[00:00:05] Hello everyone and welcome to the rc plane lab podcast i'm ron i'm tom and i'm dave and we are probably going to be a little bit late for releasing this week because much going on well yeah we have not been able to get in touch or get together to record until it's actually 5 46 friday night and we're supposed to release in an hour and 14 minutes challenge

[00:00:38] Accepted so really short episode we'll see how it goes but anyway if you're waiting around at seven o'clock for a new episode and that's not coming out that's why just be patient and you won't know that because this will be late or heard of this so moving on oh god i can so much going on this week was just really really busy yeah we were supposed to do it yesterday you canceled and then we tried to redo or we were going to do something on monday or tuesday but then we had stuff going on monday i had stuff going on tuesday wednesday was out so here we are here

[00:01:10] We are i've been free all week guys what's your problem you weren't free monday

[00:01:16] Dimmer dimmer dimmer dinner dimmer was wonderful dimmer was good that was a good time i i appreciated

[00:01:24] That that bob had put that together for us for me for you because you were going away dinner yeah so

[00:01:31] I appreciate that i had a good time it was nice good good food too so good to see some people

[00:01:36] That we hadn't seen for a while because it's been so windy we haven't been able to fly i know this wind has been nuts lately it's been windy it's windy again today so monday and tuesday the sustained

[00:01:48] Winds on both days was around 45 mile an hour sustained and then of course there were gusts at all time yeah and thank you for clearing that up making sure which of course means that there were gusts even greater than that higher yeah yeah yeah cause an accident down oh yeah an i-55 a huge dust cloud that had been stirred up by the winds from the farmer's field had obscured the visibility going across 55 and it caused a massive maybe you guys saw it in the news i don't know

[00:02:21] It was national news it made national news yeah it was like an 80 car completely or completely yeah pile up when you considered the cars and actually had a few folks killed in that unfortunately you you drove by there that day did i missed it you went down the same yeah i missed it

[00:02:36] By about 20 minutes i was on my way home when it happened and i was about probably well 20 miles ish south of where it happened and i when it happened yeah oh so it happened before you got

[00:02:51] By it yeah by it yeah so you were coming back north when it happened yeah really yeah so how'd you get

[00:02:57] Home lots and lots of side roads and detours and like so most of the folks that are listening aren't going to know but like so i came up north got off on the on i don't even know what exit that was it was way south of of even the the morrisonville exit had to go east because they wouldn't let anybody go west because of all the frontage roads and all that were closed off yeah so i had to go east and had to go up to taylorville and got on 48 at taylorville and went up to decatur taylorville

[00:03:31] And then came across yeah so you went wow way out of your way okay so then that tells me how you found

[00:03:36] Out about it they had stuff blocked off yeah so laurie had texted me are you okay well she said hey

[00:03:44] Because we had been communicating back and forth i was telling her where i was at and what i was

[00:03:49] Texting and driving no no it was before i left where i was leaving from gotcha now which was by the way you can say you went to the lego store yeah it was may the 4th celebration i'm in yeah i'm a lego geek i also like star wars so lego does star wars and whatever i can't laugh because

[00:04:06] I'm an adult that plays with toy airplanes well whatever so it's okay but yeah so i left the

[00:04:10] Lego store and and yes she was updating me as i went along and then once i got on got off the 255 interchange and hit 55 she said hey it looks like there's like a slowdown in traffic according to google maps you might want to try to find another way i was like okay cool so i got to about litchfield and then that's when i could see some ambulances and things like that whizzing past me it's like this is more than just a slowdown so then i when i got off i texted her i was like hey what's going on she's like oh yeah there's like this massive car pile up you probably need to find

[00:04:42] Another way home by then it was already they were already diverting traffic and but it was a huge deal all thanks to this crazy wind yeah yeah the wind was so bad i was able to

[00:04:53] Our break break room lunch room we were at lunch when all this was going down and we can see the helipad from one of the local hospitals and their helicopter took off obviously was headed that direction it looked like it was struggling a lot it circled around and came back and landed oh it didn't even yeah yeah so it was i can't imagine yeah trying to fly in that yeah it was

[00:05:14] It was it was nuts and then so that happened on monday may the 1st and then the winds were high again on tuesday may the 2nd and they closed 55 down again for the very same reason yeah it was closed it was probably 24 hours more precautionary no accident anymore no accidents on tuesday that we know of but yeah the same thing and people are trying to blame it on the farmers it's not the farmers fault it's just circumstances just all the wrong things the wrong time when i

[00:05:41] First heard it i thought there was an actual farmer out doing the field at that time and when i heard that then yeah yeah you think you should be smart enough not to do but i can tell you yeah i can tell

[00:05:52] You from driving on 55 when about the time frame that happened i didn't see any farmers out like honestly that would because most farmers have pretty decent common sense and they're going to see oh gosh i'm creating this cloud this is not cool so and they don't want all the dust in their tractors either yeah absolutely but yeah it's not it's not really anyone's fault it's just unfortunate accident yeah yeah it was crazy when so windy that's yeah that's what it's been around here

[00:06:20] Not flown me either but ron has well yeah yesterday there was no wind well i shouldn't say there was

[00:06:27] Very little yeah yesterday was a lot and i compared to monday and tuesday yesterday was awesome

[00:06:31] And we had one day last week too i don't remember what day it was there was a night like it was windy all day but when it started to kind of get dusky then dusky it just settled down i was like oh i have some time i need to go out so you flew so i was able to fly the ultra x 600 got a one two three four all four batteries through that nice and i went through an actual or four yeah four batteries on the the umx radian first time i flew that yeah how'd that fly

[00:07:03] It's so lazy really it's just it's a fun lazy dumb little airplane i would not have guessed that i would

[00:07:10] Have guessed that it would have been lively because it's so small no not at all it's got as3x

[00:07:16] On it so with the little bit of when when i say a little bit i mean maybe two or three mile an hour is all it was when i was out doing it it handled it well and it actually glides i'm not gonna say great but decently for what it is cool like i was expecting it to be a lot more of a of a drop when you cut the throttle but it was it wasn't all that bad good deal i know i was happy with that one cool i actually got to fly yesterday was able to fly the the erratics went through another

[00:07:49] Four batteries on that one and then i was able to get a couple batteries on the mini convergence oh that was the toledo that was one like i said i've i've seen those before i've wanted the big ones i didn't actually know they made a small one until i saw it in toledo and it's it's fun but i should have not flown it first here in my room to learn its idiosyncrasies yeah because so it hovers well

[00:08:20] It's got the three blades for hovering and stuff and then when you flip it to be airplane to airplane mode it takes the front two motors and slowly tilts them forward and then turns the back motor off obviously because it doesn't need it anymore so i didn't realize because i didn't read any instructions or anything that why would you do that why would we do that well because it's small so you don't need to right yeah probably should have but anyway so i didn't realize it had safe which i don't even know if they called it safe back then because this is quite old like a few

[00:08:53] Years old which really banks how much you can i'm sorry which really limits how much you can bank so i took off and it's faster than i thought it was going to be too so it was flying away from me and then i tried to bring it around and it just started going farther away than i wanted it to so i was like okay flip the next switch down three position switch and then it just started barrel rolling because i was still like locked trying to get it to turn yeah yeah trying to get

[00:09:25] It turned back to me so luckily i saved it and brought it back for some reason the thought never came to my mind to flip it back into hover mode hover yeah then it would have just stopped yeah yeah well but it's a fun airplane i have vertex is kind of like that yeah that's i probably should have that one oh that's really nice sorry yeah i'm allergies can i join you on your end of the table yeah no doubt about that is that better back away from the microphone or warn me and i'll mute

[00:09:56] You you'll be doing a lot of muting then push it away from me anywho i'm afraid it'll come off the table again it's a comedy of errors i remember that fell yeah oh but anyway so yes i i got some flights on that that was fun so we'll fly it more once the weather warms up and the wind dies down yeah

[00:10:21] You're gonna take it to journal don't know i mean we might have room for it i i don't know

[00:10:27] I'm still going over final yeah because i don't know where we'll fly it that's the other oh that's

[00:10:32] So small well so small you can probably fly it in the in our little camping space i don't know we'll

[00:10:38] See i don't know what the rules are for stuff like that so i don't either there's a lot like it's a wild west out there we'll see we'll figure it out it's going to be fun no matter what so somebody else can talk ads ads yes we have and it was brought up on discord somebody asked apparently we have ads now on our podcast yeah unbeknownst to us they just appeared out of nowhere but yeah listen to

[00:11:07] The ads thank you well we we don't have a lot of control over whether they're ads or what they

[00:11:15] Advertise on our no well we test well we might i just have not looked into it okay so there might

[00:11:22] Be yeah but we can tell you that if you want a completely ad-free experience patrons can

[00:11:30] Listen ad-free yeah we're going to start uploading the ad-free version yep on a patreon too so if

[00:11:37] You're bad yeah the ads bother you get on patreon become a patron of ours and no ads for you that sounds like a bad thing but that's a good thing easy peasy right yeah okay anyone else anyone ads are annoying i mean i'll be honest like i i hate them on youtube that people watch our stuff on youtube and they get bothered by ads it bothers me too so it's not just you guys

[00:12:01] So far they're not that bad i was just one in the middle and maybe one at the beginning but

[00:12:06] Yeah pretty easy to deal with then i suppose we'll see a lot of the podcasts i listen to have ads

[00:12:12] And they're not overly ridiculous so as long as they can keep it to where it's not overly ridiculous i don't know yeah yeah like the ones i don't like is when you're on youtube and like we don't obviously get anything from youtube but youtube now puts ads on everything yeah whether or not the person well it's not like we do anything on youtube anyway yeah we haven't put

[00:12:33] Anything out there in a while but nor will we since well you can still put stuff on youtube without me i could but you and dave are more than capable of recording stuff without me well can we though are you gonna be all butthurt no no because the show must go on right yeah and if you need content then go to the swap meet this weekend and have a good time without me so that's what brought that

[00:12:58] Whole thing up there's a swap meet this weekend that i think dave and i i'm going for sure i think

[00:13:02] Dave's gonna come like good grief haven't you had enough swap meets for the year no okay can you no that's why i'm so weird because i want to go too and i can't i use my swap meet money to pay

[00:13:15] The plates on my truck so that's not fun i know should have just not paid them well i forgot for

[00:13:23] Five days that's funny my oldest kid went like almost two years with expired plates on his car so

[00:13:30] Whatever wow yeah it's good until you get into an accident yeah yeah tell my kid that it's okay he

[00:13:37] Doesn't listen i was gonna say to me or the podcast that was good that was holy all right cool so some new airplanes or a new airplane and new radio out there yeah i i don't know how i feel about the nx20 yet so i'm super excited like i can't afford it and i'm not gonna buy it obviously right away but hopefully in about six years when somebody's letting that right away yeah oh for sure i will own one i mean eventually you think so like let's be honest i'm gonna be

[00:14:11] Honest i'm a luddite right like when it comes to technology i'm an old fuddy-duddy that i like my ix12 i like the way it performs once i can figure it the heck out and make it do what i wanted to do it's honestly the program is too much radio for me it really is like i don't need the whole android app i don't do the whole the making it talk and all those things i just want a radio that's fairly easy to program yes i need a lot of channels for some of the stuff we fly putting multiple servos with different channels mixing them all that

[00:14:44] Sort of stuff and having the expo and the epa and all that stuff i use all that and trims and mixes i but you can do that on a basic radio without having the cool android app and the and the wi-fi connectability and assigning pictures to the like that stuff is cool i'm not saying it's not cool but it's beyond it adds complexity to something that i don't want to be complex

[00:15:10] My dx9 does all that all the basics that you have to have yeah and the the only thing really not the

[00:15:17] Only thing but what appeals to me about the nx20 is it has everything i want has all the all the channels i want it has all that programming minus the slowdown of the android business like maybe it's faster maybe the processor's faster great i don't need a smartphone in my transmitter yeah i have like it took me to it took owning an ix12 for me to come to that to that sort of thought like the ix12 is a beautiful radio i love what it does but it's it's really more radio than what i need

[00:15:50] The nx20 even though it's more expensive than my ix12 was and hopefully in six years ten years whatever it's going to take for them to come down to where i can afford them i will i will own an x20 eventually because like i said i i don't need an iphone or an android phone in my transmitter

[00:16:11] I get it and i i will agree that the slowdown on the ix12 can be annoying disheartening extremely annoying but i i love everything it does i just wish it was faster i mean that's my only complaint is just the speed of booting up the speed of loading things sometimes yeah once it's on

[00:16:33] And going it's usually okay i will say also that i i do appreciate the touch screen when it works well see i don't you have mine does the weird you touch it and then you wait five minutes and then you it finally does what you're trying to execute that's still something like i

[00:16:50] Think you almost need to have a complete wipe and reinstall of the whole os on there like there's something that the person that had it before you or someone else has installed that's just slowing

[00:17:00] Things down i've i've been through i've watched youtube videos from horizon i've watched youtube videos from other users that have the ix12s on how they've sped theirs up i've done all of that to it and it always it works for a little while like it'll be fast for a while but it always seems to go

[00:17:15] Back then you have a setting or something turned on that needs to be turned off some auto update some again something weird i'm a luddite true so there you go i guess you're proving the point of you

[00:17:25] Exactly so an nx20 will i will own one eventually i'm really excited about it like i can't wait to to see them in people's hands and see how happy they are with it that they

[00:17:36] So all those channels and without the the only thing the only thing i don't remember saying is what kind of case does it come with oh i don't remember seeing anything about a case because the ix14 i love the idea of that radio but it comes with a janky little like just styrofoamy case oh i don't like the case i love the i like our hard cases yeah and that's what the ix20 comes with nice hard case that you can actually put in another yeah another radio in

[00:18:08] With it it's big enough for two yeah i don't i didn't i don't recall seeing if the nx20 comes with one but regardless i you will have one one day one one day when it becomes obsolete affordable and obsolete yes i'm looking forward to that no it's it like i said it'll be a good a good

[00:18:27] Transmitter i i think it's just the same thing as the other ones with more channels yeah it looks like they took the ix12 carcass yeah and just got rid of everything that was extra yeah and said the screen is bigger though which is odd same size as the ix12 or the sorry the ix20 though oh is it oh okay that's why i said it looks like it's the same carcass but it's not touchscreen

[00:18:48] It's not touchscreen which i i'm okay with with yeah me too yeah touchscreens and i don't get along

[00:18:53] Say i like touchscreen but i don't want the nx20 so yeah i want the ix20 which one of these days will happen but it will probably not be anytime soon because i'm in the same boat you are well you

[00:19:05] Have a other toy that you got that is more expensive than that your jet i'm talking about your jet yeah someday i will you want to talk about that you feel some kind of way about that

[00:19:17] No i just i wasn't quick enough i feel bad for you well it's no big deal i wasn't quick enough so i'm not going to make the first shipment so i'm going to be waiting a few months that's okay you

[00:19:27] Went to second shipment when they work out the bugs they find in the shipment one and here's the

[00:19:32] Other thing like so the first edf flight was maybe not as successful as you but but time to practice but now you will have time and you have another jet that you can practice with so you'll be more comfortable when the time comes to finally fly the big one yeah so that's maybe not

[00:19:52] A bad thing no i'm i'm i'm not complaining that it's going to take a while that's fine but i'm just i wish it was sooner because i'm excited for it yeah well that's i think that's normal that's

[00:20:03] All i'm saying yeah okay sure so yeah your radio purchase is going to be you're going to be holding off for a little while yes that's fine and they came out with another airplane too i don't

[00:20:16] Know if you saw that one the twin timber oh twin timber i don't know why that was that was a terrible like moving on to the next thought no in my mind i'm tired of listening to me talk about radios well no in my mind i'm thinking i don't have money for the radio well i see i should not buy airplanes but i i fail at that however well yeah you the twin timber is kind of a cool looking

[00:20:40] Airplane yeah another timber well it's not just another timber it's a twin that's what horizon

[00:20:45] Says yes i can tell this one apart from all the rest of them yeah exactly i like you got a point

[00:20:50] Because i don't i don't know the difference between any of them there was a lot that have been out and i i i don't have the history in my head to know what's what but there's a night timber timber

[00:20:59] X timber it feels to me turbo timber turbo timber x shiver me timber shiver me timber was one of them yeah yeah timber by kesha i think that was one too i don't know sorry pop music reference oh

[00:21:15] You're old i know i caught it but to me the timber like i know getting off the rails here twin timber cool okay but the timber to me feels like the modern foam version of the stick pretty much what i'm saying because there were so many scale like yeah there were so many different versions of sticks there was a the regular stick the low wing stick the sweet low stick the big stick the what i'm saying there's a lot of sticks and now stick in the mud and there's a lot of yeah now there's a lot of timbers shiver me timbers or twembers as the

[00:21:51] Case may be yeah so the new one is a twin i know and i just think it's cool and what i like about that though is it's like the motors are mounted high enough to where you're not worried about prop strikes yeah so i don't know why that even is something i would worry for like a bush flying plane you can smash

[00:22:07] It around a little bit more and not have that and i i like the bush type plane so you do and the big

[00:22:12] Wheels and this one has big wheels big wheels yeah so and it takes batteries that i already have

[00:22:17] Yeah so of all the timbers the twin probably interests me the most me too because it's different

[00:22:23] It's they had the night timber that i've seen a couple videos on and the night version is kind of cool but i don't know enough about it to be excited about it yeah i just like the night version well the lights are fun maybe there's going to be a night version of the twin night twimber a night twimber that'd be fun that would be kind of cool horizon yeah just throw some leds in there yeah i mean that's all it takes that's all they do right yeah just throw some leds in it

[00:22:49] Throw some leds in it add a hundred bucks and yeah make sure at least one of the leds doesn't work though you're still a little upset about not better at all oh yeah gentlemen all right so

[00:23:03] What's next which should we talk about oh speaking of sticks i've got to tell this story i'm

[00:23:09] Sorry is it too early to talk about the the swap meet you find no because what i was going to say

[00:23:15] Is let's talk about new airplanes when we went to the last swap meet okay that we actually went to after toledo yeah before now yes it was a swap meet you actually got to come with i did well i met you there but you still came with us okay i guess it took three vehicles to get it took three

[00:23:32] Vehicles to get the three of us there but yeah we we all met at the swap meet down in jeez

[00:23:38] I know my mic yeah columbia thank you yeah that's that's usually a good swap meet and it wasn't bad there was a lot of stuff there it was a lot smaller this year i was then last year i was for sure by that

[00:23:48] Yeah because last year they had the other room opened up well they had it open when i got there

[00:23:52] And then they closed it off closed it they had people that were set up they closed it before i

[00:23:57] Got there they had it was you were only there like 15 minutes before i was i know but they didn't have

[00:24:02] Enough people coming to set up there so the people that were over there they brought over to the main room and closed that partition off to make it a third smaller i mean i think that was about a third isn't it where the the partition is roughly probably so yeah well that's sad i know but

[00:24:18] Overall i was not disappointed i mean there was still stuff a lot of stuff there i bought an airplane you bought an airplane you bought an airplane i bought an airplane they bought two

[00:24:29] Airplanes so it was a package deal well i don't even want one of them

[00:24:36] So what i want to talk about like oh yeah so let's go back to you yeah sorry it's always about me no

[00:24:41] This actually i love this story it's it's kind of cool so go ahead and yeah so so i get there and

[00:24:46] You guys are already there which is fine i don't feel any kind of way about that you were late on your own accord not that's true but i walk in and like as soon as i walk in you pay your five bucks or ten bucks or whatever it was you walk in and there's a guy there right off the bat with the several tables he had a bunch of old cocks of plastic 4049 stuff laying up there and then this ugly looking 40 size stick laying up there and i it caught my attention as i walked by and i looked at it's like oh that's okay cool low wing stick

[00:25:21] And i thought of that or i thought of you when i first walked in and saw that too i was like oh

[00:25:26] What if tommy'd like that so i walked by it and i'm like oh that's for some reason it was just it was like a thorn in my brain like like a not a thorn what do i think oh splinter it's like what there's something about that stick that like is really interesting to me so i walk around i meet up with you and watch you buy your airplane and then and then i keep looking because you can the the venue is so small you can see everything from no matter everywhere yeah no matter where you're standing so i keep looking over and it's like man there's something about that

[00:25:58] Airplane that it's like either familiar or it's something really interesting to me like i it looked old it yeah it looked old vintage let's not say old let's say vintage right well there are synonyms well right old i guess is a synonym for vintage but anyway in this case there was something about it that just the colors just it just looked really familiar so finally after helping you carry out your airplane and i helped somebody else carry something out i think and anyway i

[00:26:29] Finally went and then i talked to the guy i said hey where did where did this airplane come like did you fly this or whatever just trying to make conversation trying to figure out where it came from he's like no i bought it he said like two weeks prior he bought it at some flea market market yeah i'm like well that's odd so then i'm looking at it and he's got the wing off of it and it's an upside down stick so an upside down stick is like like the old great plain sticks you could build them upside down and turn them into low wings without too much work honestly it was really

[00:27:02] Easy to do minimal yeah you just mount the gear ahead of the wing or if you were really fancy you could build gear blocks into the wings whatever but this one was done in the simple more simple way they just when i say they i mean i'm talking about mounted the the dubro fiberglass gear on the anyway and i'm looking at the on the on the fuselage instead of in the wing gotcha so it's farther they took the easy route is what i'm saying which is fairly common right they half ate it yeah half aid it sure i didn't after i wouldn't say that after i said half aid i don't want

[00:27:35] To confuse that with the well you just confused everybody now so what i meant was half butted it

[00:27:40] Half butted but like so speaking of butt but he had it displayed with the wing off but it was sitting on the gear so i happened i picked the airplane up and now i'm looking really closely i'm like man there's something about this airplane and i look i flip it over and i look inside the wing cradler and i'm like i see handwriting on some of the parts like the fuselage doublers where the wing saddle would go like assembly notes yeah i'm looking at them i'm like that's my handwriting oh now i remember and it dawned on me that i built that airplane when i was going to college down

[00:28:17] In that area and when and that's when it like that's when like this whole flood of like i don't know you call it emotional nostalgia just like flooded over me i'm like oh my gosh this airplane that i built back in college is at a swap meet so many years later it's just really really like it started making me wonder man what kind of journey has this airplane been on that is still in pretty good shape it's not all beat up or anything like it didn't really look like it had been although the fuse of the firewall is oil soaked yeah and i'm pretty sure i

[00:28:52] Didn't fly it enough to oil soak it in college anyway so it had been flown some i just find it absolutely amazing it still exists right most airplanes don't live that long not been recovered no has it's the yeah original ugly metallic green trans yellow and charcoal color scheme on it and then the the piece the resistance what i pissed the resistance cherry on top was this ugly mtv decal that i had stuck on the nose right behind the engine and i and i remember it i remember

[00:29:25] The sheet that that decal came it was made by autographics you probably remember them so funny but yeah i mean it and then it's like then i'm just standing i'm like oh my god and i'm thinking in my head i'm like i have to i have to buy this i have to i cannot leave this swap meet without this airplane and i go and i'm talking to dave like dave what do you think should i take this should i buy i don't know what i would do and then finally i just made up my mind like you gotta have it i was yeah i was not leaving that swap meet without it so 20 later i went home with that piece of nostalgia

[00:29:55] Nostalgia and so that piece of nostalgia the vintage piece of nostalgia yes vintage would have been

[00:30:02] Built so the yeah i was thinking about that to the best of my relax recollection i built that either in 90 or 91 wow yeah 32 ish years ago that's amazing it hasn't been crashed no it hasn't been just hang a rash to death no i mean there's a few little bumps and bruises on it but but like i could put a radio in it and an engine and it would i would be able to fly it right now well and that's in that

[00:30:28] Good of shape so that's an hour and 45 minutes two hours away from here yeah roughly so yeah it didn't

[00:30:36] Move too far yeah well i mean honestly yeah exactly yeah it's it's it's home now is not very far away from its original home i'm pretty sure it started off as a midwest kit that i had built upside down where did it start off so it wasn't here no no i built it in college down in cahokia

[00:30:57] So i would have purchased it there in that general oh so it's not moved very far at all it's in that

[00:31:02] St louis area it's been within 100 miles its entire life for over three decades right thanks ron

[00:31:11] I don't know what i'm gonna do with it i mean to be honest it's been such a long time ago i don't even remember if it flies good or not i mean i'm sure it does it's a stick none of them fly bad i don't think but i don't know what i'm gonna do with it i mean all i know is that i have this airplane that's 32-ish years old that i built in when i was a kid in college and you could tell too like i'm i didn't really look closely at it yet because we've been really busy since we got back but yeah looking at like the construction and the build quality it's not quite what i would

[00:31:45] Produce what you would do these days i'm so glad your color scheme eye has changed yeah that thing is just it is it is pretty ugly that almost looks like a real college student it's what you do now it's just gorgeous and but back then that color oh yeah it's it was probably covered with scraps

[00:32:04] From one of the other college students that i flew with probably yeah what i mean that's a

[00:32:10] Good way to cover your butt at this point i never made that decision well no i mean dave's probably

[00:32:16] Right it probably had more to do with the amount of money i had to buy covering at the time although back then covering wasn't as expensive as it is now but true a lot of things weren't as expensive but yeah just a fun story that i found a an airplane that i built 30 plus years ago at a swap meet

[00:32:32] You just never know what you're gonna find at a swap meet i wish you had more like a behind the

[00:32:37] Scene foot and a half gourd yeah yeah gold one at that yeah toledo yeah well hopefully we find

[00:32:46] Something good this weekend dave i hope you guys find something cool too and send me pictures i have

[00:32:51] Got to sell some stuff man well then go down for five bucks yeah tables were cheap yeah there was nothing do it i gotta get home and get this figured out well yeah because we would leave in let's see

[00:33:03] 12 hours or so oh my so much for sleeping in this weekend well it starts it starts at nine tomorrow and it's an hour and a half ish drive so that's not too bad and less for you because 7 30 yeah you're already by the interstate i have to drive to interstate what say interstate by the interstate i might have i don't know your sickness is wearing off on me so well sorry so what did you get dave at

[00:33:30] That good i got two umx planes one of them was a s-boc i can't remember the 232 or whatever that s-boc is 242 242 and a yak and i got the pair of them for 30 dollars nice a yak no that's the

[00:33:48] Su-26 su-26 su-26 su-cloi he said yak and i'm like why didn't i buy that i get them confused too

[00:33:54] The su-cloi and the yak they look so similar yeah i thought that was a yak when i first had i

[00:34:00] Counted that one this one up here that i'm pointing at that nobody can see me pointing to i counted that as a yak for i don't know how many years until i finally like started making my list and saw the box i was like that's not a yak what anyway the su-26 had some damage to it the

[00:34:17] Vertical fin was cracked off of it and the rudder was missing the lower half and it was just kind of hanging by some tape didn't really want that airplane but the package deal you you can't pass up two planes for 30 bucks it makes it 15 a piece and they all look like an attack both of them banged up a little bit the s-boc is bounced off of something but it's it's in really pretty good shape it is the older one without the as3x in it so i'm a little bummed about that but it's okay it should fly okay this little one flies great i'm just windy weather oh yeah i get it does limit

[00:34:49] Yeah it doesn't limit here but that's beside the point and i started playing around with the little su-26 trying to figure out what's how to repair that and i pulled it out of the box i got a real good look at it it wasn't just the fin was busted off somebody had repaired it with their own type of glue which had basically dissolved the entire rear end of the airplane oh that's the thing so i'm gonna have to manufacture the entire everything from the middle of the elevator back

[00:35:13] Oh that's unfortunate that's okay well that's hard it's so hard to find or to determine that

[00:35:19] Sort of stuff at a swap meet well i wasn't even really caring about this airplane that's true i mean if it is what it is actually my thought is i'm just gonna get it and make my own out of

[00:35:28] Foam board yeah you can do that too i thought that dig was at me by the way about not being able to see what you're buying at a swap meet no that was not a dig at you i knew this one

[00:35:38] Was fairly well damaged but didn't realize that it had been dissolved well some damage is easier

[00:35:45] To see than others oh now the smile's coming now he's got it because i know what you're getting

[00:35:49] Ready to say yeah so i ended up for the the umx beast that i thought i bought that well you bought it you don't think you bought it well i thought i bought an actual airplane that was able to be flown it has now seen its death by fire it is gone however i did it it did make a donation because i stole dave's idea and i actually cut the or i took the handle off of it and i put it on the umx or not umx the ultra x600 box so that now is

[00:36:21] Pretty much how it should have been designed for that box really needs a handle it does and mine has one freaking twenty dollar handle but every time i pick that up i'm gonna think that

[00:36:33] Beast and get po'd every time now but that's okay well you can't win them all it's sukhoi parts yeah i hope i don't ever need that well you have to fly it to to crash it so i flew it last year last year well it's been windy this year that's tiny that's true we've not had a lot

[00:36:50] Of good a lot of good that purchase unfortunately pushed my number over 50 oh over 50 wow nice i don't

[00:36:58] Even know where i am right now so put me at 51 51 you have to go to the swap meet this weekend and sell one or two or buy or buy or buy your four well you're over 50 now i mean now it doesn't matter what matters what's more yeah what's five more now at that point i gotta agree so yeah you should

[00:37:17] Definitely go this weekend it's just a number it's just it's just a number it is the amount of airplanes that's you don't need it to stop i know where you're going stop all right every freaking time we talk about airplanes you don't have to pull it up but i said i was going to get rid of some because i've bought you've bought more fine well yes and no so i i won't get too much into it but at okay so knowing i had what why are you you you i just like you're trying like i'm justifying

[00:37:51] I know i get it i i do trying to find the words yeah he's trying to find the words to justify

[00:37:57] So since i listened to you and tried to fly the f-18 and crashed it thank you i ended up they had a stinger 90 which i think that's at the swap meet the one that we all went to and bought an airplane from i think is that free wing is that i don't remember who that is that's very sorry yeah i forgot to award you is that i think it's free wing i don't know i don't honestly know i think it's probably either i think it's free wing oh yeah one of those two but anyway so that's my first edf of non e-flight origin i guess but it's 90 millimeter so i should hopefully be able to fly

[00:38:33] It at the field without any issues it's going to work much better on the grass i figured same battery so why not actually get something that'll use that battery yep and i feel like you got a pretty

[00:38:44] Good deal because you got a few spares with it too i got a lot of spare parts yeah yeah so all new

[00:38:48] Hopefully you don't need them it looks it looked like the guy had crashed one before and then just saved like what he could from the old one because there's there i think there's a gear sequencer in there there's the three gear that are still in it a couple servos look like they've just been torn out of an airplane like it was crashed and you tore it out i'm trying to think what else there was and that reminds me i got his card i need to get in touch with him because he said there was going to be he was going to send me some rear stabs because he had a set of the whole back end that he was going to get me but i have not heard from him yet so that was

[00:39:24] That one i had that and then there was a guy there that was also selling a g1 5s or i'm sorry a g1 6s 5000 battery it had been used so what's the difference between a g1 and g2 so g2 or better so

[00:39:42] We're talking about the e-flight batteries not e-flight spectrum batteries so spectrum has smart

[00:39:47] Batteries their g1 smart batteries the two biggest differences the g1s have the charging lead that comes off the normal one and then it also has the balance lead so you have to plug two things in that makes it sound terrible but i don't like that you don't have to start your charger you don't have to do anything you don't have to tell it what it is it knows what it is when you when you plug it in but you still have to connect a balance lead you still have to connect one extra lead okay the other difference is the g1 batteries are able to charge at 3c whereas the g2s

[00:40:23] Are 5c so that makes a big difference in how many amps you can throw out especially on the bigger batteries yeah so with the charger i have i can charge 15 amps on the g3 or the g1 wow or because it's three times or 3s or 3c charge my god i think i've had a it's been a long week but the g2s will charge up to 25 amps the 5s or the my god the 6s 5000 will charge up 25 amps

[00:40:56] 5 amps and that charge is very fast yeah i'm sure and they only warm at that rate does the battery get warm a little bit oh does okay not anything i mean like when when i touch it i can feel a little bit of warmth but nothing to make me go oh it's getting warm so it brings above room but i'm sure

[00:41:11] But yeah a little above ambient but at 25 that's crazy to me yeah and i like my 1c thanks yeah yeah

[00:41:19] Oh see that's the point i love it because they charge so fast i charged that the gen 2 which by the way the other thing gen 2 has that gen 1 doesn't is it's just one lead so it has built-in balancer and everything was is built into the actual battery to where when you charge it it charges through that lead but then it charges and balances so are all the g2s hard cased no okay so you can get them not hard case yeah well that's a pretty cool little feature most of my g2s are not

[00:41:50] Hard cased so it so it's really charge rate and whether you want to plug one thing or two things in

[00:41:56] That's the difference that's the the biggest difference and the g2 are more expensive obviously right but you might have to plug in one extra thing yeah see you mock me but it's so worth it to

[00:42:06] Me i'll pay extra to not have to plug this second thing in i okay so extra for a battery with less

[00:42:14] Stuff on it i like i'm just teasing the ease of use i like not to think about things and if i can take one more thing off my plate that is a i don't want to say it's getting in the way of flying because it's not but one less roadblock to getting to where i want to go of just a simple plug the battery in and be done to where it charges in less than 20 minutes yeah as opposed to like i said the last time i charged my 4s 5200 huvu or i think is who who makes that one it was almost two hours by the

[00:42:48] Time it was balanced yeah so makes a big difference yeah and i'm a fan of them so now i have two batteries by the way for the three minute flights on these edfs but it'll be worth it in the long

[00:43:02] Run i think yeah it'll it'll definitely be a tool to help you prepare for the big one the big one and

[00:43:09] Then the other thing i got that very ironic i just picked up is the e-flight f-16 the 80 millimeter brand new i haven't flown it yet nobody's flown it yet it's been crashed though well

[00:43:23] That's the part that is funny it's funny to you so i brought it home it was it was put together yeah i brought it home took it out of my trunk and i set it down here in my basement set it on the floor and i looked at it i was like i like that and i walked away you came over tonight and you're like oh i want to see it so you come and you pick it up and i immediately proceed to

[00:43:48] Drop it on the floor because the wing is not bolted together the wing slid off and the fuselage slid off the wing and right onto the floor because i had made a mistake of assuming i thought it was assembled like with the bolts in the wing and i could handle it somewhat safely without the wing

[00:44:06] Person slide off no ron set me up for failure i did not set you up as i said i have not touched that i have not looked at it i have not done anything to that airplane other than carry it

[00:44:17] In and sit it on the ground well now it's pre-crashed and broke off the wingtip missile rail but that can

[00:44:22] Be glued back up i know like the little pieces it's not going to hold on well i know and it's my fault

[00:44:29] But it's really your fault for setting me up and i'm going to blame you forever you can blame me

[00:44:33] Forever but i'm not taking blame for that it's your fault i don't think it is did i tell you pick

[00:44:37] It up i don't know what do you guys think if he set me up just say he set me up and tell me on discord that'll make me feel so much better but why would they lie well they're not gonna lie they're gonna take my side because who displays an airplane complete without the wing bolts in it no one that's the tail bolted on or oh yeah that's the other thing the vertical is just sitting

[00:44:56] On it as soon as i flipped it over it fell off as funny thing though as you put the pieces back together and set it down on the ground i took the the canopy off and the wing bolts are sitting right

[00:45:10] In oh yeah they're right inside the fuselage right there where you would not expect them to be where i would expect them to be would be an in the wing but as stated brand new never flown pre-crashed now pre-dropped well by you it's broken so it's crash it is wait a minute you said because i said you didn't crash the erratics and you said you did because you broke it so if it's broken it was crashed there's a difference in what broke

[00:45:37] Like with the erratics it actually broke the did we tell people i don't think we talked about me crashing the erratics i think we mentioned it i don't think i even know about the erratics being

[00:45:45] Crashed you were there you were there erratics yeah yeah a little flat crystal was out taking pictures of him while he was flying it for the article he wrote yeah yeah yeah what was i not supposed to say that i don't know oh it's fine move on well can i talk about it then since is it since i just let the cat out of the bag ron wrote an article a review of the erratics and it's going to appear in model aviation i think that's exciting you should tell people well when it's out maybe i

[00:46:16] Would well what does it matter whether it's out or not because it's not out it will be in july apparently so well that's what the ama told you anyway so i crashed it when i was doing i just i

[00:46:28] Wasn't going to bring that up because it's not finished i mean i guess it's finalized but it's not

[00:46:33] Out does that anyway i would be really the looks i am getting i would be excited about you should be excited because it's it's really cool i read what you wrote and it's very good i'm looking forward to the finished product i think it's very exciting you just got a cat that came up and sat on

[00:46:50] Your lap sat on my lap so anyway we i had to get pictures taking or taken of that and stuff and so it was very windy but that was the last day that i had to make the deadline and it was supposed to get windier you were feeling the pressure i had to get it done and i was trying to get a little bit lower so chrystal could take a couple other pictures of it and the wind took it and i was just too low to recover yeah no big deal it wasn't broken broken like it glued back together

[00:47:20] And i just had to tape the aileron back on so it's got blender on it now okay i was out there for

[00:47:26] That i just didn't realize it had actually been wrecked i was messing with the f-105 so yeah i wasn't

[00:47:30] Paying attention what you were up to yep that's all i did i've flown it it's been put back together it doesn't fly as well as it did before really well i think it was windy when i was trying to do it so i need to i need to get it out again it's the wonders of foam yeah but i mean like i said it's anyway where were we i got so confused you were talking about the stinger 90 because you bought that at the swap oh you you we were talking about you wrecking my f-16 oh yes yes so that we crashed f-16 and that's what brought up the crash on the erratic that's right but anyway so

[00:48:02] Yeah that was not a very good day for me crashing two airplanes the only two airplanes i brought well

[00:48:08] And i still take full responsibility for the f-18 crash as stated before we're not going to get into

[00:48:14] It you should not because i am an adult so i would not worry about that at all yes that cat does like

[00:48:20] To just claw into you you can kick her down so far i feel like if i try to kick her off my lap retrieval claw where she's sitting and where she's sitting i don't want claws

[00:48:32] She's sitting in my lap everybody just in case you're wondering well nowhere do i want claws to be honest well right so especially there especially there oh she's okay anyway before we move on i have a couple things i wanted to thank really quick i wanted to thank gary for sending us an engine oh yeah we were looking at that today this is the first time we've all had a chance to sit down yeah and look at it i don't know what it is it's apparently an old so gary gilbert if anybody listened to the episode way back when when he was on what oh yes the cat licks you too i mean

[00:49:06] Wonderful like i said push her down well i'm afraid if i anyway go ahead gary thank you for the engine we've looked it over and i determined that it is a 61 and a half cc yeah it's got that etched on the side big motor yeah it's not a small one that's for sure not sure what we're going to put that on but someday we will hopefully put it on us at least run it put it on a big oh a giant stick would be

[00:49:30] Perfect for that say put it on the giant telemaster i already got a motor for the giant telemaster

[00:49:35] Already has an engine on it now do you want the cat down no it's fine you look so i'm mauled over here i know you look so uncomfortable like the tiger king or something -huh but anyway so yes gary thank you very much for sending it to us we got it we appreciate it and we will put it to use

[00:49:53] Some at some point yeah yeah i think a big stick would be perfect for that actually or a giant another giant telemaster that's a good idea if we could find another 12-foot telemaster that'd be or plans or something like that okay see she's okay you just get her down here we go just fine

[00:50:08] You're good anyway it's better speaking of 12-foot telemasters giant telemasters whatever you are tommy you are finishing mine i am and i offered i i don't know how i feel about this like i will be happy to have it done yeah but i did not want to do it like i was to the point where i just there was so much other things going on so much stuff that i needed to do the cat's bag but anyway it was just not high on my list of things to do and you offered i did to finish it for me

[00:50:40] And you said yes please i said yes please and then it's like this is i just you're uncomfortable i feel some sort of way because i've never had anybody work on a plane for me before that i can

[00:50:49] Remember and i'm just going to assume that it's not because you question my building skills no not

[00:50:54] At all no i think you will do oh that reminds me i didn't build or i didn't get the the battery holder made for you oh well i'll have to try to finish it next week then that's fine anyway no it has nothing to do with your building skills it just has to do with you looking down on me for not doing my own stuff or me looking down on me for not doing my own stuff well if you think i'm judging you you're right i know i'm just teasing i see the eyes all the time that's why i think i can't say

[00:51:19] Anything because i haven't produced anything lately either maybe that's why i didn't want to do it

[00:51:23] Because i knew with a plane that big you would see everything i did and you'd be like oh you did that i would have done it the cat's back isn't she wow we'll just deal with it for now yeah i'm dealing with it so anyway yes you will have the telemaster finished for me sometime or close enough to where i will finish it before you leave and yeah the goal get it back the goal

[00:51:42] Is to get it to the point where you can at least run it and then eventually fly it yeah when i hand it back to you that's that's the goal we'll see because we got joe and all i know between and then i'll have i'll have maybe a week to work on it between then and the time i leave so that's okay

[00:51:59] Dave we have a swap meet coming up we get to go to and think of all the fun you guys are going to have like when i'm not having the fun you guys are having yeah don't feel too bad no but missing it

[00:52:12] Then you guys have such a blast and i'm just gonna be doing dave stuff

[00:52:18] Don't be well hopefully you'll be flying at home hopefully the weather's decent enough here you

[00:52:21] Can fly here hopefully hopefully it's supposed to be windy and rainy there by the way it's finally close enough to get the the 10 day forecast to look perfect it's supposed to be high 70s low 80s which is that's really is perfect yeah but then like 10 to 15 up to 20 mile an hour winds on some

[00:52:37] Yeah 20s 10 to 15 with the stick whatever bring it but the foamies yeah well there's always morning but we're gonna so we're gonna it's true that's true yeah when the sun is low it's usually a little bit better but we've decided to take the the trash can telemaster yeah so we're gonna hopefully get that all fixed up and and fly in there so we and that can handle that can that airplane can handle

[00:53:05] Some wind yeah so we'll have the trash can telemaster we'll have oh boy now i'm trying to think what i'm taking so i'm not sure i'm thinking about taking the 600 millimeter ultrax thinking about taking the umx ultrax which i probably will because that's just you have to take that it's so

[00:53:21] Small it takes up no space and it's so much fun to fly yeah just not confuse it for a pizza yeah and then maybe we can have an ultrax dive bomb contest while we're there and you can lose again

[00:53:33] That'd be awesome anyway i bought more props i did too by the way so hey by the way i still have

[00:53:42] The two props that mine came with so i also ron is giving me the finger i don't know what you're

[00:53:47] Talking about so anyway my i ended up buying a new body for the ultrax too it's 35 bucks how could you not do it just swap everything over half the price of a new airplane mine less than that they're 130 bucks i was teasing but they're yeah so i'm just gonna stop all that over because the bottom of that one is kind of dirty a little muddy i mean it held up other than that though

[00:54:13] I mean really the airplane itself is in good shape like really what is the point of doing all of this flying and stuff like that what for fun right yep and we had so much fun laughing at you

[00:54:23] Laughing at me i had fun laughing at me too so that makes it okay and this yeah the sound they make

[00:54:29] When it hits like nearly flat at wide open yeah that was awesome well i'm hoping it won't happen again i almost dropped my transmitter i was laughing so hard you were so happy about all i was happy

[00:54:42] Laughing at you so i'm taking that one okay now that we're back to not making fun of me and then like i said the twin otter and then since i have another one i have officially unretired

[00:54:58] Yes the shiny it has come out of retirement yeah unretired didn't sound right to me but no longer a nightlight yeah no it's no longer it's not hanging over there yeah i'm really excited about it because apparently there's a lot of night flying going on at joe knall that was the cat the tail just whipping the microphone into my face and so that was fun it didn't knock it off

[00:55:22] So we're good it's still holding on but what so my we've talked before about how terrible my memory is so earlier this week is when i got online and i ordered the the replacement body the shell the airframe whatever you want to call it for the the ultrax and then i also had made the decision that i'm taking the shiny with me well the shiny had a dean's end on it i don't use dean's anymore because everything is the ic3s for that one right so i got on and i ordered a pack i think it was a

[00:55:55] Two pack yeah i think that was a two pack of airplane end ic3 connectors and so i got them and i came downstairs to put them on and sitting next to my my soldering iron i had forgotten that i bought a 25 pack of the ic3 connectors for the airplane side already i can't

[00:56:25] Tell you how many times i've done the exact same thing yeah but that's expensive mistake well you're

[00:56:30] Gonna use them i will use them that's true but the other thing by the way that i found out and i i don't want to say this for sure because i might have made a mistake or not looked right but the ic2 and the ec2 are not compatible well that's convenient because when i was that so i i the that mini convergence that had the is it the jst what's the small red connector small red ones jst that had the jst connector on it and i knew i didn't have any batteries that had that connector on it that i would

[00:57:02] Use for that i wanted to use the 3s850 that had the ic2 on them the g2 batteries so i went ahead and got i'm trying to think from one of the vendors there i got a jst connector to go to ec2 i thought that would be perfect however they didn't have it to where it was directly compatible i had to go from what was in the middle i think it was albuquerque yeah yeah pretty much because it was two two adapters i had to use and i had the xt60s on it oh okay and

[00:57:36] There's not a lot of room in that fuselage anyway for all that but i wanted to see if it worked in all that before i went through the hassle of changing out the connector so long story short i tried to hook that up the ec2 to the ic2 and they're not compatible they did not go together yeah the ecs like the ec5s ec3s they're they're all backwards compatible really i don't know if i was doing something wrong or or what but on the ic2s they were not okay so i had to buy a pack of ic2 also on the airplane side which they don't have those in two packs they have those in five packs so i have

[00:58:12] A five pack of those that i've used one out of and i don't i mean i don't think i'm gonna have another airplane small enough for them but you never know yeah you're going to a swap meet this

[00:58:21] Weekend so you never know you never know what you're going to find that's right you might find

[00:58:25] An airplane you build 30 years oh wait a minute i was barely alive 30 years ago okay that's not true in 90 i would have been nine David's shaking his head i was married were you really 91 oh that's close enough yeah i remember the air shows in 91 i don't know why i like that would have been the time frame that we had the air

[00:58:50] Shows here so what else you're taking i think that's it so the shiny i think i talked about all the airplanes okay yeah yeah and i'm just going to take the stick on floats we'll load the trash can telemaster and then i'm gonna take my electro street yes i can't do that and then i will throw my i'll probably throw my ultrax in there somewhere too just because it takes up no you got to take an ultrax i mean there's plenty of room yeah so i'm yeah excited i got new golf cart batteries yes you got a just like it was right there describe it to me shelf oh a shelf on the

[00:59:30] Front of the golf cart oh okay like a basket i don't know if i'd call it a basket i'm not sure i would call it a shelf either well tray there you go maybe a tray storage unit storage tray bought one

[00:59:41] Of those for the front so that'll we can put stuff in there when we drive around yeah ended up getting the armrests for the rear seat that folds out if we need to have it folded out or if not we can sit on it to watch things so yeah i mean i think we're in pretty good shape i'm excited yep

[01:00:00] So i was just thinking about it this will be the last episode

[01:00:05] Oh yeah it will from here that i do with you guys for a while oh my goodness it is you're gonna be gone yeah well unless we unless we do one at joe

[01:00:17] Null and you publish that while i'm gone well we'll probably record something there because i'm

[01:00:21] Planning on taking stuff but they won't be with us it's fine go for it guys i need a vacation

[01:00:26] A vacation from us for sure yeah that's what he's trying to say he's got to build up like he's got to

[01:00:31] Rest so he can come at it full speed ahead when you're gone yeah and we this is gonna be tough to do

[01:00:37] It actually it is like i don't know i'm so used to just interjecting as needed but not actually having a conversation well it'd be mostly ron talking why i hope not because ron talks a lot i don't talk a lot our listenership is going to plummet i know it's just going to go down to

[01:00:56] Nothing yeah so but that's okay we'll be down from five to three yeah all five of our listeners

[01:01:03] Will have left and we will have gained two oh you guys are terrible no we do we do appreciate aprisionate god what is our problem well it's just ron and i dave hasn't had any issues with speech tonight yeah i know well you got to speak first i just want to say like real quick i do appreciate our listeners that it's it's they are great it's humbling actually when you when you look up the numbers of downloads to me that is just crazy like the amount of people that download

[01:01:33] Go out of their way get on a podcast app download our podcast and then actually listen to these three goofy guys yeah babble on about who knows what thanks for everyone that listens i appreciate

[01:01:44] It about toy airplane about toy airplane adult men talking about toy airplanes yeah so before we i'm

[01:01:51] Assuming you're getting ready to wrap it up well i mean i'm because we're about that time and we need to publish we've got like 10 minutes well that ain't gonna happen well just real quick i just want i forgot what i was gonna say oh boy it did it just totally it's kind of hitting you yeah

[01:02:06] Yeah i you were totally lost talking about the listeners and then i want to say something you were like building up you were like i was everybody listen to me i am gonna talk anything to do with you're gonna be not recording with us for a while you're gonna be well i mean i was gonna say something

[01:02:23] About that but that's not what my train of thought was but yeah i i will miss the the podcast for the for the few months that i'm not going to be here but i know you guys will carry on just fine without me so i'm gonna ask the listeners for a little help maybe they can email us or contact us via the website for some content like if you want to hear these two yahoos

[01:02:49] Talk about stuff in my absence hit them up i don't plan on doing anything grandiose while you're

[01:02:56] Gone oh that disappoints me a little bit you should do something really cool without me like what i

[01:03:02] Don't know i've seen how upset you get with us we just go down to a swap meet okay so can i be honest

[01:03:08] I would hope that you're always honest mostly that's an act like i really i don't want you to

[01:03:13] Not do fun things just because i can't do them i understand okay like i i i wasn't planning on like quitting this no i know for a while or anything like that but i understand you're playing it up a little bit and that's cool like but honestly if the tables were turned i would be a little upset if

[01:03:29] I had to work and i didn't get well i am upset that i have to work on a weekend not because i'm missing a swami but just in general that i have to work on a weekend but that's which in turn makes

[01:03:39] You miss a swap that's the nature of my employment so yeah you've dealt with it for a long time so

[01:03:44] It's not anything new but i do appreciate all the listeners and like i said if you want to help these two yahoos out in my absence yeah hit them up and send them some questions or

[01:03:55] Just recommendations whatever will you still have access to your email when you're gone i'm pretty sure i will like i'm not i'm not going out into the middle of nowhere nowhere so i'm anticipating that i'll still be up on my discord i'm hoping i'm hoping i'll still be up on on my email and hopefully i mean i don't know we'll have to see what the connection speed and all that kind of stuff is like there maybe at some point i might even be able to call maybe do a call in or something yeah maybe but yeah i imagine i imagine the connectivity there will be pretty good cool so

[01:04:30] Maybe even better like maybe maybe better mine no no what i was gonna say was maybe even there i'll be able to do some of the podcast stuff at work like you get to do sometimes like when i say podcast work i mean like looking up stuff and getting on the i don't ever do that what are you

[01:04:46] Talking about anyway yeah i had a slow day at work today too so yeah well i'll miss everybody but i

[01:04:55] Don't think that it'll be a complete blackout i'm i'm pretty sure i'll be able to communicate well good

[01:05:00] Deal so roving field reporter hey there we go and i'm actually so funny story i'm actually taking

[01:05:06] Planning on taking my ultrax with me on this trip so i'm hoping that i can at least fly something while i'm there that's a good one for that yeah and it's small enough it'll fit in that ginormous bag that i've got to pack and in the box i feel like it'll be protected well enough you get smashed just 35 for a new one well right and then and then i could do like i did last time i was at this particular location when it's time to come home i just pack it all up in a big box mail that home and then take six months to get back well what are you taking for a transmitter

[01:05:39] I'm gonna take my my only transmitter my x12 i wouldn't do that why it'll be with me at all times

[01:05:45] But i won't check it you he was talking about sending it home that's going to take a long time just take like a i have like what do we have like a five or i have a dx6 you can even take well i could take my dx8 i guess well but you use that also seriously if you want to have a dx6 you can take it's an old one but it's going to work fine it has just regular batteries double-a batteries oh my radio will be fine okay as long as they let me through the terminal with it which

[01:06:11] I'm not going through regular commercial terminals yeah it should be okay okay well anyway

[01:06:17] Anything else are we gonna no that's this one up and put a bow on it that's it we'll tie this one

[01:06:22] Up and this will be and not yeah the last one with all three of you together for all three of us together for at least face to face yeah i'm gonna joe no it's gonna be so much fun i can't wait

[01:06:33] Sorry dave you're missing can't wait for the swap meet too oh i need to talk to terry see if we can

[01:06:39] Figure something out yeah yeah next year man we're hitting it all i'm just telling you right now save your leave why sure save your leave i was gonna say doing everything dave is going to be the one that

[01:06:52] Yeah i accumulate really slowly yeah because i have really good benefits i just collect leave on

[01:06:59] Slow rate slow rate yeah well i think laurie does too she's on the same plan i think well good then

[01:07:04] She won't be worried about not having the same time off as you do now when i was over at the hospital

[01:07:10] I collected leave like there was no tomorrow i think i was two years i had like 12 weeks of leave oh my wow so you made a weird face when i said i didn't know what you were saying like if you

[01:07:23] Have more time off than she does -huh then she's not going to be oh you're taking all this time off

[01:07:30] When you should be doing it with me kind of thing she never gets mad at me for taking time off

[01:07:34] Well i get it that's that was a bad attempt at a joke like crystal now she has like half the time off that i get so like the next week of going to joe and all isn't something where it's i'm either going to do this or spend time with you going somewhere else does that make sense sure whatever not stuff we even need to be talking about in here but dave's pointing at his watch you need to wrap

[01:07:58] It up ron well i'm finished oh he's finished all right yeah oh yeah i don't want it to end yeah

[01:08:09] We could keep going for another hour easily easily probably i don't want to we have stuff to prepare

[01:08:14] Yes we have to get ready for jonah yep okay would you like to take us out tommy for your last time

[01:08:21] Oh yeah thanks everyone for listening i'm tom i'm dave and i'm ron that's just weird
