[00:02:54] Him back and said hey i can't really find exactly what you're looking for maybe is there a different name am i calling it something wrong he's like what don't worry about it he said i will send you a couple of them just to say thanks for the show and all you guys do so i alvin thank you very much for that very very generous and i was going to say he also sent something for you tom that you

[00:03:47] Weekend hopefully will include getting this jet all together and all done and yeah again and ready for a first you installed the synapse yes i am in the middle of installing the synapse you are stealing thunder i'm sorry so that was the other thing i've got the fuel tank out obviously because i didn't have a clunk to put in it since we had our issue last time so that is all torn apart and i have

[00:04:17] Replaced the receiver got the synapse installed and it is what crooked you installed it crooked i drilled the holes obviously crooked but i thought they were straight when i drilled them with my pin vise and perhaps it will get it will get moved actually i'm not gonna say perhaps because it it does annoy me i i didn't have a ton of time to do it i was kind of in a hurry because i wanted to see what this pretty new device piece of art was going to look like inside of it really i mean the

[00:04:53] Synapse i mean for what you paid for it i guess you could you could spend that on a piece of artwork

[00:04:58] I suppose no i mean seriously look at the the container that this electronic device is in the synapse thing it looked it's like gunmetal gray it really looks good and honestly oh this sounds stupid but same with the with the receiver once i peeled the protective film off of it i was like

[00:05:15] This is kind of sexy i like this thing this is so cool so yeah i don't ever pull the protective film

[00:05:22] Off no i leave it on that's just well i did at first and then i realized it was protective film i kind of peeled it back a little i was like oh this is shiny shiny objects i leave it on because i

[00:05:37] Get a new product twice when i first get it yeah and then after it all gets messed up and peel it off and oh it's a brand new one yeah yeah i got a new transmitter just the other day

[00:05:47] Did you finally i finally took it off my ix12 i think mine's still on but it's got a good size crease in it it's probably time to come off yeah then you got a new transmitter yeah see i don't

[00:05:58] Think that's how it works gentlemen oh resale value goes way up when they're shiny like that sure it

[00:06:03] Does i mean it's called a protective film if it's not on there then it's not protecting anything so

[00:06:12] Yes but that's usually for shipment and stuff until the end user gets it correct i suppose yeah like if you buy a tv do you peel the protective film that's on the screen of course you do see you don't wait for two years and then pull it off and go look a new tv no i don't but i honestly i

[00:06:34] Can't remember the last time i bought a new tv so maybe i did leave it on i don't know i'll go home

[00:06:39] And check well i wouldn't know either because i haven't bought a new tv for quite a while but i did one or win one last year at work which is how i know because that one's hanging up right there and i had to hang it nice any whoozle we also have a listener survey oh yeah v3 we haven't maybe we did bring it up it feels like we haven't brought it up we talked about it oh i know we've talked about it but i don't remember if we said anything last episode long story short if you haven't taken it yet go take it we do appreciate the feedback we've got a lot of good feedback we do and it's very

[00:08:17] Just because i also at the end of the year when we do the count exactly not planning on buying new

[00:08:22] Airplanes but that one got me yeah it is cool looking it's like yeah i i can't feasibly spend that much money for the big one but i would definitely look at it for the little one yeah that's my thought

[00:08:32] The micro yeah not umx not umx just the emerald mx yeah but seriously like i i was going back and forth like it came out i was excited and i didn't buy it i was like okay i can handle this see i'm i'm fine i don't need this airplane i'm not have fomo fear of missing out and it just took me a minute to realize what you said and so i i made the mistake of looking at it again on the website

[00:09:07] And then i was like for a second look well that was that was dumb this it's not expensive i mean then you start justifying in your mind oh yeah and then you're like that's that's not that's not bad it says in stock oh i wonder if i order it now if i'll have it by the weekend oh what the heck let's do it so that was the conversation all that i had in my mind yeah just in my head without either of us there to talk you out of it i know right and then unfortunately i ordered it last 12 a week ago and didn't show up friday which is fine didn't show up

[00:09:43] Saturday which that's fine didn't get any shipping information or anything else so i emailed them and found out that it's gonna be either late march or late april i'm sorry that's okay it actually works out fine because better flying weather i have other things i need to be worried

[00:10:00] About before i do any of that yeah well i'm excited for you i'm excited for i mean i'm not gonna probably not gonna buy one but well i have one you don't have to so you'll still be able to fly it right i mean yeah i mean i figure and i hate that i like that size of air i know i really do but it's it's so convenient that's yeah and i just yeah we already talked about you have a battery for that already

[00:10:26] Right yeah it's the same one as the umx so timber ever whatever it is yeah about timber or ever level

[00:10:32] Whatever so i stroked out turbo timber evolution that's it i'm concerned dave it's getting a little weird yeah you need to check for radon gas or something something down here i'm tired i haven't

[00:10:57] They're on a roll yeah they are what do you think of this one well first off what is it first off i can read it if you want because i have in front of me in this other piece i mean i don't have it in front of me so go ahead so it is a decathlon the rgj rj rj rjg version one point new

[00:11:17] Oh my gosh 1.2 meter here let me read that what there just take that i'm done stroke over there yeah so 1.2 meter bind and fly basic with as3x and save select 269.99 i honestly think that's not bad and like so it's got nice metal gear servos in it yeah it's a good looking airplane i really really like the trim scheme and what's in the box besides the airplane they're going to offer it two ways right there'll be a bind and fly and a plug and play the bind and fly has

[00:11:49] Got pretty much everything it's bind and fly and fly yeah so for 20 more dollars so the the the plug and play is 20 bucks cheaper so for 20 dollars you get the as3x and safe select receiver which is that's a heck of a good deal to be for 20 dollars i think that's yeah so yeah spectrum brushless outrunner it's not avian though i was i was surprised that i didn't see an avian brushless motor oh it's not i didn't know that i think it's an avian speed control but it doesn't say so i'm

[00:12:19] Maybe that's just an omission on their part but i thought that was odd when i read that anyway yeah the avian speed controller digital metal gear now i'm struck see digital metal geared servos and yeah it's got the ar631 in it i really like it like if if i was gonna buy like who knows what if i is going to come out with next right that that all would that

[00:12:45] Sws timber looks really good to me i love that it's a little pricey for me right now right so it's like right now of all the stuff that they've come out with recently that the decathlon to me is kind of it's kind of floating up to the top for me but there's one thing i really i kind of don't like about it and this is the same thing i got and it's it can be fixed but the gray windows the windows

[00:13:10] Those are awful yeah i don't i don't i don't like black or dark gray yeah but that silver is just gray or silver or whatever that is yeah it makes it and i saw it coming up decathlon yeah it's cool and i

[00:13:26] Saw that it's like now listen don't be don't beat me up for what i'm getting ready to say please i but the gray windows to me make it look like a toy i know these are toy airplanes i get it i know that they are but what i'm saying it makes it look like a like something you'd find a cheap import

[00:13:46] Yeah so honestly like you think darker gray black or black would do it for you black or very dark gray now why are you saying that yet you told me coloring for windows on the telemaster

[00:13:59] Should be gray here's why because this is a scale i'm air quoting a scale airplane and to me a scale airplane should look as scale as possible and the silver windows don't make it look scale telemaster is not really a scale airplane it's becoming cartoonish and yeah your telemaster is is moving as far away from scale as you can get and i think the silver windows on that airplane with the colors that are on it even though they're kind of the same but there's more white on your airplane than there is

[00:14:30] On this new decathlon and that's why i think the silver would would sell it so to speak okay but yeah other than the other than the gray windows i like it a lot actually and that would be an easy fix yeah oh it would be a piece of tape and masking tape and some wouldn't even do that i'd just vinyl it vinyl that's what i was thinking too but yeah it would be nice gloss and don't worry about peeling up the paint yeah yeah it would be easy enough to to fix that but yeah i'm looking at it again i

[00:14:59] Really like it what i like servos or ball link yeah for something that size i think is actually impressive and how i'm a big fan of ease of transport ease of taking apart yes no tools i know yeah and even though it has struts it actually the struts just pop in yep and then it has a holder to keep them level or to keep them safe i guess when you're transporting it yeah thumb screws on the back yep and you don't even have to insert any of the servo leads it it has a mating surface that plugs them in

[00:15:35] When you put the wing on yep no i i like it even though i'm i wouldn't consider myself the intended audience for this airplane because it's a it's like the next step after a trainer really yeah but i'm a huge fan of decathlons and this one looks pretty good and it's a in my opinion for 270 dollars it's it's actually i don't know if i'd say bargain but it's worth that i think it's worth reasonably priced yeah yeah i agree i mean and i hate hate hate that i'm liking these foam airplanes

[00:16:06] I know but yeah they have their place yes they do but i still it's amazing the difference in us now i

[00:16:16] Know then two or three years ago whatever it was i know i'm rubbing off on you guys i know it sucks ron's

[00:16:23] But not fun me too because you were into foam too i wasn't into it as much as it was a tool yeah i got you and now it's not a tool it's yeah hey this is cool i like you fly good like the safe they do help them out a lot as3x i'm sorry yes i always do that but yes the as3x does help them out a lot and i really do like that timber the sws one but price wise decathlon really kind of i know

[00:16:58] I know i still like the cherokee better than the decathlon though see the cherokee to me is i mean

[00:17:04] It's it's very utilitarian what i mean like in real life full-size life whatever one-to-one scale a cherokee just transports you hop in you fly to wherever and you get out you don't it's not really straighten level yeah it's not really a aerobatic exciting okay what i mean airplane whereas a decathlon those are those are aerobatic so i don't know making

[00:17:34] A pass inverted it looks all right it looks right you do that in a cherokee it's going to be a little

[00:17:38] Odd yeah you're thinking yeah everybody's getting in there so anyway the cherokee doesn't do anything i mean it looks nice don't get me wrong they did a good job but it's just not something i would

[00:17:47] I would go for i i like more of the scale civilian stuff so i like this one too what do you think of

[00:17:52] The colors i really like the colors honestly dave not my favorite especially since i modify everything well true it's not very hard to over paint true true it's not silver or gray or gray or white or light blue to match the sky okay i know i'm old and i'm stuck in my ways no really i've never noticed i personally would prefer it a more traditional decathlon scheme but oh really i mean this is this

[00:18:24] Is nice okay it's close i mean this has got the starbursts and stuff but it does have sort of a modern i would just like an orange or red i gotcha yeah but this is this is his new scheme

[00:18:36] Yeah this is like for the year so i mean it's literally modeled off of the full-size airplane which by the way jay gritter that's his airplane yeah it's colored like that yeah yeah but and i'm good with it but just not my cup of tea and now now the full-size airplane by the way has horizon on it i don't know if you noticed that or not and he will be at air venture this year oh nice i don't know if we've talked anything else about going to air venture we haven't really but we need to yeah so yeah cool airplane i mean a good release something different i like it i just like i

[00:19:14] Like seeing more airplanes in the market excuse me yeah i'll be interested to see once these are are available and people start buying them and flying them talk into you're talking off to the side i'm sorry that's okay to see what people are saying about how they fly yeah i mean in the video of course horizon does a really good job with their videos they always look good but that's not just an average joe schmo that's flying it right in the hands of the average modeler it'll be interesting to see how these these handle i'm sure they'll handle great i mean yeah i have no reason

[00:19:43] To believe they won't so that's one i don't know about new but if i saw one at a swap meet in two or three years it would probably come home with me yep but yeah cool yeah so what else going on

[00:20:00] So april is coming up yeah it usually follows march usually usually after march yeah even though we're just kind of really into the beginning of march but if you want to talk about april go ahead well because

[00:20:11] That's the next big thing that we're doing yeah and i mean the next i feel like the next big thing

[00:20:17] We are doing is maidening some airplanes and potentially running some airplanes like that

[00:20:23] Should be like before april hopefully yeah but i don't consider that like a an event or a trip well

[00:20:28] I don't know i feel like the maiden of of the 12 foot telemaster and the beast i feel like that's an event you think so i think so yeah yeah that's like the for me that's the next big thing oh by the way i picked a name oh for the beast would you like to tell i have chosen here we go hold on do i have drum roll nope well maybe it's a bad name let's see what it is it was submitted by one of our listeners okay of course the beast unbroken that's what i've chosen that makes sense because

[00:21:14] Lori talked me into the name like i was on the fence like there was there was really three names right that i was that i i liked a lot yeah yeah i'll say like so the beast unbroken was one of them obviously i really really really liked altered beast and i forget i think that might have been steve on discord i can't remember i apologize if i get that wrong but but that was one of the other ones i liked and i still liked basket case beast which was your idea ron so all three of those i

[00:21:45] Was i was agonizing over over the choice and lori said well why don't you call it beast unbroken that way when you crash it you can call it beast rebroken which i thought was hilarious when she said that because hopefully i don't crash it but it was really funny when she said that and that is sort of what elevated that name and i'm sorry that the name who picked it which was reggie that's that's sad which i mean yeah he it was a great name it is a great name it's i just it's unfortunate

[00:22:20] That it was reggie but don't be such a downer i mean sorry reggie we we really had hoped that it would have been one of our other listeners but it was reggie so i owe him a shirt and then he and i can talk offline about that but yeah beast unbroken cali graphics is doing the graphics for me and she sent me the artwork it's actually already printed and on its way it looks fabulous it looks amazing like i wait like i cannot wait to get it in my hands to look at it she already had i think

[00:22:53] The file for the original graphics like on the beast yeah for the original beast so she modified it to incorporate unbroken and it looks fantastic i can't wait to get it and by the way very reasonably priced like i don't know if you guys out there in listener land have like ever had cali graphics do stuff for you but very reasonable on the custom work so anyway way less than what i would charge them to do it yeah me too for sure so yeah i would highly recommend cali graphics so she

[00:23:25] Needs to raise her prices well i mean maybe not easy to to get a hold of she does everything through email so yeah i would prefer that oh really see i would prefer to talk to her on the phone or whatever but oh really yeah but that's okay i mean she was very responsive to email so that's that's good i like email but yeah i can't wait to get the to get them in my hand and put them on the airplane and take a picture and put it out there on facebook so you guys can see it i'm really excited about it looks it looks amazing that'll be cool yeah so can't wait

[00:27:53] It could be a total like you could it's a nice long weekend you could easily spend two days especially if you're into airplanes like all of us seem to be easily you could spend two days at that museum okay which unfortunately got hit by a tornado here recently i saw that it was the restoration hangar yeah took out one of the restoration hangers which sad right because there was some stuff in there but it didn't take out any of the of the what i would call the good stuff yeah these were all so yeah it didn't take out any of the good stuff you don't have to yell but you're you're trailing

[00:28:26] Off quiet and then you're looking away but anyway yeah so dayton we need to probably oh but there's something in between toledo and dayton you were going to talk about sorry so i don't know who's

[00:28:36] Going to this one you're going to be out of town maybe i can drag everybody else with a lot closer to home yeah i think we'll be able to do this one it should be good so at eli field in monticello we're having our first annual swap meet april 13th at the field right at the field yes so you can

[00:28:54] Like buy and fly buy and fly yeah yeah i kind of like that well that's what my plan was for toledo this year that like not going now well maybe next year maybe one of you guys should buy and fly at

[00:29:08] Toledo for me then i have to buy a small plane i don't want to buy a whole like i'm not i honestly i'm going to change my mind i want to get there but as of now i honestly you will want to not have new planes come home with me i want to honestly have the i'm saying honestly a lot because i'm trying to convince myself i want to have the biggest wad of cash possible to go to joe nol with me so you

[00:29:33] Should not walk around when you get to toledo you should sit down at your table with horse blinders on with horse blinders on watching movies on my phone don't walk around i know because i'm gonna have to buy something i know but yeah you're gonna have this wad of cash in your hand and then you're gonna walk around and maybe i shouldn't bring money with me oh that's not a bad idea maybe i should just

[00:29:59] Whatever i sell is what i can buy no i don't like that actually that's good in theory but then the problem becomes if you see something you like you can't just wait to hope you sell something to get money for it you need to have it then and there so nobody else buys it from you

[00:30:14] Or before you i should say yeah well that was we'll see how this works out yeah i don't know dave you're gonna have to rein him in

[00:30:25] I think i will be good yeah we came home with a third scale cup so i don't think that's true

[00:30:32] And that wasn't even me so i know we didn't even try to talk him into it they did that all on their own no because normally it's one of us egging somebody on yeah but which usually you guys did

[00:30:43] That without any of our help last year he just went oh i wonder what big airplane he's gonna buy this year he's taking the trailer right we're taking the trailer oh yeah he's coming home with

[00:30:56] A plenty of room for a big airplane good for him so yeah the i'm excited about the swap meet at the

[00:31:04] At the club i think that i would be more excited if you were able to go yeah again work work sucks

[00:31:10] Yeah but yeah i'm i look forward to seeing how it how it turns out i i suspect it'll it'll be

[00:31:17] Interesting at least yeah at the very least it's always not scary but it's always the the uncertainty yeah of how many people to expect of how to plan for this when we've not done it before yeah so who knows what the draw is going to be is it going to be five guys with five tables it's going to be

[00:31:37] That sounds like the last one i just went to oh yeah we'll get to that yeah we need to talk about

[00:31:44] About but like the last one that we all went to up north not you tommy because you were gone but the ones that we went to where it was their first one too so what was that that was i know well come on give me a hint where was the light beloit thank you i knew it was wisconsin but anyway so that was the first time they'd ever done it either or done it too and it was just packed like they had more people than they expected i'm hoping it's the same way here but the good thing is we'll have probably the hanger that we're going to use set tables up in there and then we will also have

[00:32:16] A whole bunch of area where people can just sell out of their cars if they want so it should be good yeah i'm excited yep probably not going to sell anything there that might be take pictures that might

[01:19:11] And then i don't remember what it was but they said that they had areas that you could pick that were best available there was some in river there was some in crater where else there was by some i think it was one each it could have been like i mean it's quite possible well maybe i don't i don't know there was probably more this year and here's why i say that crater is new so that's 16 spots that were not available last year does that make sense yes so i think there were more this year which is

[01:20:44] Our first choice that was our first choice and so i went through and tried to check out so i it let me through to the page and then it asked me how many i wanted and i hit one moved on to the next page and then it said something about the seats you chose because they consider the seats because it's like a yeah it's a concert like a concert venue thing the seats you chose are not next to each other which i chose one so that made no sense to me so then it said to go back which i did

[01:21:17] And then nothing was available everything it said sold out yeah and this is 10 seconds max it was very very very quick right and so then you texted and said you got one yep and my original no oh crater you said yeah yeah and so my first question back to you was did you check out yeah because when i tried

[01:21:43] To check out i lost it right and so what happened to you yeah so i clicked the link i was on the website right so i didn't use the app but i was on the website and like so you had to click out of it and then you'd have to click back in to event info and then that's what would take you to the event bright buy button right so i had it timed so that i would click the the event details button and i had it figured out it takes four seconds i think it was for it to open up the page to

[01:22:18] The event thing to where i could click buy so i backed it up right and i clicked the button right on time that i had calculated and it took me to the buy page and the buy button was like not grayed out like it was grayed out before because i tested it yes as did i quite a bit right so the buy button was was like not grayed out it was available to click i was like oh so i clicked it and yeah and it took me it said select the number of seats selected one and then

[01:22:50] It asked me i think it gave me an option because i had best available selected and it gave me the option because it showed you all three options and the only option that was clickable was crater so i clicked crater i clicked one clicked crater and it took me to the to the checkout page i was like cool and that's when i texted you guys i got one right so then from there there was only i want to say there was three ways to pay paypal was one i think venmo might have been

[01:23:26] Another one and then there was another online payment method there was no option to input a credit card or if there was i it was it was not clickable right yeah i have a paypal account so i'm like cool i'll just pay with paypal not a big deal click the paypal link and got the blue circle of death it just kept spinning so now and that's when i i think that's when i saw your message have you paid yet

[01:23:57] And i forget if i responded but i i think my response was something to the effect of paying now or something like that so and so i was happy like i was excited i was too i was super super excited i mean all that's left to pay i mean i've got that's i've got the it's in my cart it's

[01:25:47] This was my second hump so i was happy sad happy sad and i was about the same feelings as you had and then then it hit me i was like well if he lost it i wonder if any are coming back right so i hit the refresh button like i got back into the app and hit the refresh button and still said sold out i did it again sold out did it again sold out and i'm like this is stupid i just time to give up did it again sold out after my fifth time one became available that is so and i was like and it was crater oh hold

[01:26:20] On so i clicked through and i learned from your mistake well not even mistake but you don't learn from your snafu yeah as i went through and did all the stuff that got to the pay part it had the credit card information right there for me to input yeah so i was like i'm not doing paypal that was an option but i was like i'm not i'm scared of that yeah so i put the credit card information and stuff in and got that all taken care of click through and then the only message you get is success thank you for your payment or something like that and so even then i'm like did i really get it don't believe this

[01:26:54] Like is this is this going to come back and say oh i'm sorry it didn't didn't go through or something like that so i told you i went on there i was like i think i got one it says i did but i don't have any emails or anything saying hey you did and it took probably five to ten minutes and then that email came through from eventbrite with all the stuff it gave me my actual qr code for going there all the information on it said you got it gave us our number so we are lot number 10 in the crater
