[00:00:36] I am reggie i'm ron and how are you doing i'm fine we are a little lonely tonight and i say tonight because it's actually the latest we have ever recorded an episode of the podcast it's been a very long day i feel bad for you i really do i appreciate you doing this so tommy is still out of town he will be back at the end actually the day this goes live he's supposed to be back in town but he's busy this weekend which takes us into next weekend of the dayton

[00:01:08] Model rama swap meet so it's going to be busy coming up so we got back from toledo a couple weeks ago and the last weekend was the eli field swap meet we're going to talk about all of that next episode including dayton and did you make it to toledo i did not i tried did you i did you

[00:01:38] Should have tried harder i was even supposed to have gotten like grand boys that fail through it

[00:01:43] Just it was one snowball behind the other so well that's okay we can look forward to other things

[00:01:50] Coming up i'm hoping i'm hoping it's just one behind another so far well that you need a vacation

[00:01:59] That's coming and that will be coming up soon through the 18th -huh before we talk about that though because i do want to get into what you're bringing what your expectations are what you're excited for what you're not excited for what not with yes i will say it joe knoll

[00:02:17] First off we haven't had you on for a while would you believe by the way would you believe that we had okay so we have the the listener survey that we came out with at the beginning of the year the new one would you believe under ideas for shows the biggest recommendation i would say is to have reggie on more often no i wouldn't believe it i wouldn't either hadn't i

[00:02:48] Seen it with my own eyes wow but that you are very for some reason well not for some reason well yeah whatever you were very wanted on here so we needed to fill our episode and i thought this is the perfect time i appreciate that thank you no i i've been wanting to do this for a while because like i said we have had a lot of people say that they enjoyed listening to your stories of

[00:03:14] Crashing i think is probably one of the biggest things which i'm hoping we have some new ones to hear about oh i do i do i you never disappoint i i get frowned upon for where i was flying

[00:03:27] At all the time especially when i was on the road oh like yeah previously so my crashes have been pretty limited yeah nothing spectacular no jack-in-the-box signs off no jack-in-the-boxes no cars no walmart parking lots none of that i'm proud of you that's good i've changed i've grown over

[00:03:46] The years being a good steward for the hobby something like that yeah oh anyway so let's start off with new planes what have you gotten since last we spoke because oh man you were not supposed

[00:04:00] To buy anything true but joe knoll had i had such a gap for something to take and of course the the whole pond thing as far as flying off water i definitely want to try yeah david wild back it gave me some floats for my carbon z cub somehow or another i bought some parts for my carbon z cub and ended up with floats for the flex innovation cub which made no sense to me it's like they had put carbon z parts in one box i think it was a fuse and they attached flex innovation floats to that same

[00:04:36] Box so where did you get this when oh what the heck is that place name it was a hobby shop we had here in town adventure or the one after that falcon falcon falcon and they they went before they went out of business they had a bunch of stuff put together selling so this is years ago years ago

[00:04:57] Okay i thought you meant you picked it up just for joe knoll well no no not this one i had

[00:05:03] I've been wanting the floats for a while and dave seemed to have floats for that plane and i think i traded them the flex innovation floats for those floats or give them to somebody else but i've never put them on the cub that's something i just don't want to do but now that we're going to that it's going to be set up for that okay i bought a twin timber when i bought that i bought

[00:05:23] Floats for it so it's very ironic by the way that you bought a twin timber when i just sold one at the swap meet last week two weeks ago whatever it was now yeah it's like our paths just didn't quite cross i didn't know you had one really i don't think so oh i bought it well the first time i saw one in person was at joan all last year i really liked them so i ordered it and i want to say i probably flew it maybe 10 ish times right and just

[00:06:00] So here's the thing okay honestly here's why i got rid of it and this is the only reason flies great like the way it looks it's a fun little airplane it did have a little tendency to nose over if you're not very careful on landings but i can deal with that storage though is what got to me the wings with the big nacelles and the three baited or three bladed props just made it take up more space than i was willing to give up for a plane like that does that make sense yes yes i'm

[00:06:32] I've been saying for years i'm out of room and i got rid of quite a few in order to get some new stuff and even with a lot of stuff gone it's still i got to be careful when i walk in the plane room or i'm going to clip something yeah porsche like the oh the e-flight viper 90 i walked in turned around didn't realize i was close enough to it i caught the the rudder on it with my leg snapped right off oh yeah it's there's been several little accidents like that it's just

[00:07:03] Hanger rash oh my god it's annoying it's very annoying yeah as opposed to crashing while you fly which that to me is better than hanger rash because it was at least doing its intended purpose

[00:07:13] Exactly you you felt something before it went down versus just bumping it and you idiot great but see i got a turbo twin timber i got a the d the beechcraft d18 which i think i might

[00:07:30] Have mentioned that a while back no i think not on here i think you've bought that since last time you were on you only got that a couple months ago i thought it's been at least four or five i think somewhere in there oh okay i i can't think what else i've gotten so far oh i got the

[00:07:49] Of course remember the p47 which i'm still waiting on a hinge for that i mean it flew great it was just in the landed i didn't realize there was a rut there and took out a landing gear so which one was that tell us that story that was the big 20 size hanger 9 p47 20 size you mean 20 cc size okay and it flew great i mean i had a ball i got one flight out of it and landed and realized there was a

[00:08:19] Rut toward the end of the where my landing area was and sure enough bounced it and i watched that

[00:08:25] Gear kick out oh out of the field at the church field yes i know out of the field like where you're

[00:08:30] Supposed to be flying the actual like flying field i think that feels even rougher yet so yeah no i went to the church field it was hey everything's down they've cleared it out i don't know gold poles or

[00:08:42] Nothing anymore it's it's just wide open now really yep because you took them out or what i don't know

[00:08:47] I think the church like that guy's a really good flyer so maybe we should just move some of this stuff out the way for him or let's move it out of the way just in case insurance doesn't cover that yeah i got it but no it was it was a good flight i'm still waiting on a hinge for it but everything i think i've got everything else for it so it's just a matter of getting everything swapped over now

[00:09:07] Oh what the heck else did i have unbeknownst to you oh no i've also picked up a hanger 9 20 cc they call them bravada brave you guys had one you and tommy had one the pawnee whatever it was you got one of those yep it was a good deal i couldn't pass it how how you didn't know this no i i didn't know that there's also now i i'm not for sure the size yet i would be willing to guess

[00:09:39] It's about an 84 inches maybe a little more i think it's a 50 cc edge 260 no extra extra 260 extra would be 260 yeah seriously 50 cc i think it's 50 cc i'm not 100 for sure yet

[00:09:55] That well 84 87 inch wingspan ish would fit with that that's what it sounds like

[00:10:01] And last but not least well not last and probably not least i just told you about the falker wolf 190 i believe it looks just like the one you got out there but it's also balsa wood -huh i have no idea what size because i know it's electric but i don't know what size motor is on that like roughly wingspan size what are you

[00:10:21] Talking because i think the one i have is oh so it's good size it's about the same size that pre p47 so because the fw 190 i have is the old i think it's park zone and i just i i've been going back especially with it being swap meat season i have been going back and forth on getting rid of that one or not because i don't have batteries for it i don't want to buy one battery for one plane i

[00:10:51] Have a big problem doing that you sold me on the smart charger one battery is nothing for that charger

[00:10:57] No no i get it like time wise and all that stuff what i'm saying is i don't want to have one airplane yeah with one battery only no you're gonna get that i meant i said that backwards i don't want to have one battery that's only good for one airplane you're gonna get that i mean you're gonna eventually hit that somewhere at some point i guess i don't know but that just and not knowing how well it flies not knowing if i like it not know there's a lot of unknowns that i don't necessarily want to

[00:11:26] Spend have you flown that at all no i don't have a battery for it what size or what connector is on

[00:11:33] That i don't even remember because if it's an ec3 i may have one i think it's an ec3 i i could be wrong well no it would have been an ec3 because yes it's an ec3 because i bound it and i made sure everything worked using a smart 3s yeah 3s 2200 which has the the ic3 on it so it plugged right into the ec and you're positive that won't fit down in there no no so that's the weird thing about that airplane so

[00:12:05] I've not had one to where the battery goes vertical right behind the motor so it's right behind the firewall there's a a slot that it has to go down in the 2200s are too long for the the hatch to clip onto i could kind of make it work if i put it horizontal down at an angle but that's real i mean it's it's not secure that way that's not how it's supposed to be so i don't even want to try it

[00:12:32] Do you have any of those universal connectors you can put a different style 1800 in there as far as still being a three cell or so you take it to an ec3 to like a dean's or something i mean i can make one if i need to do you have a battery i think i do i might have to i don't have to go through it

[00:12:49] But i think i do yeah if you think about it look for it and let me know i might try and fly that sometime all right and then i'll know if i want to buy a battery for it or not either crash it and don't buy a battery or like it and buy a battery or fly it don't like it and get rid of it but like i said just that whole battery thing made me that that was one that i was very close to taking to the swap piece to get rid of so yeah i cannot think of what else i've gotten that's sad it is that that actually that means you have way too many probably did you get the jet

[00:13:24] I have gone back and forth i've talked to nick i've talked to joe and i've talked to mike

[00:13:32] Horizon hobby reps you don't need to talk to people you just order it that's all i did the

[00:13:36] Thing is i'm waiting to order because we're probably coming out with a new library and that's all i'm waiting on now and they said there's gonna be an announcement here soon and that's the only i've already got everything lined up i'm just gonna do this all in one shot get everything i need but i don't want to do it until that library comes out which should be any time between now and

[00:13:58] And after the jet meet may 5th i thought what he told me well that's pretty close when's the jet

[00:14:05] Meets in june isn't it june or july no it's august you're august you've got some time tommy's all fired up he's like just say when you got it tommy's ready to get his own did he make his mind up on the i the bronco versus that yeah i think he's leaning towards

[00:14:22] The jet now which i don't blame him bronco's gonna be expensive bronco is going to be pricier than the jet which seven batteries or something like that didn't it yeah yeah four of them six cell it would take seven batteries the rest of them are two cells so yeah four six cell five or

[00:14:40] Six thousand packs probably five i think is what they were and their thing was two

[00:14:46] Receiver batteries and and one retract battery so that means not only lots of batteries but lots of chargers which you have at least two you have two of the smart charger 2200 yeah and i just

[00:15:02] Required another one got a smart six cell pack as well that's one thing i'm i think i'm light on i need

[00:15:08] To get another charger although i really haven't run into an issue where i needed to charge more than two at a time but i know that's going to be coming up soon well when i go out of course i like that

[00:15:22] On discord i took out the extra 300 and the extra 330. i took out i believe it was six six cell packs so versus me just shoving them on the other charges that take forever in a day to do one of them i think on both the smart chargers they they balanced out the amperage at least the new one did it went eight and a half on one eight and a half on the other but on the older charger that i've actually updated if i was actually programmed to like for say 16 amps for both batteries one battery

[00:15:58] Would do 16 amps the other battery would be like i don't know two point something or whatever amps and once the first battery would finish off the another one would just automatically go to the 16 amps and just start going at it really yep that's strange program that's they downloaded it to it or i don't

[00:16:13] Know what it why it started doing that so you're talking about the s2200s the dual smart chargers the expensive ones yes you have two of them the older one charges haphazardly okay and then the other one's

[00:16:30] Okay because the one i have does it evenly well if i was a program both for 16 amps they would just

[00:16:37] Drop down to eight and a half on both sides we can put more than 16 in at a time i think that

[00:16:42] Charged up to 20 amps i get a little sketchy but doing any higher than that for those size batteries

[00:16:47] It just i don't know feel a little nervous there i get it but i like being able to charge a battery in

[00:16:52] 20 minutes i live in an apartment if something goes wrong true so i'm a little little leery yeah and that's all batteries in there all planes i think i get rid of all the fuel since i've only got one

[00:17:03] Nitro plane now but that's a lot of stuff in there so so down to one nitro plane just one any gas

[00:17:11] Yes box still in that what the hell that great plains sparrowhawk i think it was oh yeah i still want that one i'd be almost tempted to make a deal for it really that sea wind over there no i just got

[00:17:28] That i'd be almost able to make a deal for that just to get it out of the house the only reason

[00:17:32] Why i bought it because i was going to take the motor off of it and then it's like you didn't think flies so why not and like have you flown it though yeah about three or four times do you like the way

[00:17:41] It flies oh it did so this is what is that the sparrowhawk but that's the old phoenix models yes or no

[00:17:48] Or do you even know i thought it was great plains is it still phoenix it's not great plains they found it

[00:17:54] Most most positive it was great plains i don't think it was great plains because i was actually the one that found it maybe it was dave whatever going through a catalog that came with an airplane i bought i want to say that was phoenix i'm trying to remember what airplane that was because it was it was an rf it was an older one yep 20 cc motor on it no no i mean the one that i had it was an older rf box like i had bought the rf i don't remember what it was though and i opened it up and it had the old catalog and stuff and they always used to put in i'm pretty sure it was phoenix

[00:18:27] This is when we need or need dave or tommy because they're good with remembering that kind of stuff definitely history buffs yeah but i don't remember what it was but anyway so yeah that might be something i would be willing to consider the same thing though just a lot of room

[00:18:42] Well i mean you take the wing off you're fine but it's a one-piece wing or two-piece one piece batteries were up in the nose and i did put two new batteries up there

[00:18:54] But that's a sato four-stroke gas right like gasoline i believe so i believe so

[00:19:04] So it's 20 cc and the motor was brand new on it when i got it and they don't think it had been flown

[00:19:12] So yeah but is that the one that had the mouse holes in the wing no that was a that was the

[00:19:17] Glider or sailplane whatever so is that that was the one that had the dog food and wings dog food

[00:19:22] In the okay i knew there was something weird dave had to take yeah some little kid just got to

[00:19:27] Popping them in there and it took me forever to shake that crap out of that are you sure that's

[00:19:30] What it was and not like a mouse oh no that was dog food it was all dog food i mean it wasn't a mouse carrying it in like you said some little kid how do it was a kid that that's what i was

[00:19:39] Told from you guys sold it to me well of course he's gonna lie about the wing was up against the wall some little kid was in there just dropping food down in the holes that was it but like no

[00:19:50] Mouse droppings or proof okay unless he covered over it i didn't see anything i didn't see nothing but dog food come out of that oh that's the case i might be a little bit more interested in it oh you can look at it if you want to see it it's not going to be one of my new airplanes though

[00:20:06] No it's your style though you seem to like that no i mean i'm not going to trade you one of my

[00:20:10] New airplanes for it no we're going to have to figure something anyway yeah whatever i'm in the rush it's just sitting on the wall yeah i have yes i have got to do a better job of getting rid of

[00:20:25] Airplanes i got rid of a bunch in one shot and it was actually kind of relieving but i've been wanting to take something off the loft from up there yeah and started on it i actually started on the ventique from flex innovations and i had to call tommy i screwed up i was doing i don't remember what the hell i was doing but i was always putting it together everything was going fine there's an actual c-shaped rod that goes into the elevator back here at the rudder step so before you glue that on you

[00:20:59] Need to shove this rod in there and pull it back and then you glue your rudder into place because the rudder goes on the elevator slides in just before it wasn't paying attention i got distracted i glued that elevator stab right on in there and looked over at the floor to see that little c-shaped

[00:21:17] Delay on the floor so i'm assuming that's the piece that holds the elevators together each side oh

[00:21:25] Tommy told me how to fix it i was so discouraged i was dude i was mad read the manual read it read it and then follow it multiple times i got distracted and sure enough left it on the floor i was hot i bet tommy told me just walk away i walked i walked out of the house i hopped in the car i drove down i was mad i had to calm down for a little bit but i think i can fix it so oh yeah you

[00:21:53] Haven't fixed it yet no so that just happened recently that was last weekend i believe or the

[00:21:58] Weekend before last yes i didn't hear about that one so that's sometimes you got to be quiet about things ron because you get to talking too much then that gets elevated i don't know what you're talking about i'm sure you don't that's funny so it's still in the living room i actually had to redo the living room and the dining room because i had so many playing parts everywhere

[00:22:20] Once i see i screwed that up i actually went over to the b25 mitchell and put it together so it's all done and as we was talking about the little oopsie thing i didn't remember what i was doing but oh i retched around the b25 for something caught my sleeve on one of the doors for the nose gear right off right off i haven't even got it out of the living room i had to buy a door for it

[00:22:52] Brand new brand spanking new door so obviously a new door but brand new airplane like have you

[00:22:57] Flown it before no never i literally just put it together oh it has not left the living room until after i broke the door and i probably put in the playing room so oh my god i was just not having no luck i mean literally when i said i drove away i drove oh i was on the other side of town i was almost

[00:23:12] Over here somewhere i was so mad so you're you're talking about a lot of new airplanes like you've gotten a few for a guy that said i'm not buying anything until i get my jet you have gotten a lot

[00:23:25] Of airplanes well sometimes you just kind of get that little spur thing going and you just you want to stop and you just can't because there's another new plane oh i've been wanting this plane for a

[00:23:35] While oh this this is the price now like oh okay he roads away at the jet money though

[00:23:44] No i've got that situated it's all good to go on that so you got everything figured out then you've

[00:23:50] Got jet cost mm-hmm you've got your fuel jug not yet okay that's the one thing i haven't got how about a fire extinguisher not yet okay well just those two things for what i about 600 bucks of what you paid well not quite but yeah close but not quite but yeah you can have made it wrong we're just just just you and me go ahead no it was i don't think it was quite six but it was pretty close because the gas jug was about 300 for what you told me remember and i think the other one i think yeah i think you're

[00:24:25] Right because i bought the jersey modeler five gallon diesel can with a nice pump i might just

[00:24:32] Come to you for fuel just pay you for fuel and just keep the jug right there i don't think that's

[00:24:38] How it works but anyway and then you need the you have to have your own fire extinguisher and i i'd have to look at my because i have a chart of everything i spent i want to say that was a couple on her bucks so i want to say it was around five for both of those i mean it's coming i know august august is going to be here before it are you going to have time to get it to get it delivered i should to get it put together i've got

[00:25:12] Word both guys are all three guys here as soon as you guys know let me know and i'll pull over and we'll start this whole process so i can get this done what whole process you just click a button and say buy now i want to be for sure i got everything that i need well you're not going to outside of

[00:25:30] The fire extinguisher and the fuel i mean you still want you're going to have to order your uat there's a couple other things that didn't come with it that i had to get i don't know what it was

[00:25:39] That's what i'm saying that they still come through horizon does it not well i bought mine through there yeah so the uat is that little tank that gets all the air the fuel whatever

[00:25:49] I don't know what the u is i think universal or something but air trap okay universal doesn't sound right though this what do you call it the synopsis receiver the synapse yeah is it synopsis synapse synapse thank you synopsis is what you get when you read a book at the end of it close enough what i meant big difference in price too that i would hope that's another

[00:26:14] What are those 500 bucks yeah for what what is it the 20 channel mm-hmm was that just receiver is the synopsis also something else too is there something separate

[00:26:28] Well the synapse is its own unit i haven't showed you the one in the jet yet i don't think so i mean

[00:26:32] When we walk out i can so that's part of the receiver or is that something separate from the receiver so it's i don't understand the question i mean like it's well i thought the new receiver

[00:26:43] Is supposed to have this synopsis built within synapse is not built into it but it connects to

[00:26:48] It via a wire okay see because what he was explaining to me i thought it was one unit

[00:26:54] I mean it comes together like you're ordering just the ar 2410t or whatever that's called and that comes with the synapse gyro all right which is actually i mean it's an updated version of as 3000 that you used to be able to get that's been discontinued i actually think the model number on it's as 6000 now i could be wrong but it only works with this receiver because the way joe's told me about this it

[00:27:22] You don't have to set nothing up it's literally plug and play and you're done it's already i mean all the settings in the receiver are set that works perfect for this jet close you still have to do a little

[00:27:35] Bit of programming on it but it's less than five minutes okay there's your initial setup when you when you have to go through with your with your transmitter and it's all done through forward programming it's really easy that's good but there are things that i still need to find out about that i'm not 100 sure how it works yet there's something weird with the front wheel steering to where you can i think you can take the gyro off of that or you can have that also controlled by the gyro or there's also something where i think as soon as you hit i'm trying to think what it is i think

[00:28:13] You can you can program it to where as soon as you hit the gear up button it centers that gear and ignores the input to it so you're not turning the wheel as it goes into the airplane does that make sense yeah i see what you're saying but i have to i have to do a lot of reading on that first because i know i'm just kind of talking out of my butt because i don't have that down yet because i

[00:28:35] Haven't dealt with it but stopping is for the wheel to actually turn as it's trying to go up

[00:28:39] And possibly binding up into the fuse and same with going down like it will not start to turn that

[00:28:47] Wheel until the rudder and the wheel are moving simultaneously simultaneously they're

[00:28:53] Okay yeah same thing so it just turns that off i thought there was normally enough clearance in the wheel well for that anyway no a lot of airplanes don't have enough clearance a couple of the other

[00:29:05] Ones i have with three tracks don't hmm that would suck yeah i should burn up a retract trying to come in for landing now you have no nose gear oh that would really suck a lot of yeah it would

[00:29:19] But anyway so you're all ready for all that you're ready to pull the trigger i'm making sure the list

[00:29:24] Is everything i need so i can just get it all in one hit and be done so what's going to be

[00:29:29] Included so you could order all the other stuff now you could get your receiver you get your batteries ordered you can get all of that stuff taken care of now then you don't have to worry about all the extra stuff because i don't think they're going to change what comes with it no no it's just literally

[00:29:46] I was hoping to do this all in one one buy one purchase and just be done with it that's what i was trying to do why just it felt better that way so i know i got the whole pit and caboodle done but

[00:29:57] Then you see the big number and it hurts more it's gonna hurt regardless what i do if it's one like transaction with a huge number i don't like that as much as four or five they're a little bit smaller

[00:30:08] It doesn't feel as bad no really i have to feel it one way the other so this is something i'm it's gonna be my spin of the year i'm kind of hoping that this i would like for this to be the last plane of the year that i buy oh you i'm that's what i'm hoping it's not gonna happen the carbon z cub the the the not cub but the t28 i'm kind of teetering on but i'm hoping this one here will be

[00:30:33] My last one of the year you mean the big one the yellow one yep i want that really i do that does nothing for me i don't know one no i don't like the looks of them though because it's yellow no i just don't like the shape of the t28s i just i never have i don't know what it is i was so

[00:30:51] Impressed with the park zone t28 once this one here came out i had to have it and i finally got a hold of one actually there was one sitting in hobby mart forever that was the one i bought and now it's the one dave has oh the one he repainted yeah okay i can't remember that guy's name but he just kept making offers always at the field one day and i was like no and tommy was working on it at the time if i came over made another offer i was like okay so hold on what so the the guy that owned

[00:31:24] It was at the field yeah and then he i think he gave it or sold it to dave what's hobby mart hobby mart the place that burned down over in dark from some barkway adventure hobbies no that's that was jason's place hobby mart was the one that was also

[00:31:40] Falcon hobby a falcon okay when they moved from i guess i remember that i remember the dirksen but i don't know why i thought it was still falcon over there that was hobby mart okay it was real big with the online stuff over there yeah i remember they did a lot of the ebay stuff yeah that's what it

[00:31:56] Was before anyway so he had it and i bought it from them i flew it for a while i had it feel i was having an issue with the flaps i don't remember what it was but tommy jumped in there and we started fixing it next thing friend of dave's came over and made me two or three offers and i finally jumped on one offer until tommy stopped what he was doing yeah right on the spot well then how did it end up with dave i don't remember what happened to that guy i think he had some kind

[00:32:27] Of medical issue or something i know he moved to florida and dave ended up somehow oh i know

[00:32:32] What you're talking about okay was his name ed i think i think so so huh he's had it ever since dave's had it dave dave sorry you're confusing me so i'm confusing me i know it's like i said it's been a long day this is late it's i'm gonna sound bad because it's not late to many people

[00:32:52] But it's going on 10 p.m i've done 750 some miles today have you really yeah that might not include

[00:32:59] Coming here so oh my gosh so because of the time that's why it's just you and i dave had to bow out because he has to be at work bright and early tomorrow which by the way you and i also have to be at work bright and early tomorrow so just saying i looked up my trailer got loaded for me

[00:33:16] Today so instead of having to be somewhere at seven in the morning i can probably leave a little later

[00:33:20] Now oh well i still have to be at work at seven so nice yeah not for you it'll be just fine so 750 miles today what is also 750 ish miles joe no i think it's like 738 from here is what i i've already driven that today so exactly so that that's nothing for you no so like the drive

[00:38:37] Soon yes yeah i mean so that part's fine but like i i do not want to leave this year like that was the one thing as far as getting supplies or whatever yeah and maybe once is fine

[00:38:56] Whatever it's no big deal to me well i'm i'm just saying like that was one thing that kind of took away from last year was i going to get fuel every day yeah that would which like i said that it wasn't a big like i might have been saying that's a big negative but that was one thing that was just every day you had to leave and that took 45 minutes to an hour by the time you got stuff loaded up drove all the way out because believe it or not it takes a while to drive through that place

[00:39:27] To get from where we were camped to the actual road i can believe it you drive slow there's a lot of traffic it's oh i mean it's what a mile and a half or something like that each way and then you have 10 15 minute drive to get to the gas station so it took a while but like i said we don't have that this year so hopefully we can get away with not worrying about it i actually was able to get a hold

[00:39:53] Of a 13 000 watt generator i want to trade with a guy brand new in a box and i was actually traded for what love points i points when i get fuel for my all the time i didn't know where you're going with that i was in points okay loves points as in loves truck stop not love points which is what you said

[01:00:27] Finally got it out this is when mr stucky was around still so this was a new airplane this is a new airplane yep he actually had two of them on the floor and told me to pick one as far as the hobby shop owner when i was i picked it up out of oh champagne illinois there at slot and wings okay he had a whole batch of these things sitting in there in the back room and there was two of those and as soon as i saw i was like oh i gotta have one of those i've got to have one and it's been

[01:00:58] Through probably including tommy and now dave four people working on that because i was too scared to mess with it as far as put it together and one of the people that put it together or worked on it he just did a sloppy job i mean things were not right at all i went to tommy about it and tommy just shook his head and he straightened quite a few things out and even after i was done i was still didn't want to mess with it just scared to death i was going to destroy this plane

[01:01:32] And i figured i'd wait what i mean just wait yeah get more time in more experience it sticks i try to fly warbirds as much as i can i even bought a p-51 foamy the fms 1700 millimeter model to see if that'd be any different i don't do bad with that at all i actually do pretty good with it and i know it's it's a whole different flight characteristic but yeah you still got to land that and you don't want to bounce them you don't want to come in

[01:02:05] Too slow you don't want to come in blazing hot either so i get the whole gist of it so i'm kind of hoping when i finally get to this one here i'm gonna probably oh i know dave or tommy's gonna fly first before i fly it that's funny when i talk to them they don't want to i'm sure they don't i'm sure they don't especially now all the work's been in it but i can't see me flying at first not that one so i'll made them with anything else but i won't

[01:03:12] Probably but i didn't when i bought the kit i didn't realize as far as the cockpit kit i didn't realize it was going to be all that at all i've seen a few brian's from dynamic boss's kits it's already kits yeah and i i didn't put two and two together like how much work was involved in that and i didn't realize that until after i actually opened the box to see all these molded

[01:03:36] Pieces they're all white nothing colored nothing oh yeah it's just plastic that's been vacuum formed

[01:03:42] And i was like okay this is gonna be a problem so that's why i asked dave and he was hesitant but he decided to do it dave needs to learn how to say no

[01:06:37] Off the laundry flip the plane into full throttle and watch it take off from the table and hit straight into the wall it went about two feet oh that's not the one i was thinking of okay and it fell down onto the floor i had i got to my controller just in time to turn it off but it already hit the wall yeah so ouch that was three props in fixing two narcells a loss of a gun and a ding somewhere i can't remember i had something dinged up but i hadn't been fixing it are you the one that had the plane into your jeans too the twin star the one you had afterwards is that okay yeah i i can't remember

[01:07:14] It caught the throttle but it was up against my knee and i was just i was running the throttle for a little bit because i thought one of the the motors were spinning up a little faster than the other for whatever reason i turned him down and twisted move or something and went full throttle the damn thing was up against my knee and it spun around and caught me in the knee gosh so yeah there's a lot of safety violations that go on in my place there's a throttle cut button right you can put on there yeah i got them on it's always i it's all set on all my planes

[01:07:49] But i failed to turn them off at their proper time okay and i like do you take props off when

[01:07:56] You're no i won't know that's your problem like you can that sea wind i literally just put the prop on that last night after i was done with everything like the prop was just off you can see the cub over

[01:08:09] There the prop is still off because i i need to practice that i do i'd be the first to admit it i normally figure i put everything together and i'll right off the bat put throttle kit on and when i'm working on i'm trying to just throttle up trying to see what's going on with it i'll flip it off whatever but it's always that little something or another whether it be just sleeve shirt or shirt sleeve or just a nudge or something and next thing throttle's on

[01:08:36] And guess who's right in front of the props well that's we've talked about before that's problem with electrics because they don't care they're not going to die and you don't have to start them first so that's why it's so easy so quick just to pull a prop off it is and you don't have

[01:08:54] To worry about it it's something i should be swallowing every time after especially after the whole hand

[01:09:00] Incident with this spock which by the way how's that doing stiff is it it's just stiff everything

[01:09:07] All healed back up though i think so i think so it's just it's stiff i think the whole sorry i think it's just the whole getting older thing arthritis i'm pretty sure that's sitting in

[01:09:20] Pretty good hell yeah yeah so did you get did they have to go back in or what was it with the carbon

[01:09:25] Fiber do they get all that out now the middle finger still had quite a bit of it in it of course it did yeah imagine that so and they got about little 40 50 pieces of it out but the finger's still numb oh those actual two fingers are still just just numb like it just went to sleep

[01:09:47] Or something yeah but as you can see they still don't sit oh yeah they're not even nope not at all wow but they're operational i can see but i can yep yep yep it's just fast remember it's like a

[01:10:02] Pair of tweezers folks basically if you think about what tweezers look like that's what these two

[01:10:07] Fingers yeah how they go together just like that huh well well i'm glad it's at least healing and getting semi back i'm just happy i still have them yeah and you can still fly true true i did by

[01:10:19] Fact i went back the next day i believe it was you did that was yeah it was the right next day that was nuts i did i couldn't i wasn't gonna let defeat me like that yeah but you were still on medicines and i came down i came down as a matter of fact i think if anybody thought i was loopy out

[01:10:35] There they wouldn't let me on out there and fly true very true but now let's get back to one thing that we didn't finish talking about crash stories i think you probably were hoping i forgot oh no oh no

[01:10:45] Okay see the last crash was the e-flight p39 air cobra and like i said i've waited two years to get

[01:10:54] That thing in the air and i finally get the fuse so what why why two years because that's an awfully

[01:11:00] Long time it was a discontinued plane i mean i got to fly for about maybe half a year and the last crash i had with it was out in salt lake flats so of course when i went to go order parts i didn't know it was discontinued couldn't find anything i well no i found the prop i found the spinner and an elevator that's all i found and i got to look around for it eventually found the

[01:11:28] Wing over in irving texas at a hobby town near and i drove there and got it i made no doubt about it

[01:11:35] I went and got it that's interesting the fuse however disappeared for a while it literally just showed back up here about a month ago i know two months ago what do you mean disappeared as in nobody had it oh i thought you meant like you lost no no it was just it was discontinued okay and for some reason they always kept saying it was going to come back and it never did and all of a sudden just out of two months here it just suddenly reappeared and the first one i got the rudder was tore off of it i was just going to leave it at that but i made the mistake of using the screws from the first

[01:12:10] Air cobra out of it into the new one and they were just snapping i mean literally snapping into the fuse where you mount the motor at they were just breaking off in the fuse the whole head would come right off the screw and i'm thinking maybe because it was in had been in that salt maybe possibly i don't i don't know that's weird i should have took that as the big hint there

[01:12:37] Because i think when it crashed it ingested quite a bit of salt the motor sounded a little funny salt was definitely inside the receiver which i didn't see that but i finally looked at and it's all the corrosion going on in there after the second crash one of the smart batteries on the balancing plug it's got a little green on it and that was the one that was in the plane

[01:13:02] So i should have took all that and just been done with it and just like let me replace everything and did not so when she went up for the first flight she was sketchy i was fighting her but she flew so i figured i can just kind of trim it out a little bit i knew i had a servo that was seeming like it was locking up a little bit it was a rudder servo if i remember right but it had just enough to where that's all i needed i didn't even really very much out of it and i just kept so you knew this before you took off i knew that before we took off oh but it was fine on the rudder

[01:13:36] Servo was fine it there was a spot in it and i knew even if it got hung up it was deflection was just going to be minimum on what it was going to be so okay it was it was fine she flew good i mean especially trying to refigure how how the setup was on that but it just it still didn't seem right and i couldn't figure out what that was so i went to go up again at the check-in battery make sure everything was good apparently the double-sided tape on the bottom of the receiver

[01:14:12] It was coming loose and i didn't catch that and that was one of the safe receivers so once it got up in the air and that receiver popped off the gyro and that just let it go so she went up she inverted and i was flying it inverted for about i don't know 10 15 seconds but she was coming down so i just kept as low as i could keep it i couldn't flip it back over and just watched it nose in and we went in about maybe i don't know maybe 20 degree angle 15 20 degree angle that's still pretty good yeah

[01:14:46] They didn't destroy it but after seeing it i just completely discouraged with it and i just let it go so it's in the garbage now not yet it's gonna make its way though i'm i don't trust anything in it and that's when i looked inside the receiver you see it looked a little crappy in here so it's like yeah i

[01:15:02] Think this is done so i have bought recently a few of the like ar631s the as3x and safe receivers right i'm not a big fan of safe but i understand if you need it it's good to have right so if i'm flying and the sun gets in my eyes or something stupid i get a bug and something stupid it's nice to kind to have that as a backup but one of the things i do so i will set up flight modes and have three

[01:15:34] Switches one is safe obviously one is as3x and then the other one is as3x off safe off so you're just flying it yourself so if anything ever happens where like if a receiver comes loose i can flip into just flying it old school right and you don't have to worry about any of that with your receiver

[01:15:59] Well something we're thinking about i i was almost positive the switch that i normally would use for safe i could not get it to do anything i mean literally i i would move the plane around i wouldn't see anything moving i kept flipping the switch back and forth to see if i could see it move and i couldn't see anything move but yet i could hear i watched dance do the whole little bit when you first plug it in

[01:16:25] And so i didn't think there was nothing working at that time as far as safe when i flew it around she did not act like she had safe at all to her i even had because i put all my my throws all in one switch like a switch e so 50 70 100 or whatever it may be for the plane oh okay and your rates my rates thank you generally when i flipped safe on those rates would still work with safe

[01:16:55] So i can still get so much out of it but this one here she just act like there was no safe going until that last takeoff and then all of a sudden she had it yeah and for whatever reason she decided to go inverted because i i looked at the receiver once i went over to it it was definitely off and it was off to the side i really don't know i just assumed that safe said hey this is not right and flipped it

[01:17:19] Over could it have been on a different switch that you accidentally flipped i checked everything

[01:17:23] Before it took the off the ground i mean i was checking every switch trying to see if i could find

[01:17:27] It it's normally on that plane it was

[01:17:33] What the hell is that b i think not the landing gear which is i think a it's one right above it

[01:17:41] For this radio three position yeah i think so i think so i don't know why i think that's e but i

[01:17:54] Could be wrong he's over on the right side it's on the face of the radio this one here is at the very

[01:17:59] Top of the radio on the left side see i never i i never look at it because when i go to program stuff all you got to do is tell it what you want to do and then flip the switch and then it automatically switches or uses that switch right so i don't pay attention to what each one is called but yeah like i know i do those on a three position switch so yeah that's kind of a goodbye good riddance

[01:18:21] Thing to this one here i know fms came out with another one which not worried about it right now

[01:18:28] Maybe something down the line maybe if they still have it so that one was crashed twice or three times that's twice for that one twice okay so number two took it out number two's done what else have you cracked oh what can't they don't even remember there's always so many i do recall seeing a picture

[01:18:49] Of an f-16 with a cracked oh yeah yeah i was out flying with tommy and jd at the church and i came in for a landing and the landing was actually pretty nice it's just i bounced it and then it bounced again and again and again and again and again so that's the opposite of pretty nice it was nice coming in

[01:19:11] It's just one so the approach was good but the landing left a little to be desired oh yeah it matter

[01:19:17] Of fact that was a brand spanking new nose gear i just put on there and sure enough it bounced it hard enough to crack the fuse up there in the landing gear area to the point where if you grabbed it hard enough you could probably pull about a good six inches of it off well the picture you sent you could see the separation of it so yeah i've got some spars for it i'm planning on getting to it eventually sometime here to try to see if i can fix that it's actually a really great flying plane i mean i love it that whole rotation as it's coming in it's it's beautiful yeah that's the e-flight f-16

[01:19:49] Yes 80 80 millimeter yes yeah so i'm planning on keeping that one so at worst come worse if i got you i'll just get a new fuse for it but we're gonna try to see if we can't fix it okay and of course you remember the the whole deal with the oh what the heck is that oh oh i can't think what that is oh extreme flight extra 300 i have no idea how i missed this this is the one with the latching

[01:20:19] Wings it's a little latch that goes down on the wings i have no clue how i missed i know i did the one but somehow or another i missed the right wing i believe it was so you're admitting to not doing it not having it come undone i don't think it came undone i think i just never got it all the way down okay

[01:20:36] So that makes me feel better i don't i have not had an extreme flight plane so i don't know how

[01:20:41] Those work well they lock in place once you push them down okay so but i don't think i got it all way down or if i even pushed it down let's just leave it at that judging by your stories you might not have i might not have so history dictates when she went up everything looked fine it was great and

[01:21:02] I think i did a lap and when i came back around all of a sudden the right wing panel just completely did a 45 or 90 degree angle all of a sudden and i was up high enough and i was like what in the hell and just she started to kind of do a spin yeah that would work as a break then exactly and i what i did then i was like i gave it full rudder i do believe an elevator to go with that spin it was the best

[01:21:34] Flat spin i've ever done i mean the best one i thought it was almost intentional until i saw the wing like that so i'm so proud of myself i was i was and when it hit the ground it came in so soft it didn't only thing it broke was the landing gear on the one side but it was nothing else was broke well that's awesome so as a matter of fact i to be honest with you and this to be being honest

[01:21:58] I was so mad at myself that i went over to the plane looked at us like this is stupid how did i forget this how did i miss this and i latched it down the wings were fine even the the end pieces were fine what i did after that i put the plane over on the pavement fired it back up and i flew it

[01:22:20] Really i flew it i was missing one gear i i didn't know i didn't know where we were going with that i wasn't sure if it was going to be i flew it or i stepped on it and i threw it away no no i was i

[01:22:31] Was figuring what i'm gonna fly this plane i brought this battery out here i'm flying this damn plane and then and i didn't care what the landing gear looked like on the one side i flew it oh good i didn't realize that so i flew it and i went through the whole battery and i landed i came in for the softest landing i could didn't tear anything else up but i flew it that's a new one too like i don't remember you having that for very long i've had that one that net the 330 for about a year a little

[01:23:02] Over a year and a half i think no i just don't take them out okay i'm trying that's the ones i was

[01:23:08] Flying in all that wind here what a month ago yeah that's all we've had excuse me that's all we've had

[01:23:14] As wind hurricane type wind yeah it's silly it's still as a matter of fact this friday i'm sorry this sunday is actually supposed to be a good day five to ten if i'm understanding right oh really

[01:23:24] Yep because not tonight last yesterday was 30 sustained with 40 mile an hour gusts
