fascia so we needed that for that so anyway that was nice he’s.

[01:01:47] Trying to justify it I absolutely did and you’ve used it I’m sorry go ahead no but I’m gonna say so I.

[01:01:52] Think we used it more for non-hobby related stuff than hobby stuff tripwise this year. But actually getting work on that and getting it kind of the way you guys have taken it, camping a couple times.

[01:02:03] Too right not camping in it but as well but you’ve taken it yeah which is not bring the golf cart rc.

[01:02:10] Specific, yeah, so, yeah, nice little fridge. We’ve used that more for not rc stuff than we have for rc stuff, just saying so. It’s not an rc trailer, okay. The other thing: you getting your waiver, oh, I mean, I think that was cool. That’s the first, you’re the first person I’ve signed off on a waiver, which I appreciate. That’s fitting, isn’t it? It oddly enough, kind of, yeah, and I just I think it’s so cool that now somebody else in our group, dave, has a turbine waiver for us to go fly together and all.

[01:02:43] That kind of stuff it’s a lot of fun we’ll talk in four years when the trucks paid off I was going to.

[01:02:48] Say dave got a new truck it takes however long it takes that’s right three and a half years from when.

[01:02:53] This comes out honestly. Tom’s been talking about a turbine for eight, for years, four, five years at least, and they’ve he’s had opportunities, but I’m the one that held him back and like, yeah, no, yeah, it’s.

[01:03:07] The woman that holds him back I would never have thought yes why are you looking at me hey I’m honest.

[01:03:12] And I’ll admit it was just not a good time at that moment no I get it but yeah really the only good.

[01:03:18] Time is right now for you guys yes yeah for you yeah but anyway dave it takes they’re out it takes.

[01:03:25] However long it’s right yolo just saying okay you only live once okay thank you sorry it took.

[01:03:33] Me a little bit it’s all right you got it I understand so shall we talk about flights yes who.

[01:03:41] Wants to go first crystal. So I really thought: I know, I know what was your goal. Well, I didn’t remember my goal. I thought it was four, but apparently it was. Maybe it was four. We can say four, if you want. I thought I had flown three times, but apparently it was only two. It seemed like four. Yeah, it seemed like four. I’m gonna say four. Two didn’t get marked. No, no, because it’s funny, it was. I remember this.

[01:04:07] Actually it was the beginning part of the year, I’m pretty sure you said you wanted to fly three flights this year. Maybe it was four, whatever, but you got two flights in and then I asked if you wanted to fly more and you said no, I want to save them for the end of the year, so I don’t do it all now. And that was like beginning. Yeah, january, your flights, it was like five degrees, but by the time this

[01:04:30] Comes out so she may have her the rest of her flights in well it’s funny because we were talking.

[01:04:35] About that today. Yeah, I told them because you could do it here. Let’s go now, let’s go now. Right, and I look outside and the, the limbs are bending over, almost touching the ground on the trees from the wind. It’s pretty windy, yeah, and I’m like no, she’s like: well, just give me a phone you.

[01:04:48] Don’t care about, I don’t care if I crash, I just want to fly. No, I don’t want to crash, but I mean, if it happens, it happens a for effort, just flying a kite. Does that count?

[01:05:05] I mean yeah it could still she could potentially still make it yeah because you do have.

[01:05:12] A couple months left. You could always do an addendum. Well, and technically I think you could probably percentage-wise got closer to your goal than I did. So way to go, honey. No, thank you. How many did you?

[01:05:24] Get. How about we want to talk about okay, okay. So my goal was to learn to fly, but I got sidetracked by our daughter’s wedding. That did take up a significant amount of my time. Well, that was your choice. It didn’t have to priority, right, right, that took up a lot. As so, when I’m just gonna say this right now, when this whole started, hannah said: I can do this myself, I don’t need a whole lot of your help, and

[01:05:56] Then, quickly, it became: I don’t know what I’m doing, I don’t know what I need, I don’t know what I’m doing, and so then it became, okay, let’s do this. And so one idea led to another, led to another, led to the whole basement looking like Hobby Lobby and, for a very long period of time, not the old cool Hobby Lobby with airplanes, by the way. No, this would be the floral section of Hobby Lobby. Literally, there was not. There was a pathway that Tom could take to his airplanes, and the rest were literal florals everywhere.

[01:06:32] And so that did take up a significant amount of time and hannah did promise to help, but she made one, she made one arrangement and said: I’m done, I’m good. Well, she helped, never said how much she, she did, she did, she did, and then it was consumed with bridal fittings. A couple of trips to ohio, a couple of trips to ohio, yeah, for his mom. So he

[01:06:57] Could help her get her wedding attire together and I’m just hearing lots of excuses being made.

[01:07:03] I don’t think basically what it boils down to is it was either always too hot yes that you didn’t.

[01:07:08] Want and or it was too far away you’re not going to eli or whatever yeah you want to be gone all day.

[01:07:13] Which I get. That’s yeah, okay. I think if you asked our daughter, she would say it was very well worthwhile. My time was worth. Oh, I’m not saying it wasn’t worthwhile, I am, yes, just so. Bottom line is bottom line. I did not fly at all anything. I know that’s okay, yeah, yeah, but I don’t remember what your goal was. Just to learn to fly, to fly, yeah, zero percent, zero percent. So was it?

[01:07:44] Yeah, okay, so it was two years ago that you went up to her. Yeah, I think that was when you went. I think that was two years ago was four for you and then, yeah, three was last year. Yeah, so I’m not going to.

[01:07:56] Make a commitment next year, because you never know what’s going to happen, right? I mean, you’ve hit your goals splendidly last five times. Wait a minute time out. I did meet my goal when I finished the plane that one year- that was last year- by the skin of my teeth. She did, I did finish. So, yeah, and how?

[01:08:19] How did that fly it flies Tom said it flies real good I’ve made it does fly nice it flies nice.

[01:08:26] Okay so who’s next dave tommy me I don’t care just somebody all right so my goal was 100 flights.

[01:08:36] I currently, as of this time warp episode, have 78 flights, so we’re so. You can still make it, it’s still doable, and I think I was in the same position last year where I was had to cram in at the end of the year, but we’re going to make it. I think out of those flights so far, I’ve had seven maidens and two crashes, which is exactly what I had last year was two crashes. Nice, both of them were identical with this high-speed destruction.

[01:09:09] Dave has a type- I haven’t you need a new theme. He goes all around for crashes. If I’m going to crash, damn it. I’m going to just make it. Do it, yeah, make it memorable. Current inventory is 51 aircraft. Last year was 52, so I am currently net negative one. Well done, I did not fly at all in february or april.

[01:09:36] I’m sure it was windy and wet, it just didn’t happen. Yep and then no excuse. But I’ve been, was having transportation issues starting in march, so no excuse, I’m going to give an excuse.

[01:09:52] I think that’s a valid. That’s fine. I understand, yeah, but I had the mustang so there’s kind of limits there. And then I finally got the wife’s car up and running. So I did have a little santa fe and so I was a little limited. Santa fe’s got some tires on it I didn’t want to travel very far with, so I was pretty much limited to local. But now we’ve got that problem squared away.

[01:10:17] As far as the airplane I flew the most this year was the mctwist. I have 15 flights on the mctwist this year. I can see that it was a good flying airplane and it’s small, it’s convenient. It went to with me a lot in the mustang because you can just sit in the back seat. Yep, followed by the ultra slow stick, had 11 flights. Both of those were on the list last year but they flip-flopped positions. Mctwist took over and then the fms super cub. I got seven flights on, so those

[01:10:51] Were the top three that I flew this year. Of all the flights I had this year I had 71 electric flights. I had two gas flights, same as last year. Dave’s spreadsheet is very detailed, yeah, and he did it all just now- and I had five glow flights, so I had more glow flights this year. Percentages are- and it actually adds up to 99 because of rounding- but 91 electric, two percent gas, exactly same as last year.

[01:11:21] And up to six percent glow this year nice well done and that’s what I’ve got yeah pretty sophisticated.

[01:11:30] Spreadsheet. You got there, dave, not hard to do. Well, my spreadsheet is not nearly as detailed, even if I had my correct spreadsheet in front of me, but I am sitting at 151 flights for the year, and the airplane that I have flown the most, believe it or not, is my umx ultrax. That thing is just so easy that last year as well, yeah, I just I can fly that thing in my front yard and I do so. 32 Flights on that one alone. Wow, what’s your next? Next most, the next most.

[01:12:02] Flown? Yeah, would be the fms kingfisher. I put a lot of flights on that at joe knoll and then I flew it a lot. I forget what january 1st this year we flew in the snow. Remember it was actually the or whatever day. I’ll give you the date here. Anyway, I fly that airplane a lot because, same reason, it’s pretty small, it’s convenient and it flies on a 3s 2200, so it behaves itself. I have a bunch of those. Next, after that is the. Is the 90 millimeter viper. January 11th: yeah, 16 flights on the 90.

[01:12:38] Millimeter viper. So that tells you how good that airplane flies, and it’s I. Technically, if I combine the 70 millimeter vipers, the old blue one and the orange one, that one is actually more than the 90 millimeter viper. So I guess you could conceivably say that the 70 millimeter viper I’ve flown more than the 90, but that’s two different airplanes. So they the numbers anyway. Yeah, so that’s my top three. So I’m sitting at 151, which I don’t remember setting a goal for this year, but I

[01:13:09] Think that was probably around that. So I’m pretty happy with the year overall. Yeah, I don’t remember if I had a goal either. I don’t know why I had 200 in my mind, but oh, I mean, I guess technically there’s still some time, but probably not for me. So that’s probably where I’ll, probably where I’ll end for the year, maybe, maybe plus five or so if I can get away and maybe fly the jet once or twice before I leave.

[01:13:36] Time will tell okay well I’ll do mine really quick because it’s very disappointing.

[01:13:44] Yeah, it is so my goal was 300 flights. I currently sit at 131, which is pathetic, but that’s okay. Total airplanes: I’m down to 60, nine maidens and six new ones and got rid of like 14. Is what I have on here and let’s see what else. Total of 60. I don’t know if I said that. I did just say that. And then my top three: slow ultra stick, the mb339 and the fms f18. Yeah, so last year I had 73 airplanes, this

[01:14:20] Year I’m down to 60, so that’s 13 less honey. Nice, yeah, yeah. So I forgot to tally my numbers. An improvement. So right now I’m at 34 flyable and then the. The numbers for the others have not changed, so it’s 34 plus another 12 in various stages of kits mostly. So what was? What was your tally last year? How many planes did you? I don’t remember. I’m net. I’m net minus. I’m because I sold a bunch. Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. Yeah, bought a lot because I’ve been putting jets together. Yeah,

[01:14:54] So from last year to this year I am down 337 flights ouch I flew a lot last year not this year.

[01:15:02] So yeah but that’s okay that’s really disappointing it is what it is so that’s our year in a nutshell.

[01:15:09] That was it yeah any goals for next year we’re just gonna let it go.

[01:15:16] Well, I’m gonna, okay. So two goals that I have just right off the top of my head: get the atom complete and flying. So I have two flyable jets. That would be, I guess, my first goal. And my second goal would be to fly more than I flew this year, even if it’s by one, even if it’s just by one. Okay, dave same.

[01:15:40] Oh same, oh, try to get another hundred. That seems to be where I tend to be able to do well, I mean, and get out and travel a little bit more realistically. You have a new, dependable vehicle.

[01:15:53] Now, yeah, that is capable of pulling the trailer and is also capable of pulling big airplanes, so I can see you meeting that goal and probably exceeding it by several. Like I said, want to try.

[01:16:03] To get out more yeah now I don’t have to rely on daniel all the time to go out and about yeah I guess.

[01:16:08] I guess actually that would be a third goal of mine visit more new airfields like decatur peoria.

[01:16:13] Things like that could just be an overall podcast goal though too yeah I kind of yeah because.

[01:16:18] That’ll be my thing too, okay, yeah, yeah, let’s just do it that way about you, Ron, going for 300 next year. Probably won’t hit it again, but who knows. Okay, it all depends if I can. Yeah, so aim high, yeah.

[01:16:29] Set high goals and fail to achieve them fail high crystal what about you two.

[01:16:37] Four to three to two okay and I’ll hit my goal that way right well not necessarily you haven’t up to this.

[01:16:47] I’m gonna go with learn to fly again okay I’ll try I’ll do my well we don’t have a wedding next year.

[01:16:52] Yeah, I will make more of an effort to not convince but offer opportunities to take you flying there. You go there, okay. Well, tommy, it’s good to see you again.
